(if David Gaider actually said that I'm really sad, but I'm going to pretend it was a nasty rumor until I see a direct quote).

Here you go.

Personally I think her characterization with regard to the Qun is perfectly reasonable as a convert. Though anyone could see she had some Sue-ish qualities, man or woman gamer. (Though would we have really seen it the same way had Tallis herself been male? I don't think DG's point should be dismissed out-of-hand. Our perceptions aren't so unbiased as we would like to think, usually.)

I remember how some women took offense at Gaider's comment when this post was originally made.

Like I said in the other thread. People who dislike her should have the option of killing her.

I thought Tallis was really poorly written and I hated being railroaded so much in that DLC. I would prefer she just not appear again.

That's probably why it's such a 'nasty rumor' whenever the Tallis subject comes up even now.

Makes sense it offended people because it's a generality, and because people usually do take offense at being accused of bias. The bias part I don't hold much sympathy for because it seems pretty clear with what we know of psychology that subtle biases are prevalent in every single judgment we make. That's part of being human. How much different our perceptions may be can be minimized to a certain extent with training in critical thinking and what-have-you, but never eliminated. As far as the generalizing, I don't see it any more offensive than suggesting I may have a positive bias given that she is a cutesy-quirky-mary sue-whatever and I'm a heterosexual male. Yeah not all guys (or even most) will fall into that generalization, but that doesn't mean it couldn't still be noteworthy.

I wouldn't mind Tallis appearing again (as either random npc or companion) but, only if she makes sense in the setting and the story being told. Also, as others have said, I would personally like more options with regards to her ( maybe not killing exactly but at least a fight option at some point would be reasonable imo, especially if you are able to play anti-qunari).

Sweet maker no.

Do not want.

And no it's not because of "competition." but rather...she was irksome and annoying. Her intro has her cutting down people by the dozens and showboating...but later it's time to wangst about killing one guard. Mood whiplash much? If she was gonna do the "I don't like killing" spiel that should've happened a while ago. Kind of late at that point. And the got your nose crap was just no. It wasn't cute. It wasn't interesting.

Maybe if Hawke could call her out on the BS but s/he can't so ugh.

As for her being a male...nah. Probably would've ended up being sexist too with the whole "women don't fight" thing. So not seeing how that would've improved my outlook on said character.

I can see why.  IMHO the comment was small and gutless, and rather than admit that a lot of people didn't care for Talis for genuinely valid reasons, he seemed to retreat to calling the detractors migynists instead.  It was (and is) more than a little insulting and it seems to reflect a lack of desire to honestly reflect on mistakes made with the Talis characters that members of both genders found problematic.

The topic title is extremely deceptive. I thought I was coming in here for confirmation on Felicia Day being in DA:I.

If Tallis were male, I highly doubt he would have been written the same way.  Cutesy and quirky aren't generally popular traits for male video game characters, unless we're talking about Sonic or Sly Cooper or something.

Though to be honest, Sonic really isn't about "cutesy" or "quirky," he's more of a jock type character. Bit of a douche, some fans have called him.

I just felt obliged to say that.

I'm not overly fond of Felicia Day as an actress, although I really have nothing against her, but her appearance in DA2 wasn't very enlightening or exciting. It would have to be a no for me.

Depends on how broadly we're talking 'cutesy' here since Alistair, Zevran and Anders in Awakening are all 'witty' punchline factories like Tallis. To me they all strike a similar chord even if it's different, er, "instruments" I guess. Difference being she's just more Sue-ish because her overly indulgent intro, the 'urgh she wins every banter' problem if that really is one, the perception that her personality conflicts with being qunari just for the sake of her being so darn speshul, and her getting her way without Hawke having any say-so.

But that's really breaking away from the issue of her being cutesy or whatever. Nonetheless, I'm sure it is true that the writers would have written her differently as a man, because they're just as aware of gender roles as anyone else, so that would certainly have either an effect that is deliberate on their part, or at least a subconscious effect on how they write the character, just as it does on how we perceive the character.

And I didn't realize Sonic had a personality, plots in Sonic media are so darn awful

Since I play "Mark of The Assassin" DLC, i'm a fan of her. She was really excited with the Dragon Age world and brought more fans or "viewers" to the game. I will like to see her again, maybe on some secondary mission or something. Tallis's character was really interesting and funny but mysterious at the same time.

Jesus H. Christ in a chicken basket. I had no idea she garnered this much hatred.

She's still one of my favourite DA2 characters, though.

I liked Tallis, I hope she's in DAI. She really made MotA a lot of fun. It would've been nice to have the chance to turn her from the Qunari, that whole Qunari thing was annoying, but everything else about her character was really cool. More Tallis!

I don't usually watch Supernatural. Was channel surfing and saw her in an episode Congrats on the paycheck. rotfl. There's no confirmation about who the voice actors are in DAI , so there's no deception . If she is in DAI and people don't like Tallis or DAY perso nally they should have the right to kill Tallis and move on.

The problem was not with Tallis herself but with the limited choices that the dlc allowed. Other characters like Anders or Isabela also generate strong opinions, but Hawke had plenty of options to confront them and not just go along with them. I hope Tallis come back but this time in a less lineal setting, where we have different ways to deal with her, and not just one.

Also, Bioware should stay away from scanning faces. Not only it is immersion breaking but most of the time an embarrassing failure.

I have zero opinion of Felicia Day (I'd never even heard of her prior to her role as Tallis), I haven't seen the web series starring her, and I don't take umbrage with her more quirky aspects. That said, I wanted to stab her in the face soooo much and I was pissed that she succeeded in her goals regardless of your input! Her general demeanour after you learn about her goals generally boils down to:

Tallis: "The Qun is awesome, what are you talking about?"
Everyone: "But what about (really sucky aspects)?"
Tallis: *covers ears* "LA LA LA LA LA CAN'T HEAR YOU LA LA LA LA LA!!!"

That is NOT somebody who I want to associate with, let alone WORK with! Either shove her into the corner of obscurity or let us actively work against her! >_<
