DA: Inquisition trailer "Fires above" discussion thread

Also, this: In other thread we're discussing Sandal's prophecy from DA2 (when he rises everyone will see or something like that); is it possible or likely that the person? Sandal is referring to is actually the OGB? (old god baby)? or could it be an Archdemon? or?
I actually had to watch the trailer about 4-5 times in order to catch all the info in it. I agree that the Quanari looks great, Morrigan looks like the way I've always envisioned her, Cassandra looks mature and ready to get the job done. Varric's looks displays a much wiser, more mature person (or dwarf) and not the wisecracking person from DA2. As for the plot, it seems to me that Bioware has gone back to a save the world theme again.....find the agents behind the chaos....(and save the land?)

For some reason, I feel like the guy at the end of the trailer is Morrigan's baby.
I think it's supposed to be the protagonist, although that leaves us with the question of "who" the protagonist is, and why he (or she) becomes involved in the narrative.
The trailer also makes me question how they'll address the Hero of Ferelden who romanced Morrigan and left Ferelden to join her through the Eluvian, as well as her son (for players who trusted Morrigan and performed the Dark Ritual, as her son seems to have a "destiny" if he possesses the soul of Urthemiel).

Exactly what I did. Although if you conside the timeline the Hero of Ferelden has already died from darkpawn taint. Well, entered the final stages and probably took his life or Morrigan helped. Maybe she'll mention that in a sad voice.LobselVith8 wrote...

She could very well just appear in a brief cameo a la Flemeth herself in DA2. Show up, be enigmatic, raise more questions than are answered, and vanish never to be seen again.
Personally, I'm not sure which I'd prefer more.

Couldn't the fires from above come from - ehm - the Black/Golden City in the Heavens?
Not from above, just above, according to the sentence which pushed my pedantic button. But, I like this theory. (But, I'm a bit confused as to where reality actually lies. In the world, beyond the veil, in a world with magic etc.)

It's only been about ten years since the Fifth Blight ended, and every Warden is different. Warden Loghain is still alive several years later, according to King Alistair, and he's older than the protagonist.
As far as my Warden is concerned, I don't imagine my blood mage Hero of Ferelden dying for a long time, especially not since he spared Avernus. Why pass up the chance to unlock the secrets of the taint?

Sandal: One day the magic will come back. All of it. Everyone will be just like they were. The shadows will part, and the skies will open wide.

Things I learned the first time watching:
1. Morrigan sporting a new look (looks Orlesian from the dress)
2. Varric, Cassandra look good, I guess.
3. That m*thaf*cking Sandal.
4. What if the meteors are coming from that black city? Maybe we get all of the questions about the Fade, the old Gods, Tevinter, and the history of Thedas all explained. At least that's what I'm hoping.

For me it's hard to exclude The Warden no matter what. Look - he's THE hero of this world, united the nations, stopped The Blight. Then another great war starts and it includes all this PLUS - as some noticed - involves The Grey Wardens. Does it really make sense to exclude the main character of the drama just to say: "hey, we've got new protagonist!"? For me it doesn't. Cant believe a hero of his scale wouldnt get involved in a way.IanPolaris wrote...
Especially if the Warden romanced Morrigan and went through the Elluvian with her. Kind of hard in that case to exclude the Warden, but not all Wardens did this (in fact I expect only a minority did).lecho_himself wrote...The trailer looked good but considering what I've seen, this whole epic war concept, I don't really see how can BioWare do this NOT involving PCs from previous parts. Particulary The Warden.

He's the top dog of Dragon Age universe. The same league as Flemeth, Morrigan, Arishok, a league above Cassanda and Varric. Not including him "because" or giving him a fringe role seems so forced.
Also doing the "gather the allies and win a war" again, in the same universe, but only with another hero, would be pretty dull.
Actually The Warden is not the hero of the world just the hero of "ONE" country, Ferelden.

Honestly, I'm expecting a lot of Leliana/Anders style retcons for most of the major events, which I'm not exactly against as long as they're done well. As opposed to just deciding the way they wanted it to happen and handwaving or ignoring the other options.

Btw, when Thedas's humans and elves kill each other off in this war I'm guessing the dwarves will inherit the world. Lol.

I hope that playing as a mage has a deeper meaning here. I mean, with the Fade spilling over and demons all around you, wouldn't mages start becoming possessed at every corner? In other parts besides Kirkwall (cause that practically happened all the time in DA2...)
Demons can possess anyone or anything - regular people, animals trees... it wouldn't be limited to abominations, and mages don't automatically become possessed. After the plethora of insane and stupid mages in Dragon Age II, I'm hoping for some three-dimensional mages, and a storyline that allows us to delve into the different mage groups that have emancipated themselves.

I wonder if there will be any elven companions this time around.

And Varric looks damn good. It seems like we're going back to "BIG DAMN PROBLEMS FOR EVERYONE!", which usually annoys me slightly. I quite liked the first 2 acts of DA2 for that reason. But.... Honestly, given how early it is, I have no idea.
Mmm, Varric.
