I was planning on using my first character (Anora queen, Loghain alive, Alistair v. drunk, Madoc v. dead), but I read somewhere that DA:A doesn't respond to save games where the PC ends as a heroic corpse - so I'll probably pick my second character, instead. I'd like to experience what the expansion is like with an Orlesian GW, but not before I've continued from one of my own playthroughs of the original.
if your character died you can load the game and play through as the Orlesian with the choices your dead character made

Yes. It's been confirmed. If you load a save where you died, you play the Orlesian grey warden and all your old characters main choices carry over into the sequel.

For me it will be my human noble one, where I am married to Anora. Should make for an interesting experience.
Same here. If nothing else because it is so uncertain. Your character made a huge leap into a relationship with an interesting, but certainly not easy, woman and you have no clue how it ends.
Exactly. That'll be the first one I roll up, hopefully its actually touched upon by Bioware. As far as canon endings go, this one was mine. I roleplayed my character as mostly heroic, but prone to dickish actions, tended to jump into things without thinking about them, was forced into being a Grey Warden, and didn't get along with Alistair too well for that reason. Kind of like my Mass Effect Shepard. Game judged him as a Paragon, but he certainly went back and forth for 90% of the game.
Should be fun, even though Awakenings is merely an expansion, not a full fledged sequel which I'm afraid is what everyone REALLY wants.

But I'll probably play the Orlesian warden first, using my self sacrifice saved game - see how it plays out. Then I'll bring out my favourite characters and see how things change.

Dwarf noble. Spared Loghain with Anora as queen. Alistair not executed. I don't expect to run into Alistair in the expansion again with this ending, but I'm curious if I'll get the opportunity to recruit him back into the Grey Wardens.
He's still a Grey Warden. He just leaves you. >.>

So, I have 6 characters that I all enjoy, and apart from 2, all of them have custom things.
Custom hair style, custom skin color, custom eye color, custom hair color etc..
So I was wondering if anyone could say what will happen to them in Awakening? Or just make a predicition please? Sorry, I'm not very technical, so I wouldn't even begin to understand how to transfering a normal character would work.
and to keep On Topic,
depending on the issue I mentioned it will either be,
my non custom lawful good male human noble, who sacrificed himself, Alistair on the throne, Lily being heartbroken after my death. So, a new character.
my female nuetral dalish elf mage. (Yes, I used the programme were you force classes. >_>), romance with Alistair, ending up leaving him to rule alone to return to her clan.

A: Have a Human Noble, accepted ritual, hardened Alistair without Anora as king.
B: Human Noble, Hardened Alistair and Anora rule together, Loghain becoming a Grey Warden. Still need to ponder to take the ritual or not.

This is hard but I'll probably go with either my Male chancellor, or my girl who is queen.Costin_Razvan wrote...

I strongly suspect that the Awakening only picks up the character you select and Bioware uses the ending the developers decided was the best one. It is the only sensible way to handle so many different endings. The only game I know that accommodated multiple endings simply dumped your party in a different part of the world in the new game stripped of levels and gear except for a few special items.

They have said they will adapt Awakening to your play of orgins. So if Alistair is killed in your Orgins, he's dead in your Awakening and so on...

1. Marries Anora and spares Loghain. Alistair runs away. Did the dark ritual so Loghain is now head recruiter of the grey wardens. My personal favorite ending. (Transfering this first.)
2. Hardened Alistair and Anora marry and I spare Loghain. Did the dark ritual so Alistair is really pissed off both Loghain and I lived. Wondering in the expansion if he will forgive me yet. This one could be very interesting. (If they do a canon ending I have a feeling it will be this since everyone lives.)
3. Hardened Alistair and Anora marry and spare Loghain. I didn't do the dark ritual and sacrificed myself so Loghain is the last grey warden. Wonder what will happen between Loghain and Alistair.
4. Anora rules alone and Alistair is executed. I spare Loghain and don't do the ritual and sacrifice myself. Should be interesting to see what the Mac Tirs do now that they basically control Fereldan alone.

It's been confirmed your choices will affect the game. They have not said in detail how this will work. But they have said there will not be one 'canon' choice that excludes what you did. And since the expansion is also confirmed to be in Ferelden, appealing to a different game's decisions (not a Bioware game, btw) doesn't do any good.
