Understand that I am speculating at this point, but I point out that in real history, wars often happened when neither side really wanted one.  World War One is a classic example of this, but (arguably) the War of 1812 would be another example of the same.  If the Seekers tried to push the Wardens too hard regarding their mages, and the Wardens decided to push back, and things got ugly, I could easily see a war break out that neither side necessarily wanted.  That would be doubly true if there were outside agents deliberately destabilizing the entire situation.

Very true.
I think it's still too early right now to be certain. Though I sure hope that if this war is indeed going to happen, the Inquisitors (player) will be able to stop it.

To be fair, there are atl east 3 bodies that are covered up like the one Varric is mourning all next to one another. It could just be that he is "mourning" the loss of so many innocents in the war.

I wonder who the figure is behind Morrigan? Blurry OGB?

I'm curious as to the identity of the dragon. It could be Flemeth or an archedemon or even Morrigan herself. What I do hope to happen is we get to know more about Flemeth or her daughters. It seems like Morrigan is not her only daughter based on the comic.

It seems like at the end of the trailer, it's implying the hero is going to be some mysterious figure the Seekers come across and look after, then conscript him when they see his specialness, and then he is the savior of Thedas.

I mean, unconscious in a desert? Slowly standing up with little energy? Morrigan's comments on how "you" will either fight against it or lead the war to its bitter end playing at the same time?

Might be reading too much into it, but....

For some reason, I feel like the guy at the end of the trailer is Morrigan's baby.

Some questions I had after seeing the trailer a couple times:

1) In the shot of Varric touching the covered body, why is the body covered? It looks kind of like a body bag, but the other people in body bags around him don't seem to be laid out in an organized way, and the battlefield is empty aside from him. There aren't any people cleaning up the aftermath of the battle/carnage, which is what I would expect if people are being put in body bags. I'd love to know the full context for the shots. Well, when I play the game, anyway.

2) Which factions are on the map Cassandra stabs? I see Seekers in the upper right, possibly Dalish crossing the Waking Sea (the sails seem red, which echoes the caravels in DA2), some battering rams in the middle and on the side (the two are different colors -- different factions?), but I dont know the others. I'm assuming one of them is the Divine. Possibly the upper left is mages since the piece echoes the design for the Circle of Magi heraldry.

Then that 10 year old must've been eating some pretty heavy meals to have such large growth spurts.

Well. I'm not standing against darkness. I'm going to lead this world to its bitter end. That would be cool ...

Nice trailer.

"None shall be untouched by the fires above," is a really awkward sentence, however, unless these fires are inherently above, somehow.

What I mean is, if those meteorite things are raining down because some person or force made it happen, I'd have expected something like, "None shall be spared the fire *from* above." But, I'm probably overthinking it. I don't think the Fade is "above" because veil tears happen at ground level. But I quite like the idea of some fiery overhanging hell. (It was just an awkward sentence, wasn't it? :P)

Faces will take some getting used too, but mmm I am liking that bokeh blur on those flames there.

Also, is that a cape I spy?

Agreed - not crazy about those changes - but at least they look reasonably close to  previous iterations albeit perhaps older. Not hideous like  In DA2 where  Alistair and Fenris looked so bad that I could barely watch their scenes.

Petty arent I :o

Nice theory, Ethereal.

Though it just as easily be the hero rising amidst the ruins of the world.

Yeah it looks like another dudepro (thats the word for dude protagonist that I just made up). Disappointing.

Who cares? It's not like your forced to play whatever the trailers portray, are you?

I wouldn't mind seeing Female WArrior as the trailer version though.

Indeed, I will wait until the inevitable social issues-charged thread to unleash my care.

Well, considering the baby lived in a glass-mirror-thing, and is an old god, I wouldn't be surprised if Bioware just lets him age faster.

Considering the baby is not entirely canon. I doubt they would dedicate part of the trailer just to showcase him.

Does "fire from above" means....asteroids? Because i can see asteroids...or alien attack?

Confused with Qunari cannon attack, i guess, at the siege

Probably because it's Hawke, and Bio won't import the DA2 face.

Where are you lot getting male protagonist from? I thought I saw female protagonist a couple of times, in inquisitor armour. Unless that was short-haired Cassandra.

(Oh, OK. People posted her above and think it's Cassandra. Maybe that's correct.)

That's probably a bad idea if they don't scrap romances, I think... Implications...

I think that was Cassandra. The guy in the sandstorm is the implied protag.
