I am pretty sure that was Varric. Do you really think that anyone else would have a crossbow like Bianca. I doubt it since she was the only repeating crossbow that was ever made. Also Sandal would use enchantments like every time before when he faced danger. I don't think he would even know how to use a weapon.

That dwarf look young, and lost weight...maybe Sandal learn using crossbow from Varric...who knows? Maybe Sandal just want a style....he's a young man now...the clothing is Orlesian, i doubt varric want to wear Orlesian clothing

He looked different due to the new engine.  Also, the earrings are just like Varric's.  Look at Morrigan, she looks completely different too.

Oh my god the trailer was amazing, the visual fidelity was unlike anything I've ever seen from a BioWare game. They really know what to focus on. The intrigue, the story it told too. So deep and personal - it's Morrigan!

This could actually be better than the Riley reveal from Call of Duty: Ghosts.

oh damn, just watched the interview and they mentioned 'actiony combat' I hope far, far less so than most MMOs or DA2...

Interview.  You will be the inquisitor.  Actiony combat (but with some tactical aspects..), 'fade breach in the sky'  ,'blurring the line between single player, multiplayer and cooperative play; '

Gone from 'Morrigan!  Mage Templar war! Qunari invasion! YESS...to oh dear..

Placed a link and edited the orginal post.

To me it doesn't sound like 'awesome button' is back..just not as dead as I would like, and the cooperative/multiplayer comments make me nervous.

If I want a cooperative RPG that is what RP servers on MMOs are for, (or indeed the entire of EVE-O, for a given value of RP)

This is ofc taken from a really non-confrontational interview and is first impressions and speculation at best, but still.

There's been a lot of excitement from the trailer-- it's nice to see. The team is certainly jazzed by it.

Wouldn't mind if this next year or so would be kind enough to pass quickly.

I'm sure it will pass more quickly than the team would like. We have a lot to do. ;)

I'm not thrilled about "actiony combat," but I knew it wasn't going back to DA:O no matter what.  What really concerns me is "blurring the line"...I do *not* want my single player RPG lines blurred, please.  If others want co-op and multiplayer, cool, but keep it out of the single player campaign.

I really don't want to have to say this isn't the game for me, but I guess it's better if I know these details sooner than later.  I hope we don't have to wait a year or more for clarification.

Thing is if the line blurring is done like Baldurs gate did it, being able to have the party split between multiple players for the main campaign, if you wanted to play that way.. fine with me, go for your life I wouldn't have to choose to do it.  If it is more than that clarification on how to turn it off would be great.

His hatred of DA2.

You wish :P. But no, just guessing. Hawke was supposed to be another Shepard, the one who rocks the world. Instead he was buried in silence. No expansion just shallow nameless grave.

I don't want all those extra people to be in my game. Now we know why they need the extra year.Mage attacks templars, templars attack wardens, wardens attack mages, all on line and multiplayer...what a mess.Image IPB

"Actiony Combat" so awesome buttton is confirmed.
"Focusing on Single Player aspect" multiplayer confirmed, they said the same thing about Mass Effect 3.
Also, good luck balancing classes since mages will rip everyone to shreds.

Personally, I don't see BG2 or even NWN as "blurring lines" when it comes to cooperative play...if people wanted to play the single player game alone, there was nothing about that experience that was changed.

It's the way ME3 handled Galactic Readiness and EMS in single player that has me nervous, as far as I'm concerned, it should not have existed at all, and I'm willing to not purchase games that do anything like that in the future to express my distaste.  I'd really, really like to not see anything like that game mechanic in Dragon Age.

I can definitely see them doing an equivalent of Galaxy At War - level your multiplayer characters and deploy them for whichever side of the conflict / as additional troops to fight the demons. As long as it's entirely optional and subsequently removable (or applied to separate characters at will), I have no problem with it.
I would have a problem with it if it was handled as in ME3.
I'm quite certain I'll be playing the DA3 multiplayer if it indeed gets included, but I still don't want it messing with my SP.

So...are we going to assume the role as our Hero of Ferelden?!! I hope so. I'm really reading into that sandstorm scene and Morrigan talking to "me".

"blurring the line" was the interviewers phrase.  Mr Flynn actually seemed quite keen to distance himself from it really, though he seems to have an unfortunate aversion to actually disagreeing with anything the interviewer said.  But he placed it quite firmly in the "something we might do in the future" box, while saying that the empasis was on the single player story.

edit:  And "actiony combat" was just part of the spiel about finding a middle ground between DA:O and DA2.  Though I don't know where he got the idea that DA2 has better animations.

They already stated that we'll play as the Inquisitor, who will be a new PC, and that the Warden's story is over (at least from the player's POV. We might heard/see the Warden again, but we'll not play as him/her again).

Thanks.  I haven't really been following the details.  I buried myself in Mass Effect lore from March 2012 to March 2013.

No problem;).
Wulfram, Thanks for the better info about the interview. While I'll be on the fence about MP-SP integration until info will be released, what Flynn said was a bit different from what was stated before your post.

Wow, those visuals are incredible. That's a huge, huge jump in fidelity from DA2/ME3. My poor computer would likely choke and die a horrible death trying to play that...

I'm iffy on the prospect of a large open world. Won't that introduce pacing issues with the narrative? Not to mention being a huge zot dump, and for what benefit? Yeah, people seem to love these open worlds (a la Skyrim), but in my humble opinion they're just large, empty, pointless spaces. Seems like a waste of resources. I hope you guys find the right balance.

The delay to 2014 is nice. I'm sure the game will shape up to quite a suitable degree of epic-ness in that time.

I preferred Morrigan with her idiosyncratically large lower lip. :)

I'm quite cautious about the open world claims as well and would prefer developers to focus more on coherent narrative (in which they excel) instead of providing a sandbox experience (which can be great but soon becomes boring and repetitive). Suprisingly the scope of Skyrim did not feel all that great with its open world, since I could travel between distant points of the map in a matter of minutes... What I wouldn't mind though are big, open levels, where quests can be completed in a non-linear manner.

Otherwise I loved practically everything about this teaser ^_^ (save for the release date)

And you really should be. Congrats to everyone on the team (especially to whoever worked on Morrgian's model, it's just glorious).
The thing is: you left fans wanting more, so they'll be coming back to hear more. It'up to you now to give us a steady amount of info to keep us interested.

My impression would be that the "open world" will more end up being that, say, DA:O would have had one big Ostagar area, one big Denerim area, one big Brecilian forest area, one big Deep Roads, rather than splitting them up into bits. Which wouldn't have major pacing issues or really cost very much more zots.

Though I personally wouldn't want that. I think the area transitions can help give a sense of scale, by implying that there's more stuff that was simply skipped over because it wasn't really relevant to the story.

It was a decent trailer. A few nice reveals (Morrigan, Varric....Cassandra doesn't strike me as overly surprising given her appearance in DA2 and other media). Tells very little though, which I suppose is standard for many teasers/trailers. I would have preferred to see some actual gameplay as well, but I guess it's too early for that.

Ultimately it's gameplay that will sell me on this. What the player interaction and experience is. The open world comments have me a tad....hesitant. If they mean expansive with plenty of places to explore, cool (think DA world map on steroids). If they mean sandbox a la Skyrim, not so good.

Gameplay though. That's what I want to see. The playing experience, the interface, class details, talents, skills if they're back, combat and how it works. That's what I need to see. DA2 left an immeasurably dour outlook for DA's future in me. I'll need to see the gameplay before I get excited.

Still, a very nice trailer BW. Very nice indeed....and that sword sticking in the ground before panning over to Varric....is that a Grey Warden's sword (like the one seen in the DAO trailers and on the DAO Collector's Edition cover)??  The Warden's Calling trailer has a good example of the sword I'm speaking of.

*Edit:  Yep, those are definitely Warden blades.  Looks like Varric may be mourning some Warden's....possibly even Bethany/Carver specifically.

*Edit 2:  Anyone else getting a Cylon vibe from that DAI still image with the helmet?  :P
