So I hope that's not a final Varric.  He seems to have lost his awesome snark look in favor of some kinda GQ dwarf.

I don't see much of a difference except the nose scar. I like how he transitioned between engines.

I sort of like the look of him, he looks a lot more realistic and I think that's what they were going for. Although, I don't really like the engine they are using because I believe the game looks REALLY different to the DA games past. I feel like there's something just plain wrong.

I like the look, but they need to lighten up his hair.

Also, how many people think he loses awesome points for covering up his manly man chest? Ha!

Looks pretty good to me, pretty much the same only in a more realistic engine. Plus...funky angles and still frames can do this like with Isabela's jaw or Carvers derp look. His hair is also darker..but it is raining.

Am more curious as to what he was doing. A battlefield where all the face are already covered, I want to see what there.

Different engine and different times. At the end of DA2 Varric was upset with how things were turning out, the times in Dragon Age isn't much fun and seems to have taken it's toll on Varric.

I think he looks very sexy. A great evolution from engine to another.

He looks younger, somehow.

Eyebrows are definitely different, regardless of the visual angle. That alone is enough to say "That's not Varric."

Also, I get the impression those masked individuals were executed by hanging, not killed in the battle.

So your criteria decide whether its Varric or not?

I like his new design. But regardless, I'm sure Bioware will have lots of time to tweak the characters appearances between now and release.

If you can't tell by the looks, then people should be able to recognize it by the crossbow, Bianca.

There is a change but I am not sure if it is good or bad. And in the trailer, he glistens from awesomeness. Definitely not a "flat look".

People are reading way too much into how he looks. It's perfectly fine. I just can't wait to hear him making his jokes again and kicking ass with Bianca

I really hope he's a companion again. Especially a romanceable one, hurr hurr~ But I'd be content with him just having a cool role to play in DA3.

For the record, I think he looks pretty great. It'll take some getting used to (I'm really fond of his DA2 look), but he certainly doesn't look bad.

Varric seems a bit more "smoldering" in the newer one, which hopefully means they're grooming him as a LI. I wonder if they'll keep the same voice actor.

Other than the scarf and much higher detail, I think if it looks like he's "lost his snark", it's because he's very distraught and upset in the trailer. No one would be thinking snarky remarks during a time like in that trailer. ;)

I like it. He looks like he's actually in a world facing destruction, not some wandering head in the clouds yet oh so short gigolo

I think what's off about him is the eyebrows.

He definitely needs the angular ones. They make him look cocky and snarky and awesome.

I think he looks a lot better personally. Not a fan of DA2's art style.
