Due to some space magic of unknown type, Shepard has a choice. He can release the Destroy wave as is or alter it to create a physically destructive blast that kills him and a great number of allies, including the Normandy crew. But the geth as a species remain intact. Basically, would you trade yourself and your team for synthetics?

Geth extinction is preferable to this.

Are you serious? Give up my friends, ship and life for a race of machines that prefer Reaper servitude to freedom? No thanks.

Not in a million years.

Edit: Does EDI die if you choose to save you and your team?

Geth are infinitely more valuable than the Normandy and its crew in my opinion.
However, the option in the OP would result in the death of the crews of the remaining ships protecting the crucible along with the Normandy.

Hackett must survive. No matter the cost.

If it was only the normandy that would be lost, then I'd take that choice with no regrets.

No.

The choice is have a certain type of people die, or have the vast majority of everybody die including everybody you've ever loved.

That's not more acceptable.

My idea in response

Not the vast majority of everybody: say 10% of the fleet. I'd say it was just Shepard+team, but I can't think of a way to make that work.

For me, I'd still just wipe out the entirety of the geth, and all synthetics in the universe, before I destroy the Normandy crew.

no, I'd kill the geth for free :D

I've never understood why so many people care about them... yes, legion was an interesting, charismatic and manipulative guy, but every single geth I've met tried to kill/stop me. A lot of talking and regrets but hey, all they've done was supporting the reapers.

I wouldn't trade my pinkie for geths.

I am tempted to say something stronger, but it might get me banned.
How about:  I'd sacrifice the Geth to save my hamster.

Acceptable losses. Acceptable deal.

I'll add the Krogan, Hanar and Raloi to that list.

I think that's going too far. I don't place more value on an organic than a synthetic, but I don't define them the same way as far as life goes.

and just for fun:

When I saw the title, I was convinced of an Auld Wulf thread.

That's... sick. No, really, that's a display of mental illness right there.
That is really, really sick. You know that puke icon that you use to describe Synthesis? That's how I feel right now. That's an utter disregard for sapient life. It's just utter, unashamed contempt. It's pure misanthropy. Your head must be a terrifying place to be.
I mean, I always expected that of you, but I never expected you to come out and say it...
Wow. Just... wow. I've been annoyed before, but never quite this disgusted.

there you go wulfy, i've written your post for you!

Fair enough. I'd make it a vote among the crew. I'd make sure to invite Wrex and Grunt to the ship first though.

Look at my concept

You don't even have to rework ME2 or ME3 (though the latter really needs it regardless).

Uh, no. They got theirs above Rannoch in my canon anyway.

A different synthetic species? Maybe. Depends on the circumstances.

No, the Geth in ME3 aren't even the Real Geth except Legion
