And she failed to make Anderson the 1st human spectre.

Udina, worst ambassador ever, succeded in making Shepard the 1st human spectre.

This is, of course, irrefutable evidence of Unina's utter incompetence, and his predecessor's aptitude.

Udina succeeding? *rofl* Excuse me? I didn't see Udina providing evidence that Saran was a traitor. I could have sworn I was the one finding Tali and the evidence.

I think you played some other Mass Effect game. Where your protagonist was a clairvoyant pilgrim. In everybody' else's Mass Effects, read it and face it, Shepard is just a jarhead who is supposed to follow orders of his superiors (including Cpt. Anderson & Amb. Udina), at least before he makes it into Spectres, which is also only because of Udina, and then he becomes an errand boy for the lazy aliens, who may toss him out of the Citadel any time they like.

I killed the council, and elected Udina to lead it. He's more cut out to e the leader than anderson, who merely a solder. Udina proved he's willing to do what's necessary, and that's what humanity needs.

No humanity needs someone with the will to do to what's necessary and the intelligence to know what that is.  Anderson is the man who saw the real threat, the danger faced by the galaxy and he did what was necessary to ensure the one person capable of stopping it wasn't grounded by blind politicians.  That is what humanity needs a man with the conviction to do what is necessary, the sense to know what is necessary, and the courage to go against what people want to secure what they need.

Yep. Because Udina saved Eden Prime himself, right? It didn't have anything to do with Shepard. And of course it was Udina who wanted to recruit Shepard into the Spectres, not Nihlus. Right, I remember that. And when the council refused to do anything about Saren, it was Udina who suggested I be sent after him. No...wait..that was me. Hmmm.

I did the same thing. He's the kind of no BS, ends justify the means leader we need.

Humanity should outsource its diplomacy. Of all the political characters in the game, be it ambassadors, council members or diplomats, the only one who was consistently helpful, sociable (good for establishing trust and initiating dialogs!) and level-headed was the Elcor ambassador.

If that's not allowed, then Anderson is the best choice. Honourable, charismatic, heroic, sensible and willing to hear and see both sides of an issue. He saw the importance of working with aliens without ever losing sight of protecting humanity. And he's Keith David, meaning he has Goliath's voice in case he needs to intimidate someone.

Even as a renegade... I couldn't come to like Udina.

Kids... There's a difference between being a badass and an ****...

Shephard was a badass (even as a renegade. He/she persuaded people through intimidation... not yell like a spoiled child who didn't get his way)
Udina was an ****. All he did was yell at others when he didn't get his way... like a spoiled child who didn't get his way

It is granted that Council races need Humanity to develop the Attican Traverse and absorb any collateral damage it tags. That's why the Council against the escalation of the 1st Contact war or trade emargo over some silly AI stuff. Hey, they don't even care about rogue AIs on the Presidium!

And Udina simply put Humanity on the Council (in the very least).

The council was actually planning to impose heavy sanctions on the SA for that silly AI stuff. The only reason that didn't happen was cause Ambassador Goyle held a speech about humanity. Now if I imagine Udina would have been Ambassador at that time..... *shudders at the thought*

And Udina didn't put humanity on the council. You can thank the Fifth Fleet for that who sacrificed their lives to save the council (at least that was the choice I made). That proved to the council that Humanity was worthy of a seat on the council.

And Shepard becoming a Spectre is all thanks to Udina. Guess those other people discussing your "application" to the Spectres at the start of the game were just there for what? Bit of airtime?

But I suppose it all comes down to this, you like Udina and I hate his guts. :D

This thread has always been boring = fail.

That thread was fun. I think about restarting it.

I have to admit that the picture of Udina clenching his fist and that little kid was epic. ^_^

Yeah, people like you love to listen to fancy BSy speeches and despise of backroom deals. And then  GI Joe goes into jungle/mountains/whatever and stays there to rot 'cuz somebody just wanted to please everyone.

I don't like Udina. I don't expect him to like me or Anderson. He is not my friend. But he is the best man for the job.

The one thing I like that he did was telling the council off right before you become a Spectre.

He was boring, until the end. If you kill the council and elect him he becomes the Emperor from Star Wars right before you.

Ambassador indicates to me someone who shows the best we as a race or nation have to offer as well as the skill and desire to work with others; Udina showed none of that.

I see no reason for a renegade to support Udina at all. Udina's an ass, but he's not a renegade; he rolls over for the council and grounds you, and it's Anderson who goes renegade to break the law and get the job done.
