Mostly it doesn't say much, but it isn't supposed to, maybe Bioware will even tell us more through tweets and other things

No the choice we have is

That what the E3 trailer revealed.
Question is: Why would anyone want to destroy the world, assuming they need to live in it afterwards.

Ha. I can't even be annoyed by those who've evidently figured out the plot from that trailer and are already bored by it. It's kind of funny, really.
It's a different tack from DA2, certainly. But we do like to do that from game to game. The stakes are certainly higher. Hopefully you all like the details as they come out. Or complain about them... but since some of you enjoy doing that a lot, I imagine it's win/win overall.
What if some of us are actual fans of DA, David, who've stated plainly before that they've never played a bad Bioware game, that they fully expect Bioware to deliver a great game?
I find your blanket dismissal and snark confusing.

Then don't feel like he put you under that blanket? Honestly you are here enough to recognize there a many vocal posters day in and day out, thread after thread playing the "BioWare is damned no matter what they do and If I like it I win and if I hate it I still win and all my worries are validated" games.

I agree, but I'm seeing little of that in this thread.

With the sky opening and creatures coming through in the trailer it seems like DA:I is returning to a more conventional fantasy plot. The big bad opens a portal, demons come through, you close it and save the world...
The mages/templars war seems to be secondary to the demons invading. Not that the story still can't have interesting twists or be done in a different way.
Personally I was hoping for a more political central plot. Even in Origins the Loghain storyline was more interesting than just fighting the Archdemon. I'm really hoping there's more to it.
Well, I knew this was coming, mainly because the attempts at a grounded plot were not well liked in Dragon Age II, while the political plotline in Origins was never really the focus of the feedback.
That said, I am sure enough stuff is going on that will warrant something to talk about in that realm.

Of course the other worldly horde theme is reminiscent of Oblivion. I feel sure Gaider will distinguish DAI from Oblivion somehow.

Maybe because of the truth...?And maybe it is a paradox...
The one who save the world is actually carrying the Devil plan and so destroying it, the one who destroy the world is actually carrying God's plan and so saving it

No I have been around here (BioWare forums for over a decade at this point) and I never got the impression he thinks of himself in such a way.
He has done some great writing that a lot of people around here love and other hate. He has also been rather blunt and tactless something I understand. It is also something a lot of people dislike because he coddles no one.

Actually I can come up with three possible reasons:
1. They are dupes who don't believe they will actually destroy the world.
2. They believe (for whatever reason) that they can remake or recreate the world (or a world anyway) once this one is destroyed presumably to their liking.
3. They don't give a damn and want to see the world burn, themselves including (see Joker from Batman)

Did you believe you figured out the entire plot from the trailer, and are bored? Are you part of the 'some' that enjoy complaining about every little thing?
If not, then his comment didn't pertain to you whatsoever. It wasn't a blanket dismissal. It was a targeted dismissal.

One thing which might work in its favor is the inclusion of Flemeth, if she's leading the Demons. That potentially makes this way more interesting than the Darkspawn/Archdemon, since she's such a fun character. I just hope Bioware includes a good amount of politics to play with, as in DA:O.
