Have you never seen a commercial? Men are doofuses who can't figure out anything without a woman. They will go to great lengths to preserve the facade that they know what they're doing when it's transparent that they haven't a clue. It may be a disingenuous position to compare the sexism against men to the sexism against women when we live in a patriarchy that generally favors the man, but to say it doesn't exist against men is wrong.
Historically speaking, there hasn't been a debate going on whether men are less smart than women, and men (as in, the whole gender) haven't been historically excluded from higher education or science and academia, for example. Context matters.
In addition, most of these commercials you are talking about (that I have seen at least) have usually involved housework of some kind -- dish washing, laundry, etc. -- which kinda plays into the whole "See? Men are not meant to do chores!" -mentality, which isn't exactly the hight of misandry, since this is often an excuse which used to explain why women have to do the majority of housework, even when they too work full-time. This seems to be a trend: even when we see negative portrayals of men, it is usually in the context of status quo: men might not know a vacuum cleaner from a dish washer, but they have no problem working as a surgeon or a hedge fund manager! This might be because there aren't any stereotypically negative "male" / "masculine" qualities that societally work against men (ie. there's no "matriarchy" to oppose the patriarchy*), but the same cannot be said of women, which is why sexist jokes about women are a bigger problem.
*althought you could argue there's some really iffy societal perceptions going on with men who choose a career in a historically female-oriented field, ie. working with young children etc., but IMO that is again more about how men who exhibit "feminine" characteristics can't be "normal".
