@Deinon, someone forgot to tell Western Europe about that sometime in the 1100's

I think they were talking about how a modern, interconnected society would hold up. Most people these days don't know how to grow their own food. I, personally, think it'd take more than 20% to knock us down, but that's just me.

Another fun fact. After a disaster, 10% of people will leave refugee housing as soon as humanly possible. Another 10% are content to stay there until they are forcibly removed.

Define "a great number of allies".

Because if we're killing off a whole bunch of members of the other races just to save the Geth, hell no.

Alan, more or less. Mostly I just want to know if it's their honor intact or the survival of themselves and their loved ones they value more highly.

LMAO you have a rather narrow black and white view on this matter. Did it ever occur to you that some of us simply do not give damn about the damn geth?

I would gladly sacrifice myself and my crew for humanity, but not for a bunch of machines, that's just silly. Not to mention the fact that I already destroyed these machines back on Rannoch, so yeah, go figure.

No, but only because there are more organic races than synthetics. It may be harsh, but I would sacrifice the geth purely on numbers. Its as Garrus said, ruthless calculus.

I've got a better idea...

using the reaper corpse on Rannoch and the reaper code that was going to be uploaded to the Geth but didn't get uploaded because of smart decisions, our geniuses who are technical wizards called (ahem) the Quarians (those filthy, disgusting, stinking, migrant suit rats that everyone hates) repurposed it and made a nasty virus to transfer to other reapers via QE Reaper IFF frequencies.

Oh, they have one of those, a Reaper IFF. You know where they got that? From the dead reaper. Now this dead reaper has a record of every single reaper com frequency used.

When first sent into the system with reapers the reapers receive and acknowledge, now when that happens the virus begins replicating at a rapid rate, and gets sent to other reapers as well. Eventually (as in seconds) it will take over the entire operating system of the reaper and shut down the weapons, shielding, and main cores of the reaper ships, rendering them helpless, At which time your fleet can now flood them with junk data and prevent them from backing up from their own restore points. To you this will appear to happen simultaneously. Your fleet will be able to rip them to scrap metal.

Would you use this weapon to destroy the reapers? Or would you shoot the tube and sacrifice one of our allies?

@Julia, isn't that what Xen was working on in that cut Citadel quest?

I'll kill the Geth on Rannoch and pick that option. The Geth won't live in my game.;)

The Brobots are usually dead by the time of the battle of Earth...

And even if I were to spare them on Rannoch via peace it would just be to use them as cannon fodder.

When their usefulness ends they will be discarded like any other former Reaper "ally".

Unlike many here, I value the Geth and consider them to be "people". As to the moral conundrum in the OP, I"m not sure what I'd pick.

I guess I'm the only person here who's a destroyer and actually likes the Geth more than the Quarians. I wouldn't sacrifice such a large number of galactic inhabitants to save the Geth, but I do regret their loss. If anything, I intend to utilize the Quarians as fodder while I use the Geth's advanced tech and weaponry to stem the tide of battle.

Actually, I don't. Because in my headcanon, they never die. They're just put back to their pre-Reaper code state with their ME1-2 outlook.

I guess I won't turn this into a Geth vs. Quarian debate. Everyone knows who I choose if I can't make peace.

I'm pretty sure you're not alone. I much preferred their ME2 philosophy over the code-junkies they turned into in 3.

Chris L'Etoile had it right. SuperMac got it wrong.

I still would choose the Geth over the Quarians, but in ME3, it's essentially a Pinocchio story, along with EDI.

She's lost forever in my headcanon. Joker is devastated, even though they were never in a relationship. He moves on to a much healthier relationship with Dr. Michel.

Personally, I don't like the idea of organic/synthetic relationships. All they're trying to do is humanize the synthetic.

You are not alone. I pick the Geth over the Quarians every time. Much much prefer the Geth (even ME3 Geth) over the Quarians.

Now if the question was sacrifice the Quarians for the Geth...I'd do that every time.

Alas I have to make due with destroyed Rannoch slide because go go contrived all synthetics must die garbage.

Could it be they're trying to humanize the synthetic because humans are utterly incapable of recognizing synthetic intelligences as life otherwise?  I mean....so far this thread isn't exactly suggesting people will ever see a synthetic intelligence as a life if they have any other choice.

I'm curious if people on the BSN would still have a problem with the geth in ME 3 if Legion's dialogue about technology in ME 2 had been altered and the dialogue in ME 3 simply focused on power and the geth being able to cast aside crutches they needed beforehand.

Please notice in my post all you Geth lovers, that I did not say the Geth died. I just said "smart decision making". They did not get the code.
