I feel like there is a dedicated fanbase to solo-ing, but when i see solos, all i see is kiting and slow-times.

Tell me bsn, especially you hardcore true elites,

are 30+ minute solos not really something to brag about?

+30 minutes solos shouldn't even be talked about. At least not at this time that everyone can solo at least gold.

I won't even put up a solo on youtube that's over 30 minutes, much less brag about it.

Also, I want to let everyone in this thread know: kiting is for scrubs.

I do, since I've yet to do a Gold solo. It ain't about bragging rights to me; it's a stepping stone for my game's progress.

I fired up a public lobby and started a silver mission right away because I figured it would let people in within the first few waves. Ended up soloing a Silver match with my level 1 Kroguard. Not as impressive as a gold/plat solo, but not too shabby either.

Well, the quiet and solitude helps me focus my Chi :)

Actually, they just start out as some kit/gear test for a few waves which then somehow turns into an unplanned solo.

Only those who think skill has anything to do with soloing, and that skill exist in this game at all.

There is no skill in killing "predictable" A.I.

Period.

My gold solos to get BotB took maybe an hour each, with cheapass TGI kiting and stim packing.

I mostly solo if I need to finish up the end of a challenge, like use of a power or weapon. If I can do it in just a wave or two, why bother with an entire match? Especially if I've promoted that class recently, and could use some minor early xp?

The longer the solo, the more admiration from me.

How can you go at it for an hour or even longer?

Hi Ronnie,

Unfortunately this means that you do not know the definition of "skill" then. Skill means

"A skill[/b] is the learned ability to carry out pre-determined results often with the minimum outlay of time, energy, or both. In other words the abilities that one possesses."

Key phrase "learned ability". To be able to solo or even play this game to your full potential in a team game, duo, trio or again a solo does require some skill. You gain these skills by knowledge, playing the game, trying new things out and challenging yourself. I am positive that you are not the same player you are now than on the days you played bronze.

I am not defending solo'ing as I personally prefer team games for sure but there is a level of skill needed. Skill is learned and earned...not something someone is born with. Those are talents and even those need to be sharpened and tuned into by acquiring skills. In other words...there is skill in every aspect of this game.

soloing is a good thing, it teaches you tactics that you may not usually use in a team game, which can allow you to solo waves with pugs if necessary.
but playing solos religiously is pointless imo. its a multiplayer. your nerfing your own experience of the game, even if it is quicker than some pugs, its not as fun.

I take soloing just as seriously as playing with others. I want to win/extract but its not a life or death situation. The great thing about soloing is that you get to host which means no latency and how the game is meant to be played. I don't ever host because I don't want to inflict an NZ connection on others, I feel self conscious when the host leaves and I realize I've taken over and try to finish as quickly as possible. It opens up a few kits which are quite difficult to play effectively off host.

I've never bragged about soloing, I'm generally happy with a 30-40 minute gold solo and I only wore the lone wolf banner until I unlocked another one. I find it enjoyable.

No, they should brag about it only if it is less than 30 minutes.

Yeah you should have 10 waves survived, 8 personal gold medals and sub 20 completion on gold+ before you can say anything. Oh wait, i have not seen anybody produce such "eliteness"...

edit: In case the point is lost, completion time is not everything nor easily achievable depending on what your actual goal is.
