I don't see why people brag about solos really, regardless of time.

It's not like there's cake on the table for them if they succeed.

I'm probably the only person that doesn't care about time, I prefer to challenge myself with hard maps and enemies and by trying to survive the whole game. For those that think time is the only that matters trying doing a 10 waves survived no consumables used platinum solo.

It's the difficulty of the solo that matters, the time is just one factor of that.

 My solos aren't much to brag about but it is rather interesting to watch people suffer.

edit: In case the point is lost, completion time is not everything nor easily achievable depending on what your actual goal is.

I solo because I enjoy it... but I don't do it all the time. I don't really post about it because it's for me. Not the community.

I know if I can ever do a sub-18 gold I'll get a promotion at work, and if I solo platinum I'll get a free car and a spot on the board of directors. So yes, soloing is very serious business with tangible real life benefits and people are wrong not to take it seriously.

I like to tease myself alittle.. but I cant really get into it, most of the time I don't finish.. its so disappointing and unrewarding if I don't finish.. I feel ashamed of myself..

but...when I AM about to finish.. my heart starts racing.. my eyes roll back.. I lose the ability to hold my controller steady...

"keep going!" "keep going!" floods thru my mind.. then it happens.. 10 seconds left. will I finally feel relieved? 7 seconds go by... I start to feel it.

Time definitely isn't the only thing that matters, but it's the particular metagame I find most interesting, tbh.  No consumables used just seems like a lot of kiting and playing hypercautiously not to mention even more aggravating troll spawn RNG.

For people looking to up their game to Silver, I'd say soloing Bronze is probably one of the best training tools you have. It's not required, but it sure helps to be able to do it. Also a good way to study enemy behavior and to practice your own tactics without getting steamrolled.

imo, any solo is commendable, whether cheesy or not. Do you take non-solos seriously?

My two gold solos were abominable. FBGhost/Reapers w/ TSent that took 82 and 76 minutes, respectively. But they represented a big step for me, because I had originally been terrified just to play an online MP game. So I posted about them, not because I thought they were objectively a great achievement, but because I wanted to share my joy at learning I could do something I thought would be impossible for me. And if I could motivate other average players to trust themselves and give it a try, all the better.
Also, Flapjack is an awesome name for a lizard.
