Y'know, I just realized that Clr Tevos stood for Councilor Tevos, and not "Cir" Tevos. Just so you know, I jacked that name for one of my Asari kits.

Anyway, I'm with you. I'm an exceptional player, if I may say so myself. I just don't have the patience, confidence, or motivation to even attempt a high-level solo, and fail to see why anybody would enjoy them, much less watching them. That failure to comprehend them is why I just label all soloists masochists.

Kiting is fine. I realize if you play NASCAR long enough with the AI, you'll get it. Everyone says they got soloing skillz, so I'd like to see that instead of solos that manipulate the AI in any way, shape or form. More educational. Like old school, before grenade gear garbage.

I don't recall ever having to wash my hands after performing a reload cancel or taking a bath after a half-decent kite....


So I either have poor hygiene, or you'd have to explain how legitimate game tactics are unclean. Knowing how to kite and when is a good skill to have. Knowing how to reload cancel consistently is a show of good timing and multitasking. Sometimes I wonder if you insist that solo-ing is easy only because deep down you doubt whether you'd be able to successfully complete a majority of your solo runs.

This is not to say that I'm in support of e-peen threads or that I have a passion for solos (cause past the Lone Wolf banner, I don't), but I wouldn't relentlessy dog every thread concerning them, claiming or insinuating they're a piece of cake.

Ah I see. So you are one of the ones who think cheating the AI is a legitimate tactic. That may or may not be true. But in this game, that hardly consitutes a skill. Now, I have no way of proving that it took me 4 attempts with an AJ to do my 2 Gold  solos which I only did about a  month or so ago. At that point I had a thorough knowledge of the game, so no, it didnt take 100 tries to do it and then post a video. But again, you can or dont have to take my word for it. I dont care. I hate soloing which is why it took me so long to do it.

If you noticed the guys who took in excess of 2 hours to complete these, Ill give ya two guesses why. They either hate to solo or they suck at it and any fool that can kite enemies around long enough will eventually complete it. Its not that hard to trick the AI into following you ESPECIALLY using an Infiltrator.

As Ive stated in the past. Ive played with just about everyone who is a solo master and when tossed in a PUG, you know, them lowly lowly PUGs everyone complains about, they arent any better than I am. And Im not even that good (nor do I abuse the AI. Yay ME!!!) NONE of my builds up until recently, have ever ever been about point whoring or killing fast. Theyve always been a mix of survival and DPS. And against some of the heralded skilled players on here, unless they nuked spawns, again, they werent any better than me. 

So. Anyone who claims to have 'skills' in this game just means hey, I can manipulate the AI better than the next guy. Thats it. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Come at me weenies. 

Edit: Oh yeah. This is a COOP game. To even say you can beat the next guy is just dumb as a rule anyways. Even on stationary bikes.

Forgot to mention that hosting your own game or a lobby is infinitely easier than being off host. Its like night and day.

You wrote that it is dumb to say that you can beat the next guy. You also wrote that you have played with the master solo'ers of this game and they are no better than you. I understand it is not saying the exact same thing but...indirectly it somewhat is. By saying someone is not better than you does that also means you have beat them?

I just find your comments interesting for as much as youd want to pawn yourself as lowly your comments are extremely elitist. I respond to tons of subscribers who have difficulties solo'ing, playing team games, duos, trios, challenges, speed runs etc.... and they all trouble in one way or the other.

It also seems that this forum has absolutely not clue of what the actual meaning of "skill" is. I have even posted here directly from the dictionary and it still gets confused. I dont feel like doing it again but simply put there is skill in everything you learn to do in this game and every game. People just tend to misunderstand what skill means since this is not a PVP. The dicitionary makes it extremely clear. There is skill involved in all aspects of this game and others.

First solo I ever saw was with the Salarian Engineer on Gold back when the game first came out literaly right after the demo. Is using decoy a manipulation of the AI? That was old school........not sure your arguments are valid

He is right. You can do it. Thing is ....do you need to? I always try to inspire confidence in others so that they can achieve. That is the reason I started doing Platinum videos a long time ago but this game is for fun. If you want to do a solo to get your BOB banner then do it. If you dont care and solo'ing is just not fun for you...then dont. Just have fun. Im sure you'll be fine having fun and enjoying the game. That's what its all about anyways. Fun.

Soloing is just a different ball game. I remember several months ago how sometimes the host quit and everyone left and I was all alone. I used to think it was a personal achievement to survive one wave on bronze, then on silver!

Now I can solo bronze and silver (under certain conditions which have to be in my favour!)

I can hold my own on gold or plat most of the time (honestly the bigger battle is holding my nerves together). But when I see the times posted on these solo videos which are like an hour and a half... That's what puts me off the most! It's just scary to be alone for that long

Woa woa. No. You are totally wrong. When I write to have fun I truly mean have fun. It is not an indirect stating that you are a bad player. I game with a TON of different people who some could care less about solo'ing. 

I truly meant that if you want to solo to get your BOB then do it and I'd even be happy to help. If solo'ing doesnt interest you then thats fine too. 

Sorry for any misunderstanding but I truly did mean....just have fun. Many forget that this is a game and get caught up in "serious" discussions. 

If you truly are interested in solo'ing and are on xbox just send me a message and I can help you as well. Again though...just have fun and dont let anyone think that you need to solo to be considered a good player. I know many team players that are awesome and have never solo'd.

I don't know about taking solo seriously, but I do find it fun most of the time I've done it. I find it fun to try a run and see if I can pull it off (or not) with some classes. After I first started playing Golds with my friends I found it a challenge to start a Gold match and see how far I could get and where I went wrong.

I can say I've never seen/done a 2hr plus solo, but does it *really* matter to anyone not doing the solo how long it takes? It's not your life, you're not playing that match and it affects you in no way whatsoever!
Heck, I don't even see that many posts here about them and if I do I go congratulate them, it's an accomplishment. I know I was psyched when I did my first Bronze and then my first (and only) successful Gold solo, it was pretty damn heady feeling to have done that.

Decoy is one of your powers, so no, it isnt cheating the AI per se. Im talking more like the Warp+Incendiary bugs and stuff of that nature people take advantage of. The things people call "legitimate tactics" or "clever use of game mechanics".

I would say back in the day, the ability to solo Gold was a feat. Today. Not so much.

Done. My two gold solos were like that. Of course, you could complain that I used a Krogan Vanguard with a Reegar but I definitely never shot through walls, had no spawn control, didn't use a geth scanner, only used 3 rockets and if I ever reload canceled then it was an accident.
I think I completed both in under 25min, too. They were my only attempts and nothing I'll ever repeat. I had hack, devices, escort, pizza... everything. Didn't matter really. Krogan Vanguard is pretty much a guarantee for success.

I was mainly just teasing - I love to put myself down all the time, sorry!

It's just a personal thing that niggles me and makes me feel inadequate. Being a team-player is definitely important, but I just think of solo vs team as the difference between the cool person who wins all the gold medals on sports day and the poor person who always comes third on the podium.

Okay, yeah - weird analogy, I know.

Anyway, I appreciate your offer of assitance but honestly I can't take you up on it. I don't mean offence or anything; it's just that I'm shy, nervous and better off doing my own thing.

For now I think I'll just have to be content being that person who always gets bronze medals and never the gold ones...

Medals mean crapola. Being a team player. Getting extraction. Thats the whole point of this coop MP. Sure. Some will not be so good as others, but together you get it done. At least thats how I measure success. I cna purchase whatever I need to purchase cause the credits just keep on a comin'

All solos are created equally, obviously.. I too am not a fan of solos that take longer than they should.. the key is knowing how long they should take through experience, not speculation.
