well i still remember that rant thread (was it stardusk?) who went ON and ON about how someone dropped into his solo match and ruined it. So I have NEVER used the join game option, even though on xbox its relatively easy to set it to private

that thread was HILARIOUS.
unintentionally so.

lately i've been starting matches and leaving the "public" door open.
and sometimes my buddies join those matches. for which i'm grateful.
i'd never do it, but i don't mind when i leave the match open and proceed.

only thing i HATE is getting invited to matches in progress with no warning. or gear.
depending on the situation, i'll probably just leave.

Huh...I seem to remeber you inviting me into a game in progress before

I don't join a friends game unless i'm invited or have at least sent them a message first. I'm not particularly bothered if a friend does it to me. If i'm soloing I make sure to set my lobby to Private

I always ask first if I'm looking to play and on the other hand I don't particularly like it when people join unannounced, lol. Ninja-joining can more often than not create an awkward few moments where you have to explain that you are waiting for someone you actually invited.

I've sometimes ninja joined legion lobbies, only to find out someone had already called dibs on the spot I was taking up. When that happens I just get out no fuss. Once I got kicked out so fast there wasn't time for it to get awkward, so...

I don't mind people ninja joining my lobbies, but that hardly happens as most people in my FL are no longer active and/or I'm set to invisible by default. I'd rather have friends ninja join than having to pug the last 1-2 slots tbh.

What's nice about PS3 is that folks can (usually) only join your private lobby if they use an invite (doesn't matter how old or long ago that invite was sent). Which usually means it's a friend joining.

It's a mixed bag, though. I've only had a friend ninja-join twice. Once was in a lobby where we started three people and had hoped to pick up a fourth anyway, so it worked out fine. The other time was when a friend and I were trying to duo one of Crimson Vanguard's challenges... poor friend joined to hear me frantically shout "Nooooooooooooooo" about the ninja-join. Poor boy will probably never pull that trick again. LOL

Otherwise, only other private lobby ninja-join happened recently and was a total stranger. Still haven't figured out how they managed that. *shrugs*

Personally, though, I NEVER try ninja-joining... what if your friend is attempting a solo and your joining ruins it? While I do save some old invites, I only do so in the case that I am already in their lobby and get disconnected... that way, I can quickly rejoin without them trying to shoot a new invite.

Uh oh, I think DragonRacer has been talking to Shinobu ... she has learned how to use the "mom voice."

*shudder*

Suddenly realize Shinobu and DragonRacer play on different platforms and ... therefore...

No one has ever seen them in the same lobby.

*gasp*

DragonRacer=Shinobu????

Eh never ninja joined a game before. Most of the time when I get sent invites I'm already knee deep in someone else's lobby tbh.

I just hate when 10 abominations or husks are in line to hump my leg before I even see the game screen. Pretty stupid cheese whoever the programmer is who wrote that b/s into the game.

I don't really join. I prefer being invited to friend's lobbies. Other wise. I work alone.

LOL, somebody sent me a link to that thread. I have honestly never played a game with stardusk where he wasn't cursing or complaining about soemthing. When I played with him he even switched to german for his cursing.

I still think ninja joining games is totally legitimate and you should all stop whining about it being rude. If ya wanna solo you can go invisible. Othewsuie expect someone to coem in and blow sh*t up. Also melee each other as a sign of recognizitzon. :wizard:

There, there, young man, it's ok! No we're not the same person, though I wish we played on the same platform, 'cause I'd love to Turian it up with her sometime!

I find it rude as well. I'd never do it intentionally, but then I guess I don't need to because the match making system does it for me.

Lol, noone has. I don't mind Stardusk to be honest, but one thing's sure - he likes to whine.

I once ninja-joined Bacon's lobby while they were waiting for someone else. They asked me to leave and I left. No harm done. If someone tells me he has a huge problem with that, I won't ninja-join that person's games without asking first. [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/wink.png[/smilie]

Yeah it's ok, I understand that and the fact that you leave without problems is a point in your favor. But I've had people crashing into a lobby and then saying stuff like "oh c'mon, I was here first, tell the other to find another lobby". Now that's something I really don't like. And if it happens again and again after I explained how annoying I find it - you'll get blocked, at least for a while.

Also, keep in mind that lots of people are shy and do not like to be in a position in which they have to ask someone to leave.

Also, going offline to solo means that you'll have to restart Origin before you can start joining friends' matches again, because Origin is ****.

All in all, I was just offering my view on the thing, nothing more. Given the circumstances in which I play today (FL not active at all), feel free to ninja join my games :P

Jeremiah12LGeek wrote...

I find the way that works surprising, mostly because it seems Origin's interface is poorly designed, and should get an overhaul to fix the settings so that they work properly.

Yeah, don't get me started on that... <_<

I'd turn the question around and ask: you were a GI on silver. Why wasn't everything dieing before spawning? :P

Ninja jojning solos ever since retaliation :)

Yes I have also learned that if you're gonna solo, better swich to invisible. I had SuperJugggler ninjw jojin my solo..he droped in wave 8 gold and I still had 5 gels and all missiles..it was quite easy but when he came in it all went bad. And he was angry over the mic saing "o so no reviving ha...some team mate you turned out to be...I was crying over the mic saying I'm trying to solo but it was already too late.
So if I do the same as you OP but now if I land in an ongoing solo, I'll ask if it's a solo and then leave or stay depending on the answer.

I always ask before joining and prefer if friends would do the same. I don't like having to ask people to leave because we were waiting for someone else to finish a game before they could join us. But I will and even kick if necessary. Nothing personal and you may be welcome back in a game or two.

I had a group of friends where it was perfectly acceptable, even expected, but they are gone (world's smallest violin) and I would not do that to a friend and I did unfriend one guy who ninja joined a lobby I was in *that wasn't mine* very rude. /British politeness rant

If they don't want a 'ninja join', they should set the game to private.

I don't see the reason to do it.
If I'm sitting in an empty lobby, and a friend shows up I just send an invite. Otherwise I get usually invited.

On PC anyone on your friends list can join your private lobby even if they are not invited. If one wants to avoid FL ninja-joiners one can set personal status to "Invisible," but this means that NO ONE on your friends list can join you.

So if you want a game with friends, you can't limit the people who join to invitees only.

With the lag I'm getting on Shinobu's host I am usually dead the moment I see the turret.

Also, I did ask DaveT yesterday whether he was doing his second gold solo and after not getting an answer I refrained from ninja joining. But since he finished it now, I'll ninja join his games without remorse again.

The only person who explicitly told me to ask first is kouzrah, everyone else is fair game.

Sorry about that, I was neck deep in Geth at that moment, and didn't feel comfortable switching out to answer

But thanks for not ninjaing, I might have broken my keyboard after having the disconnect on the previous game :D
