So what is your opinion on Morrigan, Varric & Cassandra's new looks?

I actually like all three so far.

Morrigan looks the best so far of all the three. Didn't really care for the dress too much at first but it has been growing on me. The fact that it's similar to the dress Leliana suggests makes it even better. I was fixated on the birthmarks too, and thought they were out of place at first. Though after some thought, I think it helps to distinguish her even more and it isn't really out of place. Could do with a different hairstyle, but all things considered I like.

As for Varric, I felt he looked great as well but I'm so used to seeing him with that huge jaw. Granted, it's still large but it seems like it should be larger. I'd even go on to say he is on par with Morrigan. I just loved his design in DA2 it's difficult to see him otherwise. Still rather faithful in my humble opinion. Even more so than Morri.

Now Cassandra I really can only give a passing mention. I never really got through DA2 so she doesn't stand out too much. That being I do like her look. The stronger jaw is a nice touch as I felt most of the female npcs all had heart shaped faces in DAO and DA2. I'll be happy if there is much more variation in the new character creator if this is the case.

It's a new engine, so I'm not surprised their faces look a little different. I'm just happy we aren't dealing with DA2 Zevran levels of different, honestly.

@LPPrince  I never got why she had a sword in those concepts haha. Real samurai look. Did oddly help my head-canon though... since the sword looks similar to one of my Wardens

Likely the artist wanted Morrigan to be in Arcane Warrior mode.

Very cool!

I don't know if it was deliberate, but Morrigan actually resembles Claudia Black a bit more. I lile it.
Varric looks skinnier and more 'lived' no wonder with all this conflict...

And, if EA was speaking the truth and this was ingame...NICE. These facial animations should draw us into the story even more. Maybe that's why they changed engines anyway...

I am extremely curious about what the new engine is capable of doing with the facial expressions and the way characters actually walk around.

Know that what the changes were for the females and the discussions about that in DA2 B).
Female Hawke in cinematics however walked very differently though.

I still like playing old school games which did not have features like that at all but I know that the engine used for DAI has a lot of possibilities for things like that and am kind of expecting to see them happen.

My feeling on the beauty marks is pretty simple, people sometimes get such blemishes as they age, works for me...

I have two moles on my face, not that different from Morrigan's 'beauty marks', that weren't there ten years ago. It happens.

Probably been said already, but Morrigan is just smoking hot. Plus that new hairstyle she has just makes her even more attractive.

I think Varric looks a little too human, but I'm fine with the other two. I just want to play the game.

I'm thinking a lot of it is the animation

You are probably correct on this with regards to the face. Still dont like the outfit.

Probably the lack of motion of the upper lip and the tad too wide jaw.
As i look on the new face it's beginning to grow on me.

Well I haven't played DA2 so my opinion of Varric and Cassandra's appearance is sort of irrelevant.

For Morrigan....I don't know, she looked kind of weird to me, sort of off. I do prefer her Origins appearance to what was seen in the trailer, but I realize that it's a new engine etc. which will result in some differences especially if they're still tweaking the system or what not.

And there is also over a year to go so the final appearance may change, if I had my druthers though I'd vote for her Origins look over the new one.

Morrigan isn't bad, but she does have a bit too much jaw. If they wanted Cassandra to look grittier I think a less sleek hairstyle would have been sufficient, or a small scar. I recognized her because of her role, not her new face. Why do they need to change proportions because of a new engine? Varric, on the other hand was immediately recognizable as Varric, or a more human version of Varric. He seems less dwarflike. Overall he was okay.

She have a scar now. ;)

Still pretty even on those that are perfectly fine with them and those that feel there's a need for changes in that poll. Too small a number to count but its a good idea of how we feel here on the forums, at least.

in response to the title: morrigan needs a great deal of tweaking to look realistic (it's....off, not ugly, off)

varric looks like he's fallen on hard times, it fits, and cassandra just needs a slight jaw tweaking to look like an improved version of her DA:2 apperance (like the scars, helps tell you this woman has been in the thick of it)

The poll has the current total of 190 votes with around 50% feeling the characters are pretty good.

Not bad at all, considering that this is the BSN... Also even the "negative" responses have been pretty mild with just requests for minor retouches here and there.

Reading yet more of Gaiders utterly hilarious posts where he displays his ineptitude with regards to PR with such groundbreaking clarity removes any doubt I had that this game will suck. EA need to set up some kind of training program for it apparently. If you take a look at at say, Blizzards' blue posters, and compare them to this joker things start to get worrying.

The only Bioware representative on these forums who comes off as someone with above average intelligence firmly believes Dragon Age 2 wasn't an awful game, and doesn't have any real power in the game anyway. There is not just zero expectation of DAI being as good as or better than the new Witcher game; there is no chance.

What would BSN do without optimists like imbs ?

If you think Witcher is better than DA you should go play it. Me, I prefer DAO and DA2. Mysoginy and sexism are not my cup of tea

Really is that necessary? Can't you just say you don't like the look of it and move on?

Post above last.  Sorry Remiri1

....And you're on these forums why exactly? It's fine if someone has low expectations for a game, and offers up critiques as to how they would improve the game, but when you blatantly come on here to just state how much you hate David Gaider and how the Witcher 3 is going to be so much better than DA:I, it reeks of someone who is extremely bored and in need of attention. Especially when we have very little info to go off of in terms to what DA:I will actually be like.

My suggestion is that you either:
A) stop coming to these forums, as you clearly do not care about DA:I
B) Find a hobby to do outside of the computer. Go and shoot some hoops, work out, etc. Much more healthy lifestyle than going to these forums and acting like a troll
or C) Be more patient and wait for some actual details to come out on the game before making any judgement calls.

As a side note, you could also go to the Witcher forums and discuss how much you love that game and think it will be superior to other RPGs as opposed to coming here.

I don't like the look of either game, and only game of either series I have enjoyed was DAO. Realistically however the new Witcher will be better, and will do better than DAI. Have you not read some of the posts by the devs on these forums? It really is embarrassing and is such an easy thing to fix. I'm all for having Devs being able to offer real posts rather than the typical safe-posting, but these posts they put out are just feeble.

Honestly not worth responding to this rubbish. I will say however that I do care about DA:I as much as one can care about a possible future side-hobby. My posts do not indicate otherwise, they just indicate that I think it'll probably be terrible.

What your posts indicate is that you believe most of the Bioware employees on these forums are not intelligent, that you think DA:I will be rubbish, and that the Witcher will be better than this game. You don't post any links as to what you hate about the devs, and you clearly have nothing to add to either the topic of this thread, nor the game as a whole, other than 'it sucks'. Nothing about your posts indicate a willingness to discuss this game in any intelligent dialogue, and it's clear that you are extremely bored, and acting in a trollish behaviour, hence my suggestions.

So I ask again, why are you even on these forums?

I do find it hilarious, however, that after saying how you think DA:I will be terrible, you're still considering buying it as a 'possible future side-hobby'. Typically, one avoids buying games that they believe will suck.

I think I'll end this 'discussion' here though. Reading so many troll posts in one day have obviously started to get to me, and I have a sudden desire for a beer.

I would rather a game be judged on its own merits rather than against other games. Also it is difficult to judge a game based on a short trailer when there is another 15+ months of development.

Personally I liked the look of Varric, Cassandra and Morrigan (shame no Varric chest hair!). And the trailer itself. Looking forward to seeing more.
