Ok, took a few seconds longer than I probably should have to twig that it was Varric. And I only really got it because he had Bianca. I mourn not the covering of chest hair. Too much fire about - might damage it. Also, are those burn scars on the right side of his face? Maybe it's already too late?

Morrigan... I dunno. I picked it was her from the voice of Claudia Black, but the back of my head says she looks unsettling. Uncanny valley maybe, plus a bit of "her facial shape seems different from the one she had in DAO". I don't hate it, I'll probably get used to it, and as I highly doubt she's a companion or even an NPC we'll see much of, it's not a big deal really. Frankly, I'll just be happy to find out what happened with the OGB and possibly hints as to the fate of the warden.

I had to think to remember who Cassandra was. She wasn't a companion, or even someone we even got to directly interact with, so... I don't care?

I really like the way Varric looks. I had to see Bianca before I realized it was him. I wonder how he got that scar? Morrigan it took a couple of days to adjust to the way she looks now. Overall I like her new look. Does she have a mole? Cassandra looks good I just think her jaw needs to be a bit smaller and she would look perfect. A year from now their looks could change again.

If one were to go by forum posters commenting on a character's initial reveal, Morrigan in DAO was beyond hideous. I recall a number of long topics over how giant her jaw was, how misshapen her lips were, how her shoulders were too wide and her body badly animated. Also, Merrill had enormous breasts, Isabela an impossibly masculine jaw and Leliana giant fish-lips which were impossible to look past.

Possibly people just like dissecting the appearance of female characters. I'm not sure. Maybe it's just something you get used to, or will never like simply because it's different. I suppose you'll find out eventually.

Just at a cursory glace it looks to me like Morrigan's new appearance has been well received by most, myself included.

As I stated in another post I thought she was too pretty in DAO. She was raised in the Wilds by her mother and taught to be a survivor, yet she had sharp, model-like bone structure, a perfect complexion and barbie doll make-up.

The woman I saw in the DAI trailer had a natural appearing beauty that didn't betray her witchy mystique. Much improved!

I think it's interesting how much more the character looks like the actress playing her, and I'm curious as to whether that has to do with any updates to facial animation, such as mocap of the voice actors. Which many studios are doing now to great result.

Aside from that though I like the new look I think it feels more like the character was intended to feel. She comes across as more self possesed and there is a sensuality to the expressions that wasn't there before, I'm thinking newer animations and thinner lips are responsible. As well as the slightly more angular look over all especially to the jaw line.

From a purely aesthetic perspective her face has more "character" to it, such as the slight hook to her nose and the beauty mark as well as the again somewhat thinner lips. Over all Morrigan appears much more real than her previous incarnation.

Varic looks like Varic in another engine, more detailed but familiar, though that is mostly I think because he was already a character with a face that had many interesting details making him already feel real.

The heads seem really big for the necks and as if they have lost weight, Morrigan and Cassandra. Morrigan's face is wider on the jawline and lips are off looking when she was talking. That's what I saw. It seems like it might be good but with the attacks on posters here...I'am not as up about it now. They as I just stated what we thought. If you don't like feedback don't have these forums. I think a lot of people lost something tonight as I have too.

Morrigan looks essentially the same; aside from the dress, her face simply seems updated for the new engine. Varric looks better to me, with the scarf adding a look of seriousness. And Cassandra seemed a little too different; I liked her DAII model more.

Her cheeks are puffier, kind of like how DA ][ Hawkes were.

It definitely is not the same.

A poll is up, trying to gauge overall response.

The more I look at Morrigan the more I like the changes.

Varric looks like he was just plugged into a new engine

I think Cassandra looks miles better. Looks a whole lot less like a generic face with a guys haircut and more short haired lady.

I thought they all looked great, not saying that minor tweaks here and there couldn't improve them though. Also I may be in the minority here but I REALLY liked Cass's new design, sure she may not be as "hot" as she was before, but in my opinion the scars, eyebrows, and even the wide jaw give her a really unique look.

Okay, one- Let me say that being that we're so early from launch(over a bloody year thank goodness), characters are bound to change from now till then. Ex- Isabella in the trailers to how she looked in game(DA2).

Alright, here goes-

Varric- Once I saw Bianca I knew "Varric, here we go" but he looked so...not Varricy. He looked like some random other dwarf who was holding Bianca. I honestly thought some other dwarf had Bianca, I had to ask myself, "Is that Varric? That can't be Varric, no...nah." Turns out it is. Hopefully he looks more faithful to his DA2 appearance(which I had no problem with, even if I hated DA2's art style) down the line.

Cassandra- Didn't focus too much on her in the trailer, she went by fast if I remember correctly. Looking at the screens, she also doesn't look too much like her DA2 self to me. I think some tinkering should be made but otherwise, I think she'll look fine.

Morrigan- Here's the big one. Morri. The love of my Warden. Haven't seen her in new material in years. How do I like the changes? Well, the outfit is ace. Love that, don't think that needs to be changed. Shows that she's grown over the years(plus, at least in my case, she's a mom!). Her face has I believe beauty marks? I'd like some clarification on that, but I'm not really fans of them. I'd like those to disappear, or if there's going to be one, have it be more subtle. There's something going on with her jawline, dunno what it is that seems off, but it doesn't come as her. Otherwise, with oncoming changes I'm sure she'll be okay aesthetically.

At least I hope so. In-game Isabella was miles above trailer Isabella.

So, I think all three characters need some changes. But with SO much time till launch(yes yes yes yes yes thank you for no rush job this time, take MORE time if you need it please), I'm confident that if Bioware feels the need to change things up, they'll get it done.

Thanks for the reveal, Bioware. Props to you lot. Bounce back.

I would like to point out that you just saw in-game Morrigan, Varric, etc. That wasn't CGI (which you probably knew).

Not to say they won't tweak it, as you said, but unless they do that's precisely what she (and all three) will look like, there's no "trailer Morrigan"--at least so far.

I LOVE Morrigan, Varric looks OK (his lips could use some work) whicle Cassandra could use a more delicate face but Morrigan is awesome, very sexy.

Agreed.  My other thought was that some time has passed and everyone has gotten a little older, a little more worn.  And, yes, Varric has lost some weight and decided to start dying his hair.  I'm cool with it.

Then lets perceive it as an early version of Morrigan(and the other two).

Regardless, I hope they look at them and the rest of the cast and revise their looks until they feel they're at peak aesthetic quality.

Cassandra was the only character's new look I felt disappointed in. I liked Varric's new look immensely, and he was instantly recognisable to me still, even without needing to see Bianca. Contrary to many others I also like Morrigan's new look -- she's just older, so that's understandable. But Cassandra... icky... I didn't like her at all. She looks too masculine or something, I don't know.

If this is what they did with these characters, imagine what they did with the rest of the characters. I'm so excited. But I seriously hope BioWare fix Alistair's face in DAI, assuming of course he comes back, because God was that terrible.

You think Alistair was bad? Yeah.

Now think Zevran.

My one issue was that Morrigan seems to have gotten implants between games. I guess it's not as bad as all the cosmetic work Ashley had between Mass Effect 2 and 3 though.

Honestly, I love them all. Especially Cassandra, she has a uniqueness she didn't have before. Varric, I knew it was him as soon as I saw Bianca, and I think he looks great.
Morrigan is still recognisable to me, a little uncanny with the smile (or maybe that's just because Morrigan never really smiled, ha) but outfit is cool and she looks appropriately older.

Can't wait to see if we have more returning characters and what they look like! Especially the potential new Cullen, if nothing else, to watch the frantic posting in the Cullen thread after it :P

I like it, because it makes sense. Morrigan have like 8 or 10 years more since Dragon Age Origins. Also i think she's looks like her voice actor. Cassandra is a mix between the anime movie and her character's face of DA2.

Honestly, i'm more worried about Qunari and elves redesign. Each Dragon Age's sequels looks like a entire different game. xD

Funny no one mentioned that before.
All characters that were shown in the trailer are recognizable and they look good.
Zevran is an abomination when you compare him from Origins to 2.
