If Bioware kills Hawke offscreen I won't be able to even care about DA3. Why should I?

What? Nonsense. Hawke is the most important person in Thedas, his/her rise to power is legendary. Clearly, s/he is hard working, trying to find a solution to all this conflict.

If Hawke was supposed to be the chosen one (the only one than can stop the world from going to hell) doesn't he has to die to make our protagonist the last "hope"?

I'm just saying it could match the need for a new protagonist.

Keep in mind folks that there are fans of Hawke he's not universally hated as say Silver or Princess Elise from Sonic 06 so the idea of killing Hawke off would be one of the worst things Bioware could do with DA:I, why do something that will ****** off one group of fans to appease another group fans.

Furthermore as Sandal pointed the body is female, so it should be someone different that Varric knows.

Opening the game by killing off Hawke would make me very happy. I'd prefer to see the entire cast of Dragon Age 2 die by the end of the tutorial but...eh, we'll see.

That would be so traumatic our Inquisitor would probably have nightmares for the rest of the game. ;)

I'm glad somebody got my joke!

Edit: or rather, everyone got it. Actually not that funny; kind of a bad omen if people who ply their trade in ending lives are irked by common happenings. Kids are dumb.

Red=Chantry

Blue=Mages

Green=Marriage alliances between all bisexual companions and pets.

Refuse=Qunari open up a mission en Val Royeaux.

When you discover the corpse of a child, the possibilities are endless.

I don't think Hawke is that important. I got the vibe from DAII that Hawke's "destiny" or whatever was to be involved with the whole Circle uprising thing, and that Cassandra was looking for him/her because of their influence over a group of people - mages or templars, depending on the side s/he picked. (I'm assuming there's a version of "someone the mages would listen to" for a templar-siding Hawke. I've never gone pro-templar.)

If they need to kill off Hawke, who was completely ineffectual as a protagonist, to justify making the Inquisitor the best option for saving the world...uh, not a good sign.

This.

Also that body does not look like a full grown human, Varric's whole hand is the size of the body's head. A child or an elf mage hung for what they are? I'm pretty sure the death of a child would get that look from Varric.

Agreed.  I actually liked both DA2 and Hawke, but s/he is less of a traditional hero and more of the person who just happens to be in the middle of a pivotal event.

And besides, Hawke can be horribly unfit for the task of saving the world.  Mine's a blood mage who romanced Anders and happily hopped on the crazy train to Revolution Town.  It's a pipe dream of mine, but I hope my Inquisitor can kill my Hawke.

Since some of us didn't hate DA2, I really hope it isn't a dead Hawke under the cover.

Yep really hope it isn't either. Would really remove all inclination to replay DA2 if the protaganist has a cheap railroaded death screeen left.

They wouldn't...they couldn't! Speaking personally for a second; Hawke is too important to me for him to just die for absolutely no reason off-screen! I invested time in to him...I invested MONEY! He rightfully deserves recognition, despite what some people would like to think!

1. The thread title made me laugh for like 5 minutes. :D
2. I didn't even think of thissssssss. If it is Hawke, awesome. I don't hate Hawke, I just really want some beloved characters to die off already. Not our expendable sis/bro/mom. Hell has burst open. If everyone makes it to the end, the threat won't feel as great... That's my opinion. I'd even be fine if our Warden gets killed; BUT I wanna see it. It should be a worthy death.

That's brilliant.  I noticed the body looked very female in the close up and it looked fairly short in the distant shot.  There were 2 of them similarly bound laid out together.  The innkeeper and the barmaid would also cause Varric sorrow and emphasize how war destroys innocents on its way.  Good theory, dekkerd!:lol:

Nah, Hawke is at the Bee and Grub eating a nug cutlet with an emmer lager. That guy was the one who gave Varric good deals on replacement parts for Bianca.

I hope it's not Hawke. If you didn't enjoy DA II, fine. But that's no reason to kill off Hawke, because some people here might have liked Hawke.

From a business point of view, killing of either Hawke or The Warden off screen would probably not be a wise move, if anything, it should remain our choice whether or not either of them dies.

I highly doubt that was Hawke in the trailer. But as someone who loved their snark ****hole of a Hawke, I think an onscreen death for Hawke would have massive impact and really help to legitamize the stakes. (not to mention the obvious symbolism of killing off the old pc)

The thing is. I had a sense that Varric is a bit tall for a dwarf in this scene. He almost looks like human, probably, they did not "scale" him in a proper way yet? ))
