AIU Claymore Geth is very hardcore for a first Gold Solo. And Giant doesn't give you much grenades - on a rich grenade map you can run Repair Matrix almost non-stop during a solo.
If you want to keep the AIU, I would suggest Wraith and White for your next one. It's simply a lot easier.

Grats on the gold win. I'm not gonna lie, I used the Kroguard to solo my golds. It is definitely the "safer" route and quite fast if done right. So extra grats for not using the krogan and still succeeding.

Serious respect to you OP.  I did a bronze this morning and loathed every minute of it    Have to psych myself up to do a couple of silvers next.  It's just so depressingly lonely and stressful.  Gah.

I shall man up and cheese my way through like a true bsner...  But I hate geth so I'l go reapers.

That is actually the worst part, the dread.  You don't know if you can do it or not, and you know you will be burning your best consumables in the process.  I must have procrastinated for an hour before starting.

I have found that my solos went best when I just started them on a whim as the first game on a day (not tired, first few waves to get back into the game). And patience. If you're willing to be patient, you can even get 10 waves survived. Just watch out for those messed up spawns right next to you.

congrats n the gold solo. I'm glad I never have to do it again(oh, wait PUGs, never mind lol). But 80 minutes? wow. I think mine were 40 or 50 talk about dedication. Also maybe try Kroguard, piranha, warp rounds on white. goes a lot faster. I know you like the claymore but man that pirahna shreds.

I recently tried gold solo myself.
My build (turian ghost) along with armor piercing III ammo.
Reapers, firebase dagger.
Took me about 45 minutes, first time was a success, and not to hard.
I thought, okay I still have some time to waste, lets go again, but cyclonic IV and armor piercing IV.
Throughout the second game:
Hmmm, yeah I'm doing pretty well. I think I'm going faster than last time. This is going great.
Then wave 10. Activate 4 devices. Darnit.
Yeah, I lost that second game...
I guess it's partly luck.
