Just a thought, but, anyone/anything with the ability to kill Hawke would, by necessity, likely leave very little left to bury.

I hope it was the Warden personally.

I'll be honest, I have absolutely no clue how people saw a body tied in a burlap sack and reached the conclusion that it's Hawke. Just because Varric looks all sad at the bodies doesn't seem to me at all indicative that it's a personal friend, more a general despair over how much of a mess things are.

Hah, if that were the case, these forums would...oh man.

I wonder...would my Warden kill Hawke?

Picturing it in my head, I guess it is indeed possible under a circumstance of my Warden finding out that Hawke was around for the spark that created this whole mess and did nothing really to stop it, being utterly useless.

Not sure if he'd kill her over it though. Perhaps if Morrigan persuaded him that it was necessary, and even then he'd question her heavily about it. But still, I don't know.

My Hawke could probably kill my Warden if it came to a fight.

Because being an Assassin in DA2 is so laughably OP.

How can you hate the PC? Hawke was awesome. Not as bad ass as the Hero of Ferelden! But still pretty cool.

It be a tough fight but my Warden would kill Hawke because of all his BA companions!

There is no way it was Hawke. His/Her character is too important to Dragon Age and it is more likely a soldier and Varric is just sad about the whole situation and how the world has turn to hell. I don't think anyone major died in the trailer, now in DA:I, I bet some major characters can die.

I much prefer my Warden over Hawke, but I'd be hard-pressed to choose if they went at it one-on-one. My Hawke is probably a better duelist (weapon and combat focused rogue, Duelist/Assassin) but my Warden has a bigger bag of tricks (Duelist/Ranger/Legionaire Scout with Master Stealth and Arrow of Slaying) so I'd probably give it to my Warden in the end.

Now, if the opening cinematic of DA:I can extrapolate a fully rendered fight sequence between my Warden and my Hawke in the midst of the mage wars and that's how Dead!Hawke McSackface got there... well, now, having thought of it, I'm gonna have a hard time being satisfied with anything less.

*sigh* I like both my Hawke and my Warden, equally. Never understood the hate because of his/her incompetence, which I don't see it. Now regarding OP's topic. Well, you aren't that much observant.

As you can see in the trailer, the silhouette of the body is rather quite smaller than Varric and his hand. I don't see how this is Hawke. I mean seriously? It never even crossed my mind, as the figure obviously looked quite small, for God's sake. It could either be a female dwarf, or a child. SMH

I really don't like the the "kill off camera" approach to the death of major characters. If they're not an important part of the current story then give a reasonable explanation why they've got other things to do and leave it at that. I mean there are plenty of reasons why the Warden isn't involved, from being of on Gray Warden duty, ruling Ferelden, to death, to raising a child with Morrigan in "a place beyond the Fade" (though her appearance should at least merit a mention).

As such I imagine the same could be said of Hawke, though being either the poster-boy/girl for one side in the conflict would make it reasonable to believe Hawke might play some part in the conflict. Or perhaps Hawke just figured enough is enough, and moved away from all of it (I mean Hawke's pretty much lost everything he/she worked for, save perhaps their lover).

It better bloody not be. I get some people don't like Hawke but some of us like them and want to se where there story goes after DA2 and killing of characters of screen is just a rubbish way of either avoiding setting a canon, which isn't an issue with importing, or a hacks way of raising the stakes.

Since Varric will be in DA3 maybe we'll get to find out who Bianca was, since I got the impression she was someone very special to him.
Though I'm guessing I'll feel very bad for poor Varric afterwards... =/

When he was in Vietnam, Hawke murdered a bear. And that bear... WAS MY FATHER.

Also, settle down. I asked my mom and she says I'm much cooler than you. Image IPB

I can't really speak to everyone else's Hawke hate, and I don't HATE Hawke, but I am not that impressed either. If you read my posts on the first page, I actually mention that I enjoy DA2, just not as much as DA:O, and going forward I hope we see things more along the lines of Origins and less along the lines of DA2.

Compared especially to the Warden, who's heroic resume actually deserves the non-ironic use of epic, Hawke is just... y'know, whatever. Someone who was in the right place at the right time, and actually had very little proactivity or influence on major events. Which is the game's fault, not Hawke's, but it keeps the character from being as great to me as the Warden could potentially be.

Also, this thread was 80% a joke.
