If one were to go by forum posters commenting on a character's initial reveal, Morrigan in DAO was beyond hideous. I recall a number of long topics over how giant her jaw was, how misshapen her lips were, how her shoulders were too wide and her body badly animated. Also, Merrill had enormous breasts, Isabela an impossibly masculine jaw and Leliana giant fish-lips which were impossible to look past.

Possibly people just like dissecting the appearance of female characters. I'm not sure. Maybe it's just something you get used to, or will never like simply because it's different. I suppose you'll find out eventually.

Personally, I liked her new look. As I said in the DAO section, it's like a well-done mix of Sacred Ashes Morrigan, DAO Morrigan, and just a hint of Claudia Black sprinkled in. Like a recipe. So kudos to you guys on making her look good.

And wasn't Carver called derpy or something in the past because of a screenshot or two?

Eh, only complaint I have is she looks half blind with her hair in her eye like that.

Mmyeahhh there were people complaining about Varric's new look too, though.

It's a product of society.
Actually I'm much more interested in what the *male* characters/companions will look like, David.
Morrigan looks fine. Varric looks good. Cassandra looks great.

Despite the uncanny valley, I'd say the biggest difference from her previous appearance and her current one is that her lips are less voluptuous.

At the same time you shouldn't just discard everything thats said as nonsense though. Most posters in here with positive or negative responses agree that theres something not quite right with that jawline/mouth etc.

I don't know for sure. Right now I'm a bit scared that DAI is going to continue the theme of making the graphics uglier. I know technically speaking the graphics were amazing, but none of the faces were very pleasing to the eye (like da2). Here's hoping it looks better (or I adjust) over time.

As for Morgan though she looks kind of like she has been hanging out with Isabella too much. Cheap. Hope she cleans up a bit before launch.

Females are always attacked for not looking "perfect" enough.

BUT

Morrigan is looking too much like Lulu from Final Fantasy. Please, try to change her hair at least.

I think she looks fine. I recognized her right away and I haven't touched either DA game in forever. People here whine too much. Her entire look in DA:O screamed repressed nerd sexual urge anyways. Heaven forbid a character based on the premise of mothering a demigod actually start to look more like a mother and less like a reject hooker thrown out a White Snake music video.

What's with the focus on her jaw? The same thing was said about Cassandra.
Not all women have tiny, triangular jaws.

We absolutely will discard it, just as we discarded most of the nonsense posted about the other characters I mentioned.

That said, I imagine the looks of just about all the characters will undergo various amounts of tweaking as time goes on. Cassandra didn't look the same in initial DA2 trailers as she did in the game, as an example.

Morrigan looks beautiful. I was honestly surprised at how similar all the characters looked to their original appearance considering it's a different engine. We haven't seen elves yet though so there may still be some lol's ahead. :P

Not singling you out, just pointing out that people have commented on both Morrigan's and Cassandra's jawlines.

I hope you guys don't change how Cassandra looks. She is just...perfect. I want to kiss all her scars.

I prefer her DAO look personally. Not sure why exactly. Maybe she's stepped into uncanny valley for me? :?

The thing I remember about Morrigan in DAO was the strange way her bare back was drawn and animated. To me her back looked like she was wearing someone else's skin on top of her own. When she would talk about living in the wilds and wearing animal skins, I always used to think "by animal you mean other people?"

I don't care that much about character appearances and recognize the limitations of computerized animations -- your're somewhere between a cartoon and something that looks almost human but not quite. Emo hair does bother me. Why anyone pursuing an active lifestyle would want hair that doesn't just cover your eyes but is constantly catching in your eyes...yikes! is beyond me.

Hate it, myself. it's how big the cheeks are. In DA:O she had fairly sallow cheeks.

But that's just me.

Then thats a little sad. This thread hasn't been filled with bickering or bitter responses of how you are the devil for whatever reason. Infact I'd say most of it has been positive. Not everything on this forum is toxic waste David.

But fair enough. Long time until release anyway, I imagine all the characters will be tweaked several times over by the time its out.

A while back I heard something about a dark-haired Orlesian court mage? Or something like that? I guess that's as good as confirmed now that Morrigan's all frou-frou.

And she always did love extravagant, shiny things... even if it was in secret.

Her epilogue slide in Origins said that someone matching her description was serving in the Empress's court.

If she's serving the Empress of Orlais, odds are low that she'd get away with walking around in leather pants with a scarf covering her boobs. It's a distinctly Orlesian noblewoman's dress, but it still looks like something she'd wear, though likely not enjoy. And, as others have mentioned, she's around 40 in Inquisition.

Cassandra already had a strong jawline. People complaining on that count are even sillier than the others.
