I think when Hawke dies he becomes a dragon. Thus DRAGON age. Did I just blow your mind or what?

I'd be okay with Hawke dying but I'd be super bummed if she was bumped offscreen as a mea culpa for DA2. Why alienate those of us who loved DA2 and our Hawkes? There are plenty of other mea culpas they could perform that wouldn't be so backhandedly dickish.

Alianating? I would applaud such a move.

All this "previous protagonists" does is put a giant stone around the writers neck.

Why COULDN'T both of them be dead? They aren't immortal.
So there goes Hawke into the burning orphanage to save some trapped children. Oh noes! The roof collapsed! No more Hawke.

Simple.
Truth be told I'm a bit tired of "meaningfull" or "heroic" deaths. Death is not choosy. There is no meaning to it. There might be something poetic in dying in a climactic duel with an evil overlord, but when every second character dies that way?
I want to see poeple die, "pointless" deaths. Unheroic.
Death, death, death. For everyone equally.

That also goes for Hawke and Warden - if there is not a sensible way to put them in DA3 (and I don't see any), then frak them.

Well, I think the Warden should die in heroic fashion but I could care less about Hawke.

One of the blades where varric stands, resembles a weapon from the grey wardens, so i dont think its hawke.

Haha! I thought the same when I saw this trailer. Varric is there because those two bodies covered with cloth are Hawke and LI.

Yep. Varric was protective over Merrill, like a big brother.

At first I was like "NO! Hawke! No!" Then I was like "Actually, is that a warden sword?" And then I was like "GUESS I'LL FIND OUT IN A YEAR AND A HALF!"

....I kind of hope it's not Hawke, because I loved that bumbling chucklehead in a way that I haven't loved my epic space heroes, or my big damn fantasy heroes. Not that they weren't awesome, but Hawke had something. Maybe just the way things never quite worked out for her, but she kept trying. It wouldn't hugely surprise me if it was Hawke and Fenris. But it would make me very sad.

Personally and for story sake I'm kind of okay with Hawke being the dead sack, I enjoy being emotionally tortured hence why I love Dragon Age. The trailer looked incredibly brutal and dark. I cannot wait.

I'll be about as sad as Varric if it is, I liked Hawke more than the Warden.

I noticed that Varric is covering his chest hair, with the red piece of silk or whatever that can be found on the champion armor for all three classes for Hawke? I don't think the corpse in front of Varric is the corpse of Hawke, but I think Hawke might've died earlier than that, and Varric was with him/her and picked up his/her piece of red silk thingie to remind him of Hawke.

Don't care if Hawke dies or not. S/he couldn't change anything important in DA2 and was mostly a pawn, thanks to Bioware writers. Voiceovers were bad too, especially female. But don't they dare to do anything with the Warden.

as funny as that would be, it would be unfair for people who liked Hawke, just as killing the warden would be unfair for people (like me) who preferred that character. On screen death? Ok. Off screen? Low blow people, low blow.

I never liked Hawke, but he was an hero after all and so he has the right to be treated by Homer laws:

1- Only heroes have a name and can speak (doesn't apply to videogames).
2- An hero can be killed only by another hero (or a god).
3- When a hero is defeated he has the right to say his last words before dying.

So I downvote the idea of making Hawke die off-screen, without having the last stand he deserves. And remember: at the end of Dragon Age he was one of the greatest warriors/rogues/mages of his times, able to defeat endless waves of enemies (DA2 combat was pretty much about that). He can't just die in battle like a useless soldier.

I don't think it is anyone at all that we know. Just some random victim.

My thought about it is.... If its Hawke, well that's kind of sad. But, if I find out its Hawke, I have a perfect Hawke to fit with that role--self sacrificing lady that Rosalie Hawke was. D':
...Actually kind of hoping for that now.

I loved my Hawke (and DA2), and would be very upset to see her killed off-screen just to get around any potential face import issues or as some kind of weird message about DA2. I wondered the same thing when I saw the body, and so hope it isn't the case. I'd rather Hawke wasn't mentioned or shown at all than that. :(

I also think it's Hawke.
And the living warden will heard their calling and be gone into the deep road.
That's the best they could do , I think.

Not that I'm happy about their death , but I think it's impossible to import our pc in the current engine ...
And knowing they are out in the world , and doing nothing while everything is falling apart is strange.

Well there's also the Flemeth ate them solution .

Anyway if Hawke and the Warden are indeed dead , I hope they will get a heroic death.Hawke needs to suceed at something , make him/her save something important .

The body was female.

This.

Why would they make a default Hawke and even use him in the trailer for one game and then completely change him in the next trailer?

Easy, they wouldn't.

I think I already posted in this thread, but oh well.

The heads are covered and there is no blood on that body. Which means if they were executed they were hung. Somehow I doubt Hawke would go down without a fight (and in my case Fenris would have been right there with her), so there would have been blood on the body if it was Hawke.

Also the body and head is too small to be an adult (in comparison with Varric's hand). Chances are it is a child who was a mage that was hung for being a mage.
