Where are the groups for this?  This is the most hotly anticipated MMORPG ... probably ever... among both those that don't play MMORPGs as a rule, and MMORPG players.

Please, create a group or two for this on the social site, so I have no reason to go back to the Bioware old forums anymore :D

As someone that played SWKOTOR I & II to death, I am not the least bit excited about an MMO version. Making it multiplayer takes something away I feel :-(

Then again, if they hadn't done that, I prolly wouldn't have gotten so excited about Dragon Age :-)

Agreed, but for me Wow has gotton waay too old and repetative, and if there was ever a game to take up the legendary mantle of "the WoW killer" than this is the game that I'd want to do it, BioWare + KOTOR universe = Epic MMO

I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS ONE!!

I hope you don't. That will be one more Sith added to the endless streams of wannabe Jedi/Sith who just want to be hold a lightsaber. *sigh* This is gonna be just like Galaxies if that keeps up.....

It IS gonna be just like galaxies. There's not even the slightest possibility of a different outcome unless they put draconian limitations to the jedi characters, thing that would simply make the game fai commercially. It's a lose/lose situation

Personally, the more i see the hype grow out of proportion, the more I smell fail... But I do hope I'm wrong.

If it's done right, they'll need a variety of different classes to balance the party for various quests/missions/etc. I have no doubt I'll have a Jedi alt, but I'm sure I'll try playing some of the other classes as well for variety.

Considering the gameplay won't be anything like most MMO's, and seeing what style they are going with, I'd say it's not really going to be like Star Wars Galaxies, because most people aren't just going to stick with one character.

I certainly hope so too.

Everybody just wants to hold a lightsaber. Nobody thinks of Han Solo anymore. Nobody ever thinks of vibro-swords or blasters or jetpacks. Every guy just wants to be the hero and to them, that means Jedi/Sith. Bah! Those kinds of people think they're something wielding a lightsaber. Everybody on the TOR forums never thinks about the Trooper, Smuggler, Bounty Hunter, and the Imperial Agent. They mainly talk about how they "can't wait to be Jedi/Sith".

I can go on and on about these people, but I won't.

I'm not interested in an MMORPG, even if it comes from Bioware, the best RPG developers ever.

I'll consider it if it has a single player campaign mode a least. Otherwise, screw it.
I don't like playing games on other people's time.

What is this nonsense about it being just like Star Wars Galaxies?

It's from BIOWARE for Christ's sakes.  OF COURSE it's going to be better than Star Wars Galaxies.

But that just makes them more interesting, Capt. Obvious. ;)

I have to admit that while I despise MMORPGs, and believe them to be a blight, I can't help but be interested in TOR. I hope there's a free trial.

I don't think it's going to be like Star Wars Galaxies as a whole, Borschbeet. But I'm saying that there are so many people that are just waiting to be Jedi/Sith on the MMORPG. The last Star Wars MMO was filled with Jedi. See, the problem is that, not many people are thinking about being something else besides a Force-sensitive class. It'll be like Star Wars Galaxies in the sense that they're mainly be Jedi/Sith classes then, say, Troopers, Imperial Agents, Smugglers and Bounty Hunters.

My only worry about the game is that it will be ruined by the immature, whiny, demanding community that follows MMO's. No matter how great the game is, it will either lack immersion because of all the "DARTHBOObZ" running around, or there will be an endless stream of crying about this or that being to hard and it will be dumbed down. Also, it's possible that no one will play it because they are forced to sit through cutscenes and dialogue just to grind for that leet gear. So.... I really hope to find a good group of people and play exclusively with them, essentially turning an MMORPG into an SMMORPG(slightly massively multiplayer online rpg.)

other great games have been ruined by the horde of immature gamers, Pirates of the Burning Sea comes to mind.

I dunno Captain Obvious. It might be a bit of a problem the first month or so, but people are probably going to run out of fun themselves and move on to other, worse games.

I Valente I's worry kind of reminds me of Guild Wars. An almost decent MMO and now an almost absymal one because of the stupid community. Now that he mentions it, I'm hoping that the community doesn't turn out to be a Runescape-esqe type community. I usually think of BioWare fans to be pretty mature people but then again, there are also a lot of very young people who love the series. That might not be a problem as long as they have some maturity but sometimes that seems almost unlikely.

yes Guild Wars is also a good example, probably better than Pirates because Guild Wars is heavily instanced, like I think SW:TOR will be. I agree that Bioware fans, and KOTOR fans tend to be more mature...but my worry is that this game is a "Star Wars" game, and being one, will initially draw in the same kind of people that flocked to "Pirates of the Carribean Online". Bioware fans and KOTOR fans will be a minority I fear, I hope I am wrong but I expect the worst. Anyone remember how great the Warcraft series was before WoW? I doubt more than a handful of people playing WoWtoday even know there ever was a  Warcraft I, II, and III (same with the Ultima series actually). I fear the KOTOR series will meet the same fate...

This is why I don't really like MMO's nor have any interest for them. It takes the fun out when you're trying to do a mission but then you have some immature creep who stalks you, which has happened to me. I could never put up with that. But if players are going to be civil and mature, I might consider because I'm fond of Star Wars and am a fan of BioWare but will say no to immature players chasing me.
