My reasons were that I did not want to do it infront of Clementine.
In my "if I were in this situation" playthrough I killed the first brother with the big fork thing, but then after seeing Clem's face, I wouldn't have been able to do it to the other.
As for the Stranger... well the above clearly shows that I failed at that one xD
Also it's just immoral to kill someone who's no longer a danger to anyone.
Killing them is a pure revenge.

Is there an FAQ somewhere about how imports work for Season 2? I uninstalled the main game and 400 Days from Steam a while back. I'm wondering if I need to reinstall both to import my decisions or if they're already hiding on my computer or in cloud storage somewhere.
