the guy with the potato sack face at the beginning? Please? Then with imports they could actually use your Hawke and show how dead and out of the picture he/she is? I'm not bitter about anything?

Why would it be Hawke?

Not that I like Hawke either but its more than likely just random solder #78609

Or Varric could be mourning the event that is unfolding? I don't think it matters who is in the sack, it's the fact that is is death he is mourning and the people affected by these events.

Hawke doesn't die, he only becomes more powerful than you could ever imagine.

I'm being a little over-the-top here, I played DA2 and bought the DLC and have taken some enjoyment from the experience, but in general I felt it was a huge leap in the wrong direction for the series and a real let-down. I really hope DA3 has more of that Origins spirit and I think one great way to do that would be to **** all over Hawke in the game's intro.

Which isn't likely, but wouldn't it be great?

Given the relative size of the body to Varric, it either wasn't human or wasn't an adult.

my thought is that its either hawke or a random soldier, he is just being affected by all the death around him.

I always knew BW likes to troll the community. I just see how they drink their beer and lol about that scene. We all thought what they intended us to think.

If Hawke was supposed to be the chosen one (the only one than can stop the world from going to hell) doesn't he has to die to make our protagonist the last "hope"?

I'm just saying it could match the need for a new protagonist.

I would love for that to be dead Hawke, and I'm also glad I'm not the only one who had that thought.  The best thing BioWare could possibly do to make up for DA2 would be to kill off Hawke.

If they just outright kill Hawke in the third game I'm gonna be pissed. It would be like 'Oh we can't import your Hawke so we're just gonna put a bag over his head and kill him'

It's unlikely that is Hawke, but if it turns out to be... I'm gonna be mad!

Yeah. Hawke probably died tripping over the bodies and broke her neck.

Can't say I'm sad to see her go.

I did get that vibe a bit, that said I don't get the Hawke hate.

A part of me would rather they leave his/her fate ambiguous so I can headcanon my own. A part of me wants to know what happens, whatever that may be. So.. *shrug*

I'd be okay with Hawke dying but I'd be super bummed if she was bumped offscreen as a mea culpa for DA2. Why alienate those of us who loved DA2 and our Hawkes? There are plenty of other mea culpas they could perform that wouldn't be so backhandedly dickish.

Maybe Hawke gets martyred at the beginning of the game. And Varric was too late to save him/her and thus goes uber-moody for the rest of the game.

It would be pretty dickish to those who actually liked Hawke, but still. A thought.

I loved my Hawke (and DA2), more than my Warden, and would be very upset to see her killed off-screen just to get around any potential face import issues or as some kind of weird message about DA2. I wondered the same thing when I saw the body, and so hope it isn't the case. I'd rather Hawke wasn't mentioned or shown at all than that. :(

I hope it was not hawke. I acutally favored my hawke over my warden
