Do I, or don't I?

Up until a few weeks ago, I was really psyched for ME2 - I couldn't wait to get back into FemShep's boots and blow the nine hells out of some aliens- But recently my interest has waned significantly. I'm pretty sure I had the same feelings about Dragon Age: Origins, now that I think about it. I picked ME back up the other day, and I just couldn't get back into it. The combat felt a bit poor, it doesn't perform overly well, Sheperd runs really oddly and all that.
So, should I pick ME2 up on release day regardless? I'll probably get it one day if not.
Note: I was going to get the Collector's Edition, but Steam announced a Digi Deluxe, so I'd be getting that instead (I run everything through Steam at the moment)

As for performance...the hardware requirements haven't increased substantially, with the exception of now requiring at least a dual core CPU. Otherwise it's said to run as well or better than the first game. Texture pop has been mentioned by several reviewers to have been eliminated. I can't really say much about animations. I'd guess they've probably been touched up a bit along with improvements to the character model details but I don't think it would be anything to brag about.

How many times have you been through the first game? I've been experiencing a bit of fatigue with it as well while trying to put finishing touches on one last character. What is it about the combat that you don't like? Have you watched any of the recent gameplay videos for ME2?

I'm on my third playthrough, I think. Level 58! I've watched quite a bit of the ME2 videos so far, and it does look quite good. Not sure how ammo will go down, nor how much interest I'll have in heavy weapons. None of the companions really seem to appeal to me (except Miranda, om nom nom), and the voice of TIM is really annoying me. It doesn't fit with his face!
My PC is nicely above the specs for ME1/2 (2.75GHz dual core, 2GB RAM, 9800GT, Win XP), so I'm really just thinking my performance issues are due to the nature of ME being a bit of a port. It's not as bad as it was pre-Pinnacle Station, but it's not the smoothest ride.

Heavy weapons seem to be the answer to ME1 relatively boring and inflexible grenades. I won't presume upon your preferences regarding gameplay, but if you are open to shooters, then it's worth mentioning that combat in ME2 should be greatly improved in this regard. Reviewers have expressed favorable opinions of ME2's crew members and character interaction. Personally I'd say go for it.

And I'm completely not staring at Miranda to the right of the screen. Nope.

I think the combat and everything really will be much better. My interest hasn't waned, yet. I am really looking forward to the companions. They look like a huge step up.

I can barely play through an hour of ME without getting bored of it, so I know how you feel. I desperately want to get a savegame on this PC, but it is very difficult.

I think I can only do one mission before I close up. After getting Tali's geth info I almost killed myself! Lol.
I still have a ways to go.. i did read a Dev comment on the old ME forums that simple cheats like exp and credits would not effect the import save... Soooooo, i just may find myself adding some here and there

Also, may as well buy it on release. My problem is going to be finishing it it before Bioshock 2 comes up. Thats probably not going to happen.

Indeed it is, Isaantia. You're the first person to ever pick up on that! I saw them in Manchester on their reunion tour and it was absolutely mindblowing.
I think I'm going to have to get it, aren't I?
