Since I don't work for BioWare, I don't have the answers you're looking for.ParatrooperSean wrote...
Just out of curiosity, was pushing the timeline to the right a fine-tuning "being a profectionist" thing, or was it just the whole project taking a lot longer than expected?
Personally I'm willing to wait even longer if by fall of 2014 you still have bugs and stuff to iron out.
Bioware, what went wrong?

I have an idea that would keep me coming to these forums... how about giving us the DLC that was canceled? That would be something to tide us over for the next year and a half, and would give closure for DA:2.
You want BioWare to re-schedule DAI two more times--once for stopping DAI to work on DLC, and again for when the DLC is done and they ramp up on DAI--just so you will keep coming to the forums in the meantime? You don't ask for much, do you?
If it means you'd have to re-schedule DAI, then forget what I said. I was thinking that
the DLC was almost finished. I wouldn't want to see you stopping work for DAI. I'll just shut up and be patient.

My understanding is they've incorporated the exalted march dlc into into DAI. So there's nothing to release to tide the fans.
Anyone needing a DA "fix" suffering from withdrawl could buy Gaiders books and comics, the world of thedas book from a few months back , or that Dragon Age movie/anime featuring Cassandra to tide them over.

This is true. I just wasn't sure how much you could share Vs how much needed to remain under the table. My friends who do programming always joke about how fixing one problem can inevitably lead to two more.
Only two more? Your friends must be incredibly good programmers!
One the wider note of the 2014 "delay" announcement, absolutely delighted to hear it. Here's to hoping it makes a major positive difference. <3

Obviously you are well aware of the mixed reactions you will receive over the next while, good and bad , but as a person who has remained hopeful for this newest installment and been following what little word we've gotten, I do remember distinctly noting Bioware being hopeful for a Fall of 2013 release. So... what changed?
A lot of my time is spent attending skillswapsalongside other developers big and small, etc. Talking with these passionate people, I understand just how hard it can be to create a game. My small University group makes all sorts of games, some that never even see the light of day. So many fantastic ideas dropped because of time constraints and so on. Withsomething like Dragon Age, I’m sure it must be tough to both make a great, creatively
compelling game while still remaining faithful to your fan's expectations too. Not to mention, if you tried to make it absolutely perfect, it would probably never be released, haha.
A year is quite a while away, though, I guess it also means plenty of more hype as well. Still, as a fan I
can’t say I’m not somewhat disappointed. But I think if we understood the reasoning behind it, it might make things a little more acceptable, especially if knowing it’s only to be sure the game is at its best.
I'm GLAD they did this. Because see what happened when Bioware was rushing their games? They were good, but not GREAT. I'm actualy happy they take the extra year to add the details and make the game better overall.
If we get more polished product thanks to this, I'll wait 2 extra years.

Take your time guys, we are rooting for you. The great majority understands what you can create if given sufficient time.
