The Templar is no more, because the Chantry is no more. Who want to provide them Lyrium?

Furthermore, Templar base is actually the Circles, i never see or never know any Templar station/head quarters in the game or anywhere other than the Circle. Because the Circle is no more because the Mages have rebelled, we can assume all Templars are dead, if there are survivors, they are just lyrium addicts and cannot rebuild the order, have no money and no lyrium

The lyrium issue does need to be addressed, but I imagine the templars could have gotten access to some lyrium in the meanwhile. Perhaps the mages and the templars might try to convince the King of Orzammar to deal with them, or the dwarves could wait and see who is triumphiant in the war before dealing with either one, since they only sell a small fraction of what they mine to the surface world (which used to be exclusively to the Andrastian Chantry).

As for the templars, I imagine Cullen is a possible companion, and perhaps he's still a templar. I'm not sure if he would be allied with Cassandra's sect of rogue Seekers and templars allied to the Divine, or he would follow Lambert's main group of Seekers and templars.

Qistina, the DAI official site shows the PC with five rings, who almost surely indicate the factions in Inquisition. A templar ring is present, so templars will likely be one of the major factions in the game.

My reaction as well. Not a single Templar symbol, not even on the war room map.

Also, Cassandra little group is wearing the Inquisition symbol (well the old Inquisition symbol). They might not be Chantry affiliated at all.

Team Templar in general, to be honest.

Kind of. I was mostly "TEAM STOP BEING CRAZY!" in DAO (my dwarf learned fast the sun makes people nuts), and Hawke was Team: Can't we all just take a deep breath, put down the knife, and get along? Worked out for the dwarf.... Except she died. Didn't work for Hawke! ...Except she got to be Viscount, so that was pretty sweet.

But usually, I think the Templars are fairly sympathetic. Mostly because mages seem to be happy to go RARGHLEBLARGHDEMONS at the drop of a hat.

Until your Hawke was rightfully deposed, of course.

Also, the funny thing about templars is that they've never actually needed demons to push them into being monsters.

But that's true for all non-mages (humans, elves, dwarves). Not exclusive to Templars.

Edit: I'll probably regret answering this, but in some cases I just love to be devil's advocate... :innocent:

I just hope they will make more reasonable templars and better motivation for the chief villain than indoctrination from some artifact.

It's not good when Cullen, the worst templar in DA:O, became the best damn one in DA2.

Oh man - I'd die if the Templars just walk away from Species Magical Thedas.

We're so bad? Fix your own damn problems you psychotic, magic obsessed freaks.

Hope your new mage friends aren't too busy turning into abominations to fight the hoards and hoards of demons spilling from that crack in the sky.  You know - the one they probably created - because non-magical folk can't open cracks in the sky usually.

Why don't you use BLOOD MAGIC - ask Avernus how well blood magic works on demons.

We'll be at the pub.

@xilizhra: if you think justice corrupted Anders and not the other way around... you've been paying too much attention to your own fan-fiction.

No demons were involved in the making of Uldred, Zathrian, Jowan, Avernus, the Tevinter slavers in both games, Orsino - or Dr. Frankenmom.

lol!! So true. Like I said before, the Templars can just go on vacation considering the fact that mages kill each other and inflict far more abuses on each other. At least Templars try to minimize the damage by keeping mages in check and keep the general population safe. Something most mages don't even consider. If there was a safe place to be, the Templars should go there and foritfy it and let everyone solve their own problems. But then again with a huge fade portal open, it's not something they can ignore.

Seemingly you guys missed the hand with all the rings on it and a templar symbol in plain and clear sight along with the seekers, circle of mages and others.

So that means we'll hopefully be able to join any faction we see fit. This could be the different perspective some posters were wishing for.

And yeah Keran was meh. although we could certainly use more half naked Templars.

I certainly won't complain about this.

As far as picking a side. I am firmly on the fence at this point, and plan to stay on the fence going in on the first playthrough.

No, not really. Keran is the most attractive templar, but that bar is set so low that I could jump over it, and generally speaking, videogame characters don't really raise my flag to full-mast.

But I dare say I don't like most of the guys you find attractive, either. I don't actually like the fact that all the men in DA2 are so bulky. I prefer a slimmer build.

There is no playthrough I love more than my DA2 MageHawke who sided with the templars. Anders' radical boom'splosion changed my whole opinion on what I thought I would do.

That being said, I'm going to tentatively approach DAI with the same viewpoint & start off as a mage who is more moderate and stands with the templars. Excited to see how it will play out.

EDIT - oh fck yes, Haytham Kenway is the sexiest templar.  Unf.

Dear everyone,

putting either "Mage" or "Templar" in the title of your thread is the fastest way to start an argument about Mages vs. Templars. That is all.

Love,

The Templars provide a necessary service. No society can exist without security.
Let the mages chant for their "freedom". Our cries are no less true nor are our dead.

It creeps me the **** out when people start talking like they actually ARE characters in the game.
