I'm curious about this as well.
Seems that solos are nothing but Enzyte to the e-peen.
My thoughts exactly. I don't think I've ever sat and watched one, but the way I see BSN raving about it, it seems like watching other people play is where it's at, right now.
Of course, they could be at work, or otherwise not able to play, but still...I don't understand how watching someone else play could be enjoyable. But hey, different spokes for different folks. Or whatever that saying is.

Hi Ronnie,
Unfortunately this means that you do not know the definition of "skill" then. Skill means
"A skill[/b] is the learned ability to carry out pre-determined results often with the minimum outlay of time, energy, or both. In other words the abilities that one possesses."
Key phrase "learned ability". To be able to solo or even play this game to your full potential in a team game, duo, trio or again a solo does require some skill. You gain these skills by knowledge, playing the game, trying new things out and challenging yourself. I am positive that you are not the same player you are now than on the days you played bronze.
I am not defending solo'ing as I personally prefer team games for sure but there is a level of skill needed. Skill is learned and earned...not something someone is born with. Those are talents and even those need to be sharpened and tuned into by acquiring skills. In other words...there is skill in every aspect of this game.
whats crack vader, come back to the box man!
I know the def. of skill, what your confusing with skill is actually an "adaptation" to the A.I. in ME3MP. Also, that def. can be applied to the game in various ways, depending on the player/veiwer. If you really want the minimum outlay of time, energy, or both, soloing is "THE WORST" way to go about it since this game is ment for 1~4 people in the squad and by soloing, you choosing the least effective way of carrying out the same task. Also this game isn't "difficult" to pick up, ANYONE can become a beast player in this game, does that mean everyones got skillz? Naa, it just means the game isn't that complicated enough.
Can you say that if the way a phantom came at you changed between 5 different offensive attacks you'd get a "skillfull" result? I know that everytime I see something new (and its quite frequent even after a year), its usually so surprising and unordinary that it kills me and/or cost me the game. (Like the 1st time I noticed a banshee teleport through a wall, or getting grabbed over cover by an atlus, or watching a pyro do a barrel roll, doens't happen very often, but it only needs to happen once to know, its possible, hence, i adapted to the A.I.) Skill would be being able to get out of the situation while it was taking place, which unfortunetly Bioware made in more ways than I think they even know, you can't.
The game has way to much retard slow mechanics, way to many "may as well have dropped my controller" moments, and is completely "skill limiting" since there arent enough instinces where a player can change the outcome of an event. This game is literally a tic tac toe match, meaning you have to do this to get this result, which is also why Infiltrators and very powerfull weapons like Harrier, Claymore are popular, because they are the "most effective" way of going about a game that removes the need to have fast enough reaction to even be labeled skillfull. By not using these (not in particular though) classes/weapons you will always get a less "skilled" looking game.
Basically what I'm saying, skill would relate to this game more along the lines of, how you react to an event. In say a fighting game like Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3, a player has skills because the game is simply action/reactions vs another player, no matter the team you use, as long as you are good, you can beat any other team. This game is way to much reaction/result vs an A.I. If you bring a predator to a platinum match on a volus, with no missles and a horrible team, your game will always be terrible. Being better than someone else at that, or being able to do it on your own, is NOT skillfull.
It’s still a skill, like being able to post a concise and grammatically correct response to a thread on a forum without resorting to unnecessary typographic effects for emphasis.

I think the real question is do people enjoy soloing?
I surely get bored watching it. Although I do appreciate how hard it is. But, unfortunately, it is rarely entertaining.

I have patience for 6 waves and then it's gone, and for the skill..I gues I don't have enough then.
But you are right about both

That is absurd. They both require skill however speedrunning requires more knowlege and experience of your character, the enemy and the map.

speed runners clearly have more skills than soloers. Speed running takes and overwhelming amount of skill and team synergy. Nuking spawn and rng contributes very little. Its all the players own ability with the character. Rocketing takes skill. Only a scrub cant recognize that fact. Soloing is boring as f*ck why would anybody even bother...... I hope I sounded convincing:?

lol. Soloing takes skill in the same way that driving a car takes skill. Solo speedrunning takes skill in the same way that competing in the grand prix takes skill.
BTW I completed my first sub 25 run with a mouse I couldn't ADS with.

You are a conundrum. I was in a party with you a few days back and there was no shortage of criticism and commentary coming from you in reference to whatever PUG lobby you were "solo-ing" in. This tells me that you have some idea of a standard, some notion of skill.
And since you have an N7 rank of 20,000 and happily let people know of this (and we can all conclude that you spent a large amount of time in this game), why even bother with a game that supposedly takes no skill?
Why did you waste your time?

I'm probably the only person that doesn't care about time, I prefer to challenge myself with hard maps and enemies and by trying to survive the whole game. For those that think time is the only that matters trying doing a 10 waves survived no consumables used platinum solo.
It's the difficulty of the solo that matters, the time is just one factor of that.
Are you? I believe I play the same way if I'm not mistaken

Agreed, the comparison is right in my opinion. As Salmon says, some solos are obviously harder than others, and that would correspond to the track being easier/harder. But going faster is always going to be harder than taking all the time you want. There is, in fact, a wall where some solos are not humanly possible to speedrun, pretty much. So you've got to choose between doing easier runs, but faster, or doing the hardest runs and taking all the time you want. It's a personal choice. I prefer to speedrun, I'd hate to take 50 mins to do a solo. But it's just me.
