I didn't read the comment myself but someone said the footage wasn't taken from the actual game.

The footage is in-engine, so it's not a pre-rendered trailer or anything.

I'm guessing the beauty mark is also a part of Orlesian style. It's fashion.

I thought she looked great. Her pupils were greatly dilated. That could be cuz she's meandering thru a dark room?

Or, women w/dilated pupils are supposed to be the most attractive to men.

All the characters look different. I was expecting that w/the new engine and style.

I think Morrigan looks great.

Inquisition takes place ~15 years after DA:O. If she was mid-20's during Origins, she'd be coming up on 40.

DA:O began in 9:30, DA II ended roughly in 9:40 during Varrics interrogation. Asunder began in 9:38 with the epilogue in 9:40. Where do you get the extra 5 years for DA:Inquisition? I suspect DA:I begins more in the early 9:40 range. So she might be mid 30s. Please, give the lady a break. =]

...the art style in her shot doesn't look anime to me. Looks like any other high definition 'realistic' game that's come out lately. Someone mentioned Witcher- kinda like that, or Assassin's Creed, etc. etc. etc.

Some of the other scenes look vaguely cel-shaded, but it's hard to tell. If true I guess that would imply hers is too, but I'm not seeing it. And I wouldn't necessarily say that makes it anime either. (Prince of Persia)

I think the opening to the trailer did say "actual game footage".

Morrigan looks great dark temptress aura radiates from her even more! but the thing that bothers me is the dress.

I just think it doesn't suit her, but I guess she had to realize that the fashion police was gonna hunt her for even trying to set a foot in Orlais with her old robes.

I think its that uncanny valley we have been stuck at for like a decade now, and I saw nothing that hinted at cel-shading. That's just me.

Even then "anime" is a large and very vague term to use for anything.

Oh no, Cell-shaded would be in the Borderlands or Robotech: Battlecry art style. That type of art style is very distinctive.

Morrigan's look is pretty much her old look, which I disliked and modded.

Could someone post some example screenshots? I don't have any idea what cell-shaded would mean for the art style.

She looks good. They can add little things to her face here and there because the new engine calls for more detail.

Haha, that sounds so Orlesian. Really, I don't think the dress fits her but it's dressing for the occasion (or rather the location), which is what I've always wanted characters to do more so I'll not complain about it.

What bothers me more is the sinister smile she has in the video. I don't want her to become one of DAI's antagonists.

Well, it felt like with DA2 they tried to go, I dunno, 10% in the direction of what I think of as cel-shaded, and mesh that with otherwise realistic-ish art. So not the very distinctive cel-shaded of Wind Waker, Borderlands, etc, but just a sort of 'artistic' lack of detail in certain areas.

It looked like I saw that a little bit in some of the shadows in the trailer during the battle scenes. Dunno.

I see what you mean about the vaugely cel-shaded stuff...

Like it almost looks like an oil painting?  Especially when still. I wonder if this is something they're doing on purpose...

Borderlands 2:

A more dramatic example would be Wind Waker:

It basically means an art style more like a comic book or old-school 2D animation.

Cel shading is a style of computer rendering meant to imitate hand-drawn animation, first and foremost by manipulating the lighting to create flat colors and shadows (as opposed to the gradient of conventional rendering).

I can't say I got that impression from the trailer, but I was looking at a pretty grainy feed.

Morrigan doesn't look older, what are you on about?

They've changed her nose, lips, and eyes, though. She's less pretty and less interesting in my opinion, I barely recognize her.

Thanks, guys. I don't think I'd be too happy with a Borderlands 2 look, myself. Hopefully I don't have to worry about Wind Waker's look.

I like her look in the trailer, and the trailer is supposedly in-engine? So if she looks like that in the game then fine she looks "alright" to me, better than her default appearance in DAO in my opinion. But I never actually liked Morrigan as the character herself, nor her personality. If there's a way to avoid her in the game, not having her in the party all the time, and etc, then I will most likely not take her my party or will try to avoid speaking to her unless absolutely necessary due to story progression. But with this said, even though I don't like her as a character I must say that Claudia Black does an amazing job at portraying her with very talented voice acting, she really was amazing for her (for Morrigan) in DAO.

But yeah, back on-topic, I think Morrigan looks ok in this trailer, she "looks Morrigan enough".

The most obvious thing is her cheeks, in my opinion. Her face and eyes looks much pudgier ... which is odd because her lips have gotten thinner.

I wasn't aware that was in-game footage the trailer was showing, if so that's a pretty bad sign. But they can always change it.

I wouldn't worry too much about specific shots or scenes looking more stylized.  The Fade in both DA:O and DA2 had a blurred, painting-esque look to it, as did flashback sequences in the CG DA2 trailer.  It might just be that one shot; Varric's sequence in the trailer looked a lot more realistic.

Indeed I did. He is the Prophet of DAI now after all.

If it IS in game I pity my poor, poor computer. Super low screen resolution and pixels here I come!
