If you look closely at the 'no horns' picture, you'll see the dragon has pushed its head fully forwards and flat to roar. The horns are still there, they're just now parallel to the line of its neck. You can clearly see one pointing back towards its body in the image.

All I can say about the distinctly corrupted-looking dragon is that it looks like its either suffering from demonic possession, or the darkspawn have been at it. Neither are particularly comforting options if you happen to be Orlesian!

Now, I'll freely admit that trailer videos don't set me alight for the game ahead. Except...erm...this one actually did. Am definitely looking forward to seeing more of what's to come from DA3 now. I'm not ruling out future epic rants if it turns out to feel like Kirkwall Adventures all over again, but for no immediately obvious reason this video has managed to flick a switch that reminded me that, at heart, I'm still a huge fan of Bioware and the DA series.

It hasn't made me forgot just how much I disliked DA2, I'm not sure anything will ever do that, but it has given me the first glimmer of hope that this is a masterpiece in the works and not DA2 part deux.

That DAI will not be a DA2 part deux I really do not expect to begin with.

There will be some features that were introduced there (voiced MC, cheese wheel and such) of course as has been clearly stated by BW.

As far as the storyline goes; part of it will be about the mage/templar war which DA2 was the prelude for, telling a story about a person that survived the blight in DAO and went to Kirkwall where things took place. For me the story of the Thedas world is naturally evolving and that is something that is appealing for me in the franchise.

How the game overall will be set up in terms of combat, camera etc (all the technical stuff) is another matter. Untill actual footage about that is released all we can do about that is guess/discuss and hope that what we would like to see will be implemented :).

hmmmm.
Did the DAO Sacred Ashes trailer accurately reflect what was going to happen in the game ? Other than fighting a dragon I would say no .If anyone disagrees with me then please explain.
Did the DA2 trailer accurately portray game events. You did fight a Qunari but overall I would say no.
Basically it seems all this analysis people are doing of the trailer is a waste of time. Doesn't prove anything. Won't prove anything.

The DA team is different from the ME 3 team. And as I see it, Bioware is a company which learns form the mistakes they make. As such I predict that we will not see the same ending to the DA trilogy as we did with the ME trilogy. [Unless the God Child from ME 3 actually is the Maker in
DA: Inquisition ;) ).

I still have doubts about the plot: find the agents of chaos and hunt them down. You're a member of the Inquisition. You'll need to gather an army to save the world --- or not....? Seems like the same save the world formula that I have played countless time over and over....the plot in DA2 (not executed well, I agree on that) was a nice difference from this...

You're like the 4th person in 10 pages to say the series will end with Dragon Age 3.

Have I missed something? Last I read, Gaider himself consistently stated that the Dragon Age series was explicitly different from the Mass Effect series, and it would NOT be a 3 part trilogy. Has recent news disputed that? There seems to be an overwhelming consensus that Dragon Age 3 is the end, and I can't for the life of me find any credible source that confirms it.

So Dragon Age 3 is apparently the end? Yes/no? :(

^ Not a trilogy.

David Gaider wrote...

As mentioned above, Dragon Age was never a trilogy. We never even implied it might be. I imagine that simply Mass Effect marketing getting conflated. We've said that Dragon Age is about the world, and we'll keep telling stories so long as there are stories to tell.

Perhaps the scene where we see Varric can take place in the game only under certain conditions. That could be an explanation?

About the flag, maybe the logo has been modified (on purpose) by the developers so we can not draw conclusions too hasty before the game is ready. Or the logo on the flag changes depending on the choices we made during the game? Could it be a mixture of different emblems, griffon, owl, ...?

Speculations ^^

The trailer was awesome. The new engine has some pretty awesome graphics. I'm pumped for this game and the 2014 fall date makes me think bioware will have a great hit in their hands. The way the narration ended in the trailer makes me think you will have a choice on which side you will be fighting for.
Also do you think corypheus will play a roll with the wardens? Do you think he might of triggered the wardens being attacked by the seekers? (If the speculation of the seekers attacking the wardens is true)

Ugh if you're not going to show gameplay then at least make a cg trailer that actually looks good.

*opens wallet after seeing trailer* Awww.....Fall 2014?

Okay, I was excited for DA:I before the trailer....now? Now I wish I had a time machine so I could jump forward a year.

I don't think my poor heart can handle 15+ months of speculation....

Interesting new look to the characters, love the animation, and the new demons, Cassandra's neck is too thin....

The keep does look a lot like a Grey Warden keep. When you first see the keep in the trailer, pause it. On the right there's a statue that looks a lot like a Griffin; which were ridden by Grey Wardens in the past and is often used as their "symbol".

Just an interesting tidbit I found from the world of Thedas book regarding the Veil:

"...It may be weakened in places where great death lingers or through magic. ...On extremely rare occasions, the Veil may tear. This may be done with powerful magic, or come about after the slaughter of a great many people in a short period."

Page 141 for those who have it. It's very interesting for those that don't. Definitely worth getting.

Gah, I wanted to see Orlais. I wanted to see cities, people, architecture, shady back alleys, rundown taverns, the slums and the cream of the crop. All I got was something out of a Call of Duty game with a Claudia Black voice over. And while I do love Claudia Black and was nice seeing Varric, this doesn't sell me at all. It got me neither hyped nor excited.

It looks like a deer head with crazy antlers. Not Grey Warden related, which just makes things more confusing.

Ignoring the ocotpus, am I the only one seeing a demon head with a sharp nose and very pointy teeth?

Am I the only one who sees DA2's Flemeth in that picture? I mean the snarly teeth are completely new but... that's her face and hair.

I think the trailer was pretty disappointing. If this is the art style they are going to keep... meh. I was hoping a mix between Origins and DA2, not a DA2 update. I see this trailer as the first step in the way that will confirm to Origins fans as me, that the statements about "middle ground" between the two previous games, were just void PR declarations.

Was watching the trailer for, lets say the "3rd" time :D, and noticed something.
When the door of the Grey Warden fortress is busted, you can see what looks like a silluete of a person with pointy hair (flameth?) holding a staff or something, for like half a second before the light cuts it off. Usually you use battering rams for that, but that didnt look like any i've ever seen (granted im not a battering ram kind of guy anyway) and why even use one when you could just blow stuff up with your mind. :o
Of course it could just be my eyesight going bananas (maker knows it wouldn't be the 1st time) but though i'd share it (read as, add more fuel to the fires) with you fine flamers....peeps of the BSN

Um. It is a mix between the two. In fact, it seems more like Origins style than DA2. To me at least. The design is darker. The level with Cassandra could have been from a HD pack from DA:O. The monster/demon designs are much more in the line of DA:O's Darkspawn and Awakening's Mother.

If you dislike the "new" (it's a few years old now) design of the qunari, dwarves, and elves. Well, they've already said they're not going back to the DA:O designs. And for the most part they look more 'lived-in' than the ultra clean DA2 designs did.

I think this is a melding of the two. And in a new engine to boot. So it was all built up from nothing. Bravo on that, BioWare.

...although there's something about the qunari I don't like. Can't quite put my finger on it... too bulky? Horns maybe? I'm sure it'll disappear as I see them more.

That's a hell of a tear in the Veil. I mean... goddamn that's a huge tear.

I can't imagine what did that.

Ok, I can.

1- Actual Factual Gods.
2- A Massacre So Horrible Thedas Has Never Seen Its Like.*
3- Something on the Other Side Opened It.
4- Payment.

Gods are easy to explain. It's a fantasy world of elves and dwarves. If there wasn't gods in a universe like that... then that's kinda weird.

We already know great violence can rip the Veil. We've seen it time and time again. And we just happen to have a trailer where every race and organization we've met in two games seems to be murdering one another. Give peace a chance, guys! Now Slender Man and Alien Queens are running around Thedas. Ain't no one got time for that.

If demons and the like really want to be in the mortal realm (why, by the way? Just to experience it? That seems a little unlikely, right? Besides demons tell us that's the only reason they want to be here. And they're known for being ugly and liars.) So exactly how much do they want to be here? Enough to rip the Veil through some horrible practice on their side? Is that even possible?

And finally payment. Payment in the fact that nothing in the universe is without cost. The DA games have shown that time and time again. Yet so many people have magic. And stone/liquid magic just happens to dot the land.

...so what was the price for all that? This is the least thought out possibility, I agree. But I still hold it could be the past arriving and asking for the check. Perhaps payment due for some Tavinter spell (sinking Arlathan). It could be the return of the elven gods (locked away in different realms by Fen'Harrel). Just the past coming back in a big big way.

*-This is impossible. If the history of Thedas teaches us anything it's that Thedas loves massacres. It's hard to out-kill Exhaulted Marches, genocides, and Blights. But you've got to respect their continued attempts at beating the high score.

Personally, I'd rather not know. I'd rather not go too into the specifics and actually be surprised when something happens in game. It's like the new Superman movie's trailers. I've seen so many, I've practically seen the entire film, by now. So please, leave the spoilers out of it.

I took a closer look and I think it's probably a ram...might be wrong though, it could be some mega telekinetic burst force mage spell!

Not quite sure whats so spoilerific about it, since its in the trailer.
By that train of though you could say the whole trailer is a spoiler i
guess, but thats your opinion, you're entitled to one, it doesnt have to
match mine, i dont have to like or agree with it, just respect it [smilie]http://social.bioware.com/images/forum/emoticons/joyful.png[/smilie] Just noticed it while watching the trailer and though i'd share it, since i dunno if anyone had mentioned it.
About the superman trailers i dunno, never watched any nor i am interested...a grown man wearing his underwear over tights isn't really my thing, kinda like the battering rams :o

You're probably right, it the pic it looks a bit more like a battering ram...
Ooooh well, i still think its more practical to just blow it up with a spell, but i shall concede to your critical analysis
