I never knew that it was a sack. Maybe they were bodies in the sacks, and the people were put in there like how some burn bodies, but they just placed them in a sack. Like Hawkes body was put in a sack or something. o-oRGFrog wrote...

That better not be Hawke's body varric is touching. No way will my Hawke die like some chump off camera.
I absolutely agree....I looked really close at that frame and it looked more like a feminine body. I have a feeling it was Aveline esp since it looked like a big battle aftermath.
I hope it is a female, even if it's Aveline or Merrill. I don't mind Hawke dying but it should be on camera in an epic battle or something. an off camera death would be lame.
It could always be a female Hawke... you never know. Besides even if it's a male...wait no never mind, Varric wouldn't look that sad over one of the male companions in DAII
lol why not? He seemed pretty close with anders. So why does it have to be a female?
I'd expect a shake of the head with any of the male companions as in "why why did you bring this onto yourself" because they likely ended up there due to their actions/stubborness. The female companions, however, really had no direct stake in the Mage/Templar was, making their deaths all the more tragic for the fact that they had to be dragged into it.
So either female companion, or a hawke.
They should give whatever companion or Hawke a honorable death. Not some b.s. battle that we didn't even see.
I don't mind my Hawke dying, but I will be dissapointed if Bioware takes a route where we can't even see OUR characters death.
Although this is speculation and we won't know unless confirmed or until we play the game.
But I am going to look at the trailer again and again until I drive myself mad, making sure that wasn't Aveline or my Hawke.
There was no battle. There were a handful of bodies tied up in sackcloth. It was a sacrifice or prisoner transport or kidnapping, etc. Varric may have known who was in the bags, but the way they were tied up, those bagged characters had no chance of anything.
MAN. Now Im watching the trailer again for the 4th time to look at that sack.

Wouldnt that just be a big FU to all those that didn't
go though with the Dark Ritual?
Pretty much, but I wouldn't know. Morrigan always ends up having my male warden's or Alistair's baby.

It looks like a lose-lose situation. OGB can´t do anything world changing during the game because it would differ for the others players. And I dont see BW pulling a Witcher 2 at all, less with a choice from a past game
Well morrigon is optional to kill in Dragon Age Witch Hunt, however that's a dlc.

Okay, so I'm still kinda on the fence about the trailer, mostly because the release date being so far away dampened my mood considerably.
But here is what the trailer tells me:
- I don't mind Varric's look. It just might take some getting used to. He might be a companion again, which I whole-heartedly approve of. (Just make him romanceable this time. Please.)
- The body he was kneeling over was clearly female (you can see da boobies), but I don't think it's a particular character.
- My biggest worry for him is that they might pull an Anders. Please don't let him become all dark and emo. I want him back in all his snarky and charming glory.
- Apparently Cassandra declares war on the Wardens? This makes me doubt that she'll be a companion. Maybe just an important NPC. (Nooooo)
- Her face looks fine. Very pretty and I like the slight hair change. Though she seems to look considerably younger, which I'm not quite content with.
- That Qunari we saw...Iron Bull? Seems to fit the description. It could be Arishok!Sten as well.
- The weather effects look amazing.
- Morrigan doesn't look bad, really. She's just gotten older. Though she does look a lot like Lulu, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Lulu was badass.
- But it hurts to have Morrigan in the game without being able to romance her. I'm still waiting for the day my female protagonist gets a shot at her.
- I would have liked a look at the protagonist.
- Actually, I would have liked a bit more concrete information in general.
- I'm a bit sad that we didn't really get a look at any new characters, aside from the Qunari. I would have liked someone new to speculate on.
By the Maker, I hope we get some more information soon. I won't be able to handle another few months of begging for scraps.
The best thing about this trailer is the non-gender-specific hero shot.
LOOK ITS A HERO BUT THERES SO MUCH SAND YOU CAN'T TELL IF ITS A BOY OR A GIRL. OR BOTH. OR NEITHER.
Thank you bioware for not assigning a gender to the protag!

I'm a bit worried about that for Varric too...but unlike Anders, as much as I would hate for him to become too gloomy, I would understand from a character development perspective where he was coming from. Though I think he won't, that's kind of Varric's real strength, no matter what happen, he just has to keep pushing foward, cause there will always be more stories to tell, and more people to charm.
It also seems pretty clear that he has a reasonable dark past at the start of DAII, so I'm betting this will also make him better at bouncing back to his usual self.
That said, some sad Varric scenes would be really great for his character, they great thing about Varric is that he's complex enough to show things like sadness, without it derailing his usually more upbeat character.

Not entirely true. You can stab her with the good old murder knife, but whether or not she actually died after falling into the Eluvian was never confirmed. Judging from the trailer, and nearly every villain ever that was stabbed and left to die but not actually confirmed dead, I'd bet my money on her managing to heal herself up on the other side or some such.

a Seekers vs. Wardens war starts(or something like that)
Wouldn#'t be so sure about that. Looking at the trailer it could also be Qunari against Warden (would kind of tie in with the DA:O Sten comments), as you see the "griffen" statues .. some explsotion .. the qunari in the rainy night watching an explosion / sparks in the distance ... the Seekers could well be clever "footage cutting" or even Seekers & Wardens against quanari ...
But that is the kind of "guess" work any trailer wants to invite, the kind of "early hype and exitement" etc. like the "Sheperd KIA" teaser footage that was released before ME2.

I loved seeing Varric again. Is it wrong that I squeed his name when I first saw him. Everything else looks really intense and exciting. As for the corpse, I was thinking that it was someone he knew (we knew?) who had been hanged based on the rope around the neck but I would have to re-watch to be sure.
I don't mind the year+ wait. This will be next years NaNoWriMo incentive and I'll have to come up with something else for this year! Looking forward to more speculation and information.

Hmmm. I like this thought. Sort of the hope in the Pandora's box that is Thedas. While a Justice spirit running around didn't turn out too well Wynne's spirit of Faith did.

Another reason I am positive that is a dead major player is that the audio at that point is saying that "none will be untouched". And the bod is female, you can tell right before he touches the face that the body had female breasts. So sad. ;-(
