Considering the original release date was late 2013, and Bioware had previously emphasized the scalability of the Frostbite 3 engine, and that the VAST majority of recently announced games have been advertised as cross-generation, I can't honestly believe anyone is surprised or dismayed that DA3 will be a cross-generation title.
The people who are complaining must be seriously self-entitled whiners. "I can't enjoy a game unless it's exclusive to people like me, who have the money to immediatly blow on the first iteration of a new-generation console."
Nevermind the fact that both consoles cost upwards of $500, and only come with one controller. Or the fact that here, in Australia, the current place-holder price for next-gen games on either console is $118, nearly a fifth of the price of the new consoles.
So for a PS4, an extra controller (in case you were planning on playing games friends or family) and let's say two games, just to start off, you're looking at an immediate initial investment of nearly $900 in Australia. That's
not a trivial sum for males 15-30, which is (let's be honest) the audience that the gaming industry is largely aimed at.
I can't say for others, but I will definitely be waiting some time before purchasing a next-gen console. Not because I can't afford it (I can), but because it's a
bad deal. I'll wait until retailers are offering a decent bundle package, or failing that, the inevitable release of a smaller, cheaper model with more memory.
