It's killing me that everyone is saying this is "sooo easy..." I must monumentally suck if that's the case but I'm just not sure how I will get that much better. I don't have my UR's to lvl 10 (heck most are at II or III) I have most of my gears to lvl V, and IV amps... but still.. stuff kills me pretty quickly! I've watched the videos.. I've read the forums, I'm accumulating the kit.. over 900 games completed... and still soloing is NO WHERE near in my cards... yes with a Kroguard I've survived whole matches with a team of 4 and not get 'downed' (sometimes) but that's with 3 other guns.. I've even clutched the end of a wave 2-3 times... but how the bleep does one do ALL of it by themselves? I've read all the tips.. and still... Nope.. I have one LEGIT bronze solo.. and was just finishing the objectve on a wave 10 solo (bronze) when a phantom synced me... What must I do.. and LOL'zzz at the Platinum solos... I barely lasted 15 seconds into the first wave on Platinum last night (was on a Havoc with 7 stim packs)..
Basically think of yourself as a fugitive or a train engine. Run -> Stop and shoot ->. Run. Make everything follows behind you. The things you killed may spawn in the direction you're running at but mostly those enemies are easier than the things that are following you (probably bosses).
Also for each enemy type in the wave, you should consider how dangerous is the enemy to you vs wave budget cost vs how easy is it to kill, then aim to kill the easy to kill but dangerous but expensive on wave budget. For my style, ravagers, abominations, pyros, engineers/atlases are easy targets. Other major targets due to their danger level for me, include marauders, rocket troopers, collector captains, dragoons
Also make sure you keep an eye on your shield bar. If its going down for no reason, run forward because a enemy is behind you shooting. If you see bullets/beams flying from behind you, check their color so you know what enemy it is.
Use your audio. A lot of enemies make a lot of sound. Use that to locate and identify.
If possible, stand on stairs when shooting something in relative safety (eg brutes without marauders) so you don't get surprised synced by incoming banshees. Stay away from walls when facing reapers.
Run diagonally. This reduces hits from trackers like RT rockets, prime pulses, ravagers, etc.
There are other things like aggro mechanics that are important in solos but you can discover those on your own. A big part of the fun in this game was learning how things work and solos do help in that
