The only complaints I've personally harboured towards BioWare the last few years were the recycled dungeons in DA2 and the ending of ME3. Nothing else pissed me off (much).

Cassandra was fine. Varric looks too tall. Morrigan ..... well is ugly. Someone on gamefaqs said she looked like RuPaul in drag. funny. I hope they change her looks before the final product.

For the record, just go back and look at the forum commentary on various characters-- female ones in particular-- from previous games. Tell me how much you think those comments still applied once the game came out, and how much of it was just knee-jerk and/or outright ridiculous. All of it? Doubtful. Much of it? If not that, then wildly subjective in a way that doesn't lend itself to being useful to us in any manner.

Is it complicated by the fact these are returning characters? Sure. Doesn't change what I said, insofar as "commentary on appearances are highly suspect" goes. Does that mean all opinions are therefore invalid, and anyone who says something negative about a female character is a raging mysoginist? Only on the internet.

Feel free to make your opinion heard, if you like. Sounds great. I'll leave you all to it.

Mr. Gaider, while I can of course not claim to speak for everyone, I'd just like to say that some of us discuss, comment and "complain" only because we care. We want the game, EVERY aspect of the game, to be as good as possible. This includes the way characters we care about look. What is considered "as good as possible" will of course differ from person to person, which is why it is ultimately up to you at Bioware to decide what YOU feel is best. That shouldn't stop us from voicing our concerns, ideas and hopes though.

Again, while I can't speak for anyone else, I'm pretty sure I would have had the same reaction to a male character as to a female character. I know I reacted alot when seeing Alistair for the first time in game in DA2... But I agree with you that it seems to be far more common for most people to nitpick about female characters. Not all nitpicking is inherently bad however, especially if the end result in a larger numer of happy players.

Ultimately I'm sure I'll love how the characters look, both male and female, but when I see something that feels slightly off I don't see anything negative in pointing it out, especially now that the game has over a year to evolve and get tweaked. I hope you don't take these kind of threads as insults toward yourself, the characters or the writing, the way I see it, as long as everyone can voice their opinion in a civil manner, critisism isn't a bad thing.

I personally like Varric and Morrigan's new look, I'm interested to see what the Frostbite engine can do with this

Wait, you hate misogynists and it's great, but we are talking about changed appiarence of characters because of the change of enjne, right?

Now, please, tell me honestly, you _really_ do not see those oversized jaws? (Oversized compare to DAO\\DA2 versions!) There are pictures to compare. Just say something like "to my eyes they look exactly the same" or "in game the lights are different, angles are different and _in game_ characters are very much the same as in previous games" - and we will know, developers see it this way.

I'd like to see a little bit more tweaking done on Varric. I think his forehead needs to be a little higher, and his hair lightened up some. I'm used to him being blonde from DA2. And I want his chest hair back, of course. His mouth seems a little odd, like it's a bit too wide. But, I'm sure there's lots of time between now and Fall 2014 for character facial tweaking.

I think Cassandra looks fine. I never really cared about her, so her looks are really just, "Eh, whatever" to me.

Morrigan looks good. It's just the mouth, again. But I do love that Orlesian dress she's wearing.
