no, her plot armour and 'but thou can't' power made her to annoying.

I have no problem w/Felicia Day as a person. But I didn't care for her voice acting in MotA. BW usually has pretty good voice actors, so I admit the bar is set high.

As far as Tallis the character:

She liked to interrupt me alot when I was talking. That annoyed me immediately. I see my Bro-Carver. Last time I see him he was dying of the taint. So I'm talking to him and immediately in sum Valley Girl High School way she interrupts w/ "Can we get back on topic now?"

Same w/Leli and.....Elegant. I don't like that.

It does seem like they had stars in their eyes when writing the "Felicia Day pack".

And the Voice Acting, I'm sorry---I actually like Felicia Day irl, but the voice acting had this high school girl attitude to it that simply grated my nerves.

The PC was made to be a derp, yet again. Unless you went along with her. Otherwise, you had no voice. You just sat there blinking at her w/2 big fish eyes like you were Finding Nemo.

There was favoritism. They favored Tallis over the PC. If this makes me "jealous" then so be it. Although, I wouldn't say it has one thing to do w/me being female. Prolly more to do w/ me just being a jealous old god, in general.

Sometimes it seems like BW doesn't really like the PC's. Or, like they want us to know that we're not All That. And while, no--irl, I'm not All That, but they came up w/these great games where I got to prance around playing hero. Star of the show.

I thought we had an agreement. Thou Shalt Place No NPC's Above Me.

I think the real question would be why the writers felt the need to treat Tallis like such a special snowflake. Not why my genitalia would predispose me to disliking the character.

Frankly, I like my female companions to be strong and good looking. In that order. Their own minds and opinions. What I don't like is female companions that come off like they're still in high school....well, unless they're really sharp and clever. Tallis was neither.

Sorry.

If she is a companion, however, I will Not kill her. I'm not into killing off my companions. I'll deal with it. We'll see how it goes. Maybe I'll end up liking her. I'm willing to give her a chance if they do want to put her in the game as a companion.

Wow I can't believe how many people dislike her.

From other subforums I got the impression people loved her.

Some people don't like the Tallis character. They have an issue with Hawke being forced to do her bidding in MOTA. And some people are jealous of Felicia Da the person. Jealous and envious. They see her doing things they wish they were doing.

My freedom loving apostate blood mage was tricked to help a Qun enforcer who supports sewing mages mouth shut and using them as living weapons. The moment I was ready to fry her Qun ass and take that Qun spy list I got trolled. She just threw a toy to my Hawke like a bone to a dog and walked away. Good to know my pc was forced to enable Qunari actions.

I think most people are against being forced to like a character. They pushed the character onto us and expected us to love the character, when they find out we don't love the character, it's our fault because we're against the celebrity of Felicia Day. Nothing to do with the fact that they forced her onto us and say, "LIKE HER!"

Shrugs. Not entirely accurate. If you dislike Tallis because of the way MOTA was done that's entirely legitimate. If you don't like Tallis because you're jealous of Day's professional success that's illegitimate in my opinion. Others can disagree if they like. shrugs.

Except if you look at the posts here very few people are hating on Felicia Day as an actress, and if they are they're pointing out reasons why that don't pertain to her career. I'm sure there are people out there who are jealous of her, but they're clearly not in the majority when it comes to this issue. There's nothing I hate more than the 'you're just jealous' defense. It ignores what might be legitimate reasons behind people's opinions and instead opts for the tried and true method of stubbornly crossing one's arms and screaming as loud as possible to drown everyone else out because you don't like what they're saying. The 'you' here is relative, but the point stands. I've seen it in too many fandoms as a last ditch defense to sweep away potentially legitimate criticism and it always pushes my last nerve.

Personally I don't care one way or another. I never played MoTA, watched some clips of it since I didn't have money to shell out on DLC at the time, and all I know of Felicia Day is from a few podcasts, so I can't say I dislike her or not. However what I did see of Tallis, I didn't like that much either. I'm withholding my opinion until I can rewatch a run of the DLC but from what I do remember I can see why people would have a problem with her.

You should realize some people won't ever admit they dislike Day personality for nongame reasons. Your few comment may be inaccurate and is probably self serving as you're being defensive. Plus your I' m tired argument is particular to you and may not apply to everyone. It's only a game anyway. If you don't like Tallis fine . I think Priestly's now deleted tweet indicates she'll be in the game. Why would he even mention Day otherwise. If she is in DAI people who don't like it need to maintain their composure. If they can kill Tallis and want to then they can do so. shrugs.

After replaying her DLC, no. Her character was quirky and had her moments, but I'd be upset if she got more of an appearance than say someone like Merrill.

Why the hate? I thought she was one of the more fun characters in the series. Probably my third favorite behind Isabela and Varric. As an Elf Sshe wasn't the lost innocent like Merrill or as human hating as Velanna that I was used to having as an elf companion and the Qunari Assassin role was kind of cool. I think she'd be  a perfect character for DAI, familiar but not tied down to a relationship with Hawke in the same way the other charcters are.

I liked her because she was a qunari but she had doubts and it was cool how they did that. I would like to see her again but not as a major character

I suspect she'll be a party member. I hope there's an option to refuse for those who don't want her . If you have to have her in the party I hope those who dislike her have the option to kill her.shrugs. I intend to let her join and she'll probably be a LI in some of my playthroughs.

Hated her.

Hope she never comes back, but I have a feeling that the writers like her, so she will probably show up again. Hopefully we won't be forced to be bffs with her.

A lot of the dialogue during MotA made it seem like the developers were setting her up to be a part of the expansion. With that axed, though, I hope she'll show up in DA3. Her face was a little too uncanny valley for me but otherwise I thought she was great. :thumbs up:

Gaider likes her. I think that increases the chances of her being in the game. That and Priestly's tweet. Why would he even joke about Day. A joke subject to interpretation that he has since deleted. Unless she's in the game.

Not really, she's got a fanbase like any other character, but she's one of those characters that there are more haters on the BSN then there are fans, it's like saying

"I would like to see Hawke, Anders, Merrill, and Carver come back for DA3" it's impossible to do without there a large number people mentioning how awful the character was and how he/she should die.

She can come back I wouldn't mind so there's that if anything.

It's funny how Gaider thinks that Felicia Day is "celebrity". Thousands know her at best, and it was only because of DA2. Carrie-Anne Moss and Martin Sheen are celebrities and probably the most famous actors who voiced Bioware games.

And then this.

While any character is going to have a certain amount of love/hate coming their way, it really is interesting to watch how gender also plays into it. Watching some of the cries of "Mary Sue!" or the view of Tallis by some as if she were some kind of competitor to the female player has been quite interesting... and neither of those things would be the same if Tallis were male, I'm certain.

Nope, people would have just cried Marty Stu.

I apologize if I came off as defensive, your comment really was just the straw that broke the camel's back on a long standing issue I have that isn't really related to this game at all. I apologize for snapping, but I've heard 'you're just jealous' so many times I get annoyed whenever I see it. As I said before, I really have no opinion on Tallis one way or the other or on Ms. Day. What I remember about Tallis I don't like, but it's been awhile since I've seen a playthrough of MoTA and thus I can't make a definitive statement about her one way or the other.

Tallis was a Mary Sue.  No question.  There was nothing Hawke could do or so that would change her mind, alter what she wanted to do, but the entire DLC revolved around what a wonderful and skilled character Tallis was (when in truth for a two-weapon rogue her character was actually pretty weak compared with other two weapon rogue builds).  Her being male or female had nothing to do with it.

I'll keep that in mind when I do sit down to watch an LP of the DLC. Though I don't think I mentioned her gender at any point in my original posts as being an issue?
