Just though of this but what if that is not morrigan but a another forum that flemeth  took on the voice had a morrigan, flemeth mixture. And if you look at D.A.O the facial features kind of match.

I think Morrigan still looks good. Even if she got a few years on her.

And there is no saying that's the final look of morrigan compare the cinematic trailer, concept art and what she looks like in the game of D.A.O

On side note your comment "Possibly people just like dissecting the appearance of female characters. I'm not sure. Maybe it's just something you get used to, or will never like simply because it's different."... No, just no since it comes across to me that your implying misogyny.

Implying nothing. I'll state it outright: there is absolutely a mysoginistic element to the commentary on female characters. It's not specific to Morrigan, but has always been present when it comes to reveals on any female character in the game (and contrasts to the commentary on male characters)-- and I've been witness to enough of it over the years to make that observation. Yes, that is an opinion, but it is mine.

Does that mean one cannot comment on Morrigan without being a mysognist? Of course not. If you'd prefer to pretend the opposite, however, then I call BS.

I don't always agree with you or how you express yourself, Mr Gaider, but...

*insert sincere applause here* :)

I personally like the new looks.

Morrigan has aged as expected I mean it's been at least 10 years since DA:O people do change a bit or a lot depending on the person.

Varric has seen some combat by the looks of it, so he got a scar seems fitting since there is war going on.

Cassandra well hasn't changed much other then getting a scar and a new hair color apparantly (Not that's new.)

Still this is only a teaser trailer so to speak and it's possible that they will change their looks a bit along the way after all Cassandra changed from a white haired woman to a dark haired women between trailers. :wizard:

I think all three of them look amazing! Looks like it was a much more successful transition of character models into DAI than it was from DAO to DA2.
I like Morrigan's look more than ever. She is beautiful.
Varric looks great! We may miss his manly chest, but perhaps it is more chilly in Orlais? :)
Cassandra looks like a badass, yet still lovely. A perfect mix IMO.
I hope they keep all three just as they are :)

I never cared for her appearance in this trailer.

Remember that Morrigan is 15 years (?) older in DA:I than she was in DAO.

remember, it's been 5 years since DA:O  most of the people who worked on it got the can

Treating it as peoples preferences is fine but I think you could of put your points across much nicer and keep in mind you had a hand in fostering that type of discussion to begin with by way of large focus on romance in your games.

As you wish. Your opinions are all precious diamonds to us, absolutely, even the subjective ones. We will collect them in breathless anticipation, and view only the negative opinions as correct. Ideally, these will help us get the characters to the point where nobody could find any fault in their appearances whatsoever.

It won't be me doing that, of course, as I'm not part of the Art department, but don't let that stop you. Comment away. :)

David, Allen, I'm sorry for the ridiculous scrutiny that you have to deal with as developers in this day and age for inane details like how many moles are on a character's face or what color their eye shadow is. It's barf-worthy not just because of the sexism when it pops up, but also just because of the fact that people consider this kind of thing worthy of such close scrutiny. Some things people should be scrutinizing and critiquing include level design, art style, gameplay, writing, etc. I think MOST people want to scrutinize/critique the right things, but some don't have the patience to wait until the reveal of these and it's a shame. You are absolutely right to scoff at the posts that you did, and while I'm not the biggest fan of DA2 you yourselves freely admitted the glaring mistakes such as environment repetition, so I don't think anyone can rightfully accuse you of not owning up to actual missteps. While I'm excited to see what you'll do with DA3, I'm one of those people who will be waiting for actual gameplay news. I look forward to returning to the forums more at that point. Until then, good luck with development!

I love the new Morrigan and Varric looks, Cassandra however to me seems to have idk what it is.... To sharp facial features or something, I prefer her DA2 or even better her DOTS look

If Cassandra saw a new face, it would have struck the knife into the eggs designers.

Pull your head out of their asses. Why are you even in this thread if you do not care about or think discussion about the physical appearance of the characters is a valid/right discussion to have. Just because you do not feel something is discussion worthy does not make it so, fact is we know little to nothing about most of the very topics you mentioned that you considered valid ones to discuss so saying such was pointless.

When the in-game model of Varric for DA2 was revealed, it took me a while to get used to his truly massive jaw/chin. Now that it's smaller in DA:I, though, I perversely find that I miss it. I guess it's just a question of what I'm used to and adapting to new art.

so basically if I don't like Mirri's new design I'm a Miginistic ****?

Even my 3 years old niece takes criticism better than that.

on topic:
Mirri, I won't say anything, her appearance here is stylized like in a dream sequence.

Varric, I didn't even know it was him, if it is then I'd say that I'd like him to smile like before but considering what he is seeing... I think the character looks like he is matturing (and also git Udina'd considering his suddent hair color change :P)

Cassandra always liked her, she looks alot like FemHawke, even though the camera angle seems to give her a wierd jaw, but I'll wait other images.

Please David don't call me a misogyn/midget-hater :P

I'll say it again. Morrigan is stunningly beautiful, but the other two could USE MORE WORK, especially Cassandra. Her face would be much more faithful to the original design were it not for the overly square jaw. She had very delicate features.

I remember when people were going absolutely wild about Izzy's face in DA2, one of the complaints being that her jaw was far too big. When DA2 was released, most of the criticism faded. Her face turned out to be fine. I'm sure the same will happen with Morri and co.

Also, the pic of new Morri that is being reposted the most is when she is talking, when she has her mouth closed the pouty lips/cheeks are nowhere near as pronounced.

Well, unless there's a specific pose you're looking for, you're likely to get an unflattering picture.

It happens.
