I'm assuming because a lot of people liked Varric. And he was the only one people didn't really want to kill like the other companions. And Varric was close with Hawke, really no matter rival-or-friendship. 
The same could be said for Morrigan also, but I imagine she is going to play a very big role.

Morrigan is the daughter of Flemeth and had her very own DLC (Dark Ritual not withstanding). If you didn't think she wouldn't play a big role in the franchise then you missed a lot of clues. Morrigan I can understand being in the teaser. Varric? Not even close.

No, I clearly knew she would have a big role. All I was saying, was I also question why Morrigan is in the teaser trailer also sense she had nothing to do with the 2nd game and was barely mentioned.

But like I said, maybe for fan purposes, Varric did play a large role in 2, so I can understand somewhat why he's in there. I figured Anders would of been in the teaser tbh considering he caused this by destroying the option of peace.

I am very much hoping that the Warden and Hawke will play some kind of role. DA2's ending teased that they had disappeared in similar circumstances, so there's definitely a connection.

I'd hope to see my Warden with the other Wardens. And Hawke, at least with her/his companions or someone rushing out to wherever she/he is at, and informing her/him of what conspires in Orlais.

Fabulous announcement trailer Bioware. Im glad you chose to showcase Frostbite, rather than go down the cgi route. For being so short I thought trailer felt very open and grand in scale. You guys have certainly given the bsn plenty of latitude for speculation.

I think many of us was expecting more because we were still with the idea of a release date for this year.

I loved the trailer, liked the new looks, but still, It was too little. Was great to see that old characters will be in the game? Yes, but the little of the game setup that was showed, we already knew from the leaked survey...

PS: Peter Moore talking about EA games at GT, soon Aryn Flinn should be there..

If original Warden is dead, Leliana is probably looking for the Warden from Awakening, so Leliana looking for ''The Warden'' and Cassandra looking for Hawke is not unlikeley at all, and I hope they are. I want to see my Aedan Cousland kick some ass and save the world again, or atleast help save the world .

I really like the look of what little we've seen. The Fall 2014 makes me happy. A lot of time being taken to develop this game and I'm hoping it really pays off.

Open world with a party with you at the same time would be awesome. Hoping to see some Dragon Age Origins combat with the tactics and strategy, just smoothed out and polished rather than the over the top DA2 myself.

Open world could make for some great ambush, etc if they can do it right.

It's a good day to be a Dragon Age fan. Trailer/footage was amazing, and I couldn't be more thrilled to hear that it's getting an extra year of development time than what I was expecting.

And Morrigan is even more irresistable than she's ever been. I hope she's not going to ask me to destroy the world at some point in the game, because if she does... good bye Thedas

Then when I heard FALL 2014 I just sunk into a pit of depression.. Just thinking: I was going to play a lot of DA this summer so I would hype for inquisition. Clearly that's not thecase anymore

They didn't hint at anything, they explicitly said as recently as a few weeks ago that calendar 2013 was the release window.
