I was expecting a rogue protagonist to be used in the trailer, but it seems like a warrior.

It is always a human male soldier in heavy armor. Have you learnt nothing?

He was standing up in the desert with a hangover wondering how the **** he got there and how kickass that party with Varric was last night.

Why does it say "actual game footage"? isn´t this a cgi trailer? I mean, this looks nothing like a ingame cinematic, and it has no gameplay at all, therefore it must be something like the sacred ashes trailer for DAO, or the hawke/arishok fight for DA2.

Putting "actual game footage" to something that may well not be inside the game once it ships is very misleading.

"Actual in game pre-encoded bink video." I'd love it if they ditch those for real time rendering though.

As DA3 is going to be released on both today's and next gen systems......what visuals are they actually showing.....current or next gen?

That war room map with the army-bricks have some kind of symbol representing each of them. The right one looks like the seeker/chantry sun, the middle one looks like an angel and the left one looks to me like a bell with the circle of magi symbol.

Anyone else see this or am I blind?

I just really hope the reason that Varric looked so sad wasn't that we knew the person in this bag.

Hawke. That's his in game cameo.

It means it was rendered in the engine used for the game. We can assume that it is for PC unless they state otherwise.

God dammit, Protag! You used a mystical artifact that destroyed the Veil and now demons are destroying the world!
"Sorry"
No worries, hand it over and we'll repair the veil. We'll forgive you for the millions dead.

Well, they did have a mage Hawke in the second game, so it's not always true, but yeah, a female protagonist or a rogue would be nice. Since the trailer has to advertise to those who haven't had an interest in the game instead of the fans, it can't be helped, I suppose. :(

Who cares? It's not like your forced to play whatever the trailers portray, are you?

I wouldn't mind seeing Female WArrior as the trailer version though.

Ughhh...one thing that really annoys me are people being stupid and wearing dresses during wars. I thought Morrigan was foolish enough in DAO to be parading around in the woods with a scarf for a shirt. Hope they change that.

Am I the only one that noticed that the Seekers just declared war on the Grey Wardens in this trailer?

I really hope they give us some more info on that. For me, it just doesn't make sense. The Wardens exist for only 1 purpose: Darkspawn. And they pretty much ignore everything else. Why would the Seekers want to wage war with them? I hope they have some good explaination for this.

(muttering darkly)  I can guess.  The Grey Wardens have for over a thousand years accepted mages into their ranks, and not only allowed but in some cases encouraged forbidden magics (like bloodmagic) and Grey Warden Mages tend to take a much more relaxed view towards bloodmagic than the Chantry would have normally tolerated.  Worse Grey Warden Mages up to this point have been completely beyond Chantry (and thus Seeker/Templar) control

It wouldn't suprise me in the slightest, if Lambert decided to end the Grey Warden Mage independance once and for all.  He seems the type.

Well still, the wardens aren't made of all Mages. There are warriors too. And if you destroy them, when another Blight come (well not everybody knows about Morrigan's ritual I believe, and I don't think Old god son is common knowledge in Thedas) they will all be doomed. Lambert can be crazy, but I don;t think he's powerful enough to pull the Seekers into this war. Also, I kinda thought Cole kill Lambert at the end of Asunder. But I guess we will have to wait for the next book at least.

I just hope this is a case of not finished character face model like Isabela from one of the earlier DA2 trailers. In the early trailer Isabela had this super-big jaw, and a face that looked way to small for the head-shape. Then when the game came out her face looked fine.

So I'm hoping Cassandra gets a few tweaks between now and release.

Understand that I am speculating at this point, but I point out that in real history, wars often happened when neither side really wanted one.  World War One is a classic example of this, but (arguably) the War of 1812 would be another example of the same.  If the Seekers tried to push the Wardens too hard regarding their mages, and the Wardens decided to push back, and things got ugly, I could easily see a war break out that neither side necessarily wanted.  That would be doubly true if there were outside agents deliberately destabilizing the entire situation.

Except that this wasn't a CGI, this was the actual game footage.

And it looked terrible. At least we know why Morrigan wasn't in part 2, she was off having plastic surgery.

Translation: "I was too dumb to realize this was in game, and somehow managed to fail to read the big text at the beginning of the video that sais "ACTUAL GAME FOOTAGE". Better act like a hardass and make some lame excuse about how I hate current bioware!"

People like you make me want to puke. At least aknowledge that you were wrong about the CGI thing before jumping to more conclusions.

I thought it was consensus that Lambert wasn't around by the time of DA2?

In engine render does not equal to game footage when it doesn't even say if it's real time nor what hardware it was running on. Maybe you should take a moment and swallow what you're about to vomit before making yourself sound as silly as the other guy.

Watched the trailer a few times now and I like the job that they have done... for the most part.

I liked the opening scene and the carnage. Well done here I thought.
The weather effects (smoke, dust filtered light, rain) and lighting seem pretty good.
The qunari looks great.
The character animation is decent... but could use some more polish.
The map room looks good.
The Warden's castle looks... pretty generic though and not particularly realistic. Looks like a miniature playset somehow...
The fireballs and general destruction look "okay", but could use some more "weight" and polishing up I think.
The fade tear looks pretty good and various demons look pretty decent.
The dragon looks good, but it's placement on the rocks looks not-quite-right. It feels like a miniature, much like the castle.
Characters in general feel like they need a little more work and animation tweaks.
After seeing the new Witcher, Ryse, Battlefield, etc. DA:I just seems to lack some of the polish and "wow" the other reveals had.

That said, they've got a whole year+ to work out the kinks so I'm pretty hyped that they'll have great game at the end of the day.

Can someone explain this one from the OP?

"* That same scene also shows a copy of Hard in Hightown II on the far left of the table. Does this confirm Cullen LI?"

Hard in Hightown was about a dirty guard, ala Lethal Weapon, not the one about the guard captain romancing the templar captain. What would this have to do with Cullen then...?

I hope Varric is morning Hawke, who died from tripping on a rock and breaking his neck... then soiled himself.
