Considering how everyone's been comparing Mages to walking nuclear bombs, the situation/solution seemed applicable to the Mage/Templar war.

I'm going to put that on the "no" side of the pile. It has as many moral landmines as the Circles.

In all seriousness though, I do wonder if that actually be a potential solution at the end of the game "uniting everyone against a common foe" most likely it'd be the qunari...segwaying into the plot for DA4

it's the only solution and traditional one, a cliche. To make two faction not fighting each other is by unite them with a common interest/cause. The unity is maybe temporary but for the moment, it is something.

To make everyone on this world united under one banner, there must be an alien attack from outer space. Human will always dispute with each other, rival with each other, but always need each other. When under some thread human will automatically working with each other for survival. That makes us different with animals

Here's an idea for Bioware. MAKE THE PC THE ANTAGONIST of Thedas. Mages, templars, and nations can then unite and hunt us :D. Problem solved. EZ

aahh the zero requiem, good choice.... except I kinda don't want to die

Um yeah.  Gotta agree with you here.  This is pure:

Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius

It bothers me how in the world of Thedas, the downtrodden are so..defeated. Example..You'd think by now, the elves would have had SOMEONE to lead them. To be that voice that drives them to desire civil rights, to be that martyr if needed. (Is there ANY elf like this in the codex?) The mages don't try a diplomatic route, they're just defeated. Not even their families try. Anders was in a position, with the Mage HoF or not, to prove that mages CAN do good on their own. What he did in Awakening gave him a leg to stand on that other mages didn't have. I think people would have listened to him.. But he took the violent approach.

Anyway, I'm all for having Circles but Mages should police themselves. However, if in DA:I there are no mages trying to be a positive voice for their kind (even if they're killed in the process), I doubt I'll side with them. I'm tired of seeing these frightened people WAITING for someone to give them something because they throw blood magic hissyfits.

Pro-Templar with intent of preserving mages under harsher restrictions, slowly allowing rights and privileges to return over time. Mages are too valuable an asset to eliminate.

Yeah, if I had to do something, this would probably be me as well.

I prefer the Simpsons version of "Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out."

Apparently, so does that fictional setting. And hey, if they sort out aggression with sex, that gives Alrik one less reason to lobotomize everyone so... progress?

At the first I always try to choose a pacefully solution, but after play Dragon Age 2 and having Anders and Bethany testimonies I SWARE DEAD TO THE TEMPLARS! DD: LOL. Besides, playing like a mage makes me feel on the skin of the mages and more compromised to the cause.

Honestly, Im on the mages side. The Templars are not the bad guys (its true than a mage can be dangerous, but that is not a valid argument to lock them all), the Chantry is the problem. Hopefully on DA3 we will have more arguments and testimonies favoring the mages and the templars at equal parts. However, no matter what, i will remain being a pro-mage.

Like i say on other post... We all have knifes, and because some criminals commit murder innocent people, the solution is simply put in to a prison to all the citizens because perhaps they can be dangerous, just for safety?

What side will you pick in the next Dragon Age game? Will you stand with the mages or templars?

While I don't know what the plot of Inquisition will entail, with the information currently available to me I intend to ensure the mages remain free from Chantry control, if at all possible.

I'll go down the good old "death to all extremists" route. The common people of Thedas have a right to live without being eaten by abominations or being sacrifced for blood magic. Mages need to be quarantined, but they of course have a right to live their lives free of oppression.

Let the circles police themselves, with the templars outside, never entering unless by written request of the mages.

I'd go pro mage and let them police themselves in circles but keep the templars around just disconnect them from the chantry and they live close to the circle to stop the spread of abominations and demons if the circle ever falls. Their role would be reactive instead of their current proactive approach

The templar position is preferable to the mage one, ultimately though my loyalty lies with the Qun.

Basically, the book/show takes place roughly 1000 years after a small percentage of earth's population starting developing psychic powers. And I'm not talking dinky little "moving things around the room at will" psychic powers, I'm talking "reality altering, can turn someone into a bunny and then blow up their brains with a single thought" psychic powers.  What's worse, is that not all of the psychics can control their powers. Some of them slowly but surely, start loosing the ability to prevent whatever their thinking about from just happening, whether they want it to or not. Some others go completely crazy and just starting killing people for the ****s and giggles.

Eventually a sort of minor "apocalypse" happens, and society has to be completely rebuilt. These rebuilders decide on a few things. First of all, weeding out all pyschics is down right impossible because of their immense power, and the fact that they can be born to non-pyschic families, making it too easy for just one to slip past the radar and start reeking havok again, with no other psychics to stand against them. Two psychics and nomals just can't live together, life for normals would be misery at the hands of a few rogue psychics. Conclusion, they set up special towns, each with a board that monitors children from the time that they are born, to the time they are 17 (nearly all psychic abnormalities occur at this age range). If I child doesn't develope psychic powers by a certain age, they're killed. If their powers are too weak, they're killed. If they show signs of anti-social behavior, they're killed, if they show signs of loosing control of their powers, they're killed. Also a group of scientists muddled with human DNA to make it physically painful and even deadly to see another human being dying or in pain (they use animals to do their child killing dirty work). They also altered the DNA to make humans more inclined to react to stress with Sexual intimacy rather than violence. Finally, they put up boundaries around the towns, to act as "psychological barriers" to limit the scope of the psychics' powers.

Considering how everyone's been comparing Mages to walking nuclear bombs, the situation/solution seemed applicable to the Mage/Templar war.

Hmm let's not do that.

If it benefits the Dwarves, that's where I stand. The Dwarves shall always have my allegiance.

Then the Qunari, unless they try to take over the Dwarven kingdoms. Then it's war.

Frankly I'm just using the Mage-Templar War to fulfill my own damn agenda.

At this point, I think I just want to hit the reset button and wipe out all life on Thedas so that it can start over.

More realisticaly, probably the mages, though I could easily swing to a relatively moderate Templar faction. A lot of it will depend on seeing who certain nations throw their lot in with (particuraly Ferelden), as well as what we see leaders of factions doing in DA3.

I have no intention of siding with the Chantry though. I want to see that institution burn to the ground.
