As for the Templars - they too should be crushed.
If this game is about these two factions - I desperately hope I can be against both, but if not - then I will be Anti-Mage Revolution (while playing a mage).

What side will you pick in the next Dragon Age game? Will you stand with the mages or templars?
I'll side with the mages who want to maintain their autonomy.
Luiren wrote...
In my opinion, both Dragon Age games so far have offered a slightly different perspective on the war between them. I found myself feeling the mages plight and supported "Mage Power" in Origins, and in DA2 I found myself feeling a little less than merciful towards the mages who succumbed to blood magic so easily and agreed the templars needed to get the Circle back in control so that Kirkwall might see order once again. While I did not agree with either Orsino or Meredith, I did feel the Chanrty should have stepped in.
I've never seen blood magic as evil, and criminals don't persuade me to condemn an entire race of people by association.
Luiren wrote...
Perhaps in DA: I there will be a third option, a way that we will not need to wholly support either faction.
As long as I get to support the mages and oppose the templars and the Andrastian Chantry.

Hypocrisy be thy name! Seriously though, that's always fun.

However - as I said - I am Pro-Reform... not pro-revolution. There is a difference. I find the Libertarian revolution to be misguided, doomed to failure and setting back any real hope for mages to ever be anything be despised.
Doesn't mean I'm right - just means that's how I perceive it.

Though on that note, has anyone ever heard of Shin Sekai Yuri? The people of the world had a very similar problem to the current Mage/Templar issue, and the way they dealt with it was... interesting.

Something that can deal with mages that misuse their power or become possessed but doesn't treat them like dangerous animals.

Mages should not be policed by drug addicts who think they're doing the Maker's holy duty. They should be policed by mindless automatons with two directives- kill blood mages and spirits (all of them). What could possibly go wrong???
Many many things. I have never thought about the whole drug addicts thing, that's a great way to look at it. Thank you.

Oh please go on. And the running off with Varric option? Brilliant.

I'm firmly pro-mage. People like to interpret that as support of violent anarchy.
Despite wanting to try all the angles in DAII, I never could bring myself to support the Templars.

I'd rather a middle ground since the old system is broken. With the circle's being treated more like Schools.

With the side that is right. So I'll wait to see what the game actually shows before making such decisions. Hopefully it isnt another case of everyone suffering from derpy insanity.

You don't want a Hogwarts for Kirkwall?

Basically, the book/show takes place roughly 1000 years after a small percentage of earth's population starting developing psychic powers. And I'm not talking dinky little "moving things around the room at will" psychic powers, I'm talking "reality altering, can turn someone into a bunny and then blow up their brains with a single thought" psychic powers. What's worse, is that not all of the psychics can control their powers. Some of them slowly but surely, start loosing the ability to prevent whatever their thinking about from just happening, whether they want it to or not. Some others go completely crazy and just starting killing people for the ****s and giggles.
Eventually a sort of minor "apocalypse" happens, and society has to be completely rebuilt. These rebuilders decide on a few things. First of all, weeding out all pyschics is down right impossible because of their immense power, and the fact that they can be born to non-pyschic families, making it too easy for just one to slip past the radar and start reeking havok again, with no other psychics to stand against them. Two psychics and nomals just can't live together, life for normals would be misery at the hands of a few rogue psychics. Conclusion, they set up special towns, each with a board that monitors children from the time that they are born, to the time they are 17 (nearly all psychic abnormalities occur at this age range). If I child doesn't develope psychic powers by a certain age, they're killed. If their powers are too weak, they're killed. If they show signs of anti-social behavior, they're killed, if they show signs of loosing control of their powers, they're killed. Also a group of scientists muddled with human DNA to make it physically painful and even deadly to see another human being dying or in pain (they use animals to do their child killing dirty work). They also altered the DNA to make humans more inclined to react to stress with Sexual intimacy rather than violence. Finally, they put up boundaries around the towns, to act as "psychological barriers" to limit the scope of the psychics' powers.
Considering how everyone's been comparing Mages to walking nuclear bombs, the situation/solution seemed applicable to the Mage/Templar war.

So basically Zevran's dream will come true, there really will be orgies at the Cirlces?
I hope it doesn't come to what you have mentioned....I'd hate to sneeze in front of them as I would probably be killed for that too. Thanks for sharing.

If that ending does not exist then I'd choose whichever path that leads to the highest amount of deaths.
