On side note your comment "Possibly people just like dissecting the appearance of female characters. I'm not sure. Maybe it's just something you get used to, or will never like simply because it's different."... No, just no since it comes across to me that your implying misogyny.
Implying nothing. I'll state it outright: there is absolutely a mysoginistic element to the commentary on female characters. It's not specific to Morrigan, but has always been present when it comes to reveals on any female character in the game (and contrasts to the commentary on male characters)-- and I've been witness to enough of it over the years to make that observation. Yes, that is an opinion, but it is mine.
Does that mean one cannot comment on Morrigan without being a mysognist? Of course not. If you'd prefer to pretend the opposite, however, then I call BS.
I'd just like to point out theat there is also a history of exploitative portrayals of women (and men) as well. Not exclusive to Dragon Age of course. But it is there. I think you understand what i mean: top-heavy, wasp-waisted women in stilleto heels, etc. So if people have concerns about a character's appearance, please keep in mind it's not always "Why ain't she hot?"
As you wish. Your opinions are all precious diamonds to us, absolutely, even the subjective ones. We will collect them in breathless anticipation, and view only the negative opinions as correct. Ideally, these will help us get the characters to the point where nobody could find any fault in their appearances whatsoever.
It won't be me doing that, of course, as I'm not part of the Art department, but don't let that stop you. Comment away.
Sarcasm aside: Here's my feedback, for whatever it's worth.
I don't mind the new look for Morrigan save one thing: the hair. I can see ithaving a similar problem to Ashley WIlliams' hair in ME3. it drapes across teh face and obscures her left eye. Which to me looks really silly. particularly if there are shots coming from her left.
If the goal is to create lifelike, expressive avatars for characters, a wall o'hair obscuring her features is counterproductive.
Again, for what it's worth.

I'm curious about the bottom of Morrigan's outfit. I really like the top; wondering about the bottom. It almost looks like it flares (a la ballerina) for a bit in the trailer, but it's not much to go off of. Not sure I'd care for the flaring bit. But I really do like the top and the color scheme. Really suits Morrigan in my opinion.
It does seem to flare out. I wouldn't normally imagine that for her. However, there's a similar look on an Orelesian woman in the Worlds of Thedas book. So, shapeshifter that she is, maybe she's just blending in.

I'm sure misogyny is why everyone thought Carver looked derpy.
No, I'm pretty sure that was just people judging from one screenshot.
I don't think Gaider is referring to all criticism of character's appearances over time. I think he's referencing the pattern of criticism leveled at female characters in particular. I've only been on here since midway to Origins' release, but I can see it to. The male characters are criticized, but it always seems like the ladies are under the Eye of Sauron far more.

Men are allowed to be 'ugly'. Women are not. They must be perfect. If they aren't, they are lambasted.
Pretty much what it boils down to.
It isn't right. IMO.

This is exactly it.
Just because it happens to a male character once, or a couple of times, doesn't magically erase the systematic scrutiny of practically every female character.

I created this thread in the first place for 2 reasons: She is my favorite character throughout the gaming industry & I was unsure if she looked quite right, so wanted to get a few opinions. Most have been positive about her new look and allaying any concerns. (I still hate the dress but no big deal. I'm picky when it comes to fashion anyway.) The fact she is female had bugger all to do with me creating this thread. Its very likely I would have made such a thread if the same circumstances were true for Varric.
Also is the sarcastic attitude really necessary David?

ASK for a Qunari romance? you are a weirdo with a weirdo fetish
Don't like/question Morrigan's look? you are a mysoginist
Varric's chest hair? Is that ok to ask?
Really it's like some mods are reading the opinions through a magnifying glass made of negativity

Nothing I said was unreasonable, the reasons for what I mentioned were explained and none of it was said in a vindictive manner. Your sarcasm and apparent contempt towards previous and potential future customers who might not agree with you on or about something you said, the way you approached a topic or reacted to one serves no purpose other than to create hostility, further make these forums a more toxic place to be.

Some fleeting images of Morrigan and Varric might be enough to trigger excited speculation in some people, but I need details to tide me over if I'm going to maintain interest, and it doesn't look like we'll be getting any....
