With the sky opening and creatures coming through in the trailer it seems like DA:I is returning to a more conventional fantasy plot. The big bad opens a portal, demons come through, you close it and save the world...
The mages/templars war seems to be secondary to the demons invading. Not that the story still can't have interesting twists or be done in a different way.
Personally I was hoping for a more political central plot. Even in Origins the Loghain storyline was more interesting than just fighting the Archdemon. I'm really hoping there's more to it.
Save the world from otherwordly hordes?

Ha. I can't even be annoyed by those who've evidently figured out the plot from that trailer and are already bored by it. It's kind of funny, really.
It's a different tack from DA2, certainly. But we do like to do that from game to game. The stakes are certainly higher. Hopefully you all like the details as they come out. Or complain about them... but since some of you enjoy doing that a lot, I imagine it's win/win overall.

Am I right in assuming that instead of the just Mage vs Templar conflict, what we see in the trailer (and by what we've read/heard after the reveal on E3), that it's a ****storm of different conflicts? Dragons darken the sky, the Veil is torn asunder so Demons are rampaging around, Mage vs Templar conflict, Civil War in Orlais, and Grey Wardens fighting Darkspawn?
There are a number of ways to interpret the trailer, I imagine. It's pretty safe to say, I think, that any supposed demonic horde would not be the only conflict in DAI any more than the darkspawn were the only conflict in DAO.
