For me it looks the same but with better graphics, less cartoonish, and sadder. I'm pretty sure he still has a dashing lady-killer smirk, but right now he's mourning.

They covered up his chest with that plate of armor or w/e in the comics too. Seems to be the direction they want it.

I'm really liking the new look.

I didn't mind the art style in DA2. But for a game which explored numerous dark themes, all the characters looked very clean and had flawless complextions.

The grittier look is definitely something I hope is prevalent in the game and hopefully should lend itself well to the atmosphere.

I'd say the only downside to Varric's new look is that it hides his chest hair. Then again he'll probably say something that it was attracting too much attention and he was getting hit on by everyone. XD

I'm hoping he looks so...different...because of the war scene he is in. I'm also hoping he'll shower and we will see him and his glorious chest hair again.

I'm sure there is still plenty of chin.  It's the perspective, he's looking down and you're looking at him from higher up than the pic from DA2.

Plus if you remove that bandana from around his neck - chin and chest hair! Problem solved!

I think that people need to see what they are doing..this is like the end of the world. The V man has seen and been in such death..he is not the same and we wouldn't be either. He looks like crap from war and loss. It happens and I love what they are doing here.

I think Varric looks very good.Although I did have to kinda make a double take when I saw him.At first I like Varric! then I saw the hair and thought that's not Varric.But then I watched it for a second time and it does indeed appear to be our trusty dwarf:)

I really like the Varric look. He looks older; worn down. The war obviously hasn't been kind to him.

Hm, I wonder if the reason Varric has covered his chest is because it has some nasty scars and the mythical chest hair no longer comes out very well.

I'm starting to like the bigger chin too. He is wearing armor under the scarf, so maybe this is a clue.
