It's not an ideal, it's a matter of training to learn to over come you short comings, more so if you have a condition. Even Clem didn't start out a bad ass.

Outside of Clem no one has been teaching Sarah to be self reliant. You're expecting her to know things she hasn't been taught.

There's the issue she should have been taught by now. It's been two years, there is no reason why she was not taught at all. Even when Clem tried to teach her, she was treating it like a game.

I would say, if you have a disability you would need at least some people to hold on to hope and some form of humanity to help you get through.  I would say Carlos was doing the best under difficult circumstances, as they all are.

Hypothetically, I know I'd be screwed without help if an apocalypse happened.

Then your issue should be with Carlos' choice of parenting not her. I wouldn't say she was treating it like a game, she was just rather ignorant(understandably given her background) in how she should behave. If anything her desire to learn to try and use a gun shows she's willing to learn despite her dad's disapproval. To me at least that shows she's trying, she's just not good at it yet.

Not everyone can be a big badass like you. People deal with things differently. Especially girls accustomed to a carefree, sheltered life before it got turned on its head.

I wish more people would realise this before condemning them. Carver style.

The next time Clem encounters a horde of walkers, I'm gonna be like Aragorn in Lord of the Rings:

(Clem turns to look at the group)

Clem: "For Sarah."

(Cue epic music and Clem charging straight at the walkers)

Serah is 15, she's not a child, she is a teenager. She's also living in a world now where age does not matter anymore, no one seemed to give Chuck a hard time when he gave Lee the hard truth and Lee taught Clem everything he knows, so why does Serah get an excuse? She's older and having a disability is a poor excuse.

Because she may literally not be mentally capable of processing what's happening in the way that Clementine is. And if she is, Carlos may have made an honest and understandable mistake in thinking she wasn't.

I don't know a whole lot about this field, but I don't think these sorts of problems can be addressed through a simple attitude adjustment on the part of parent or child. Serah was probably in some sort of Special Education program where Carlos would get regular updates from teachers and specialists on her progress and what she can and can't handle - obviously, that's not happening any more what with the zombies and all.

In the end, Carlos probably made a bad call in trying to keep her shielded from the worst of the situation rather than taking the risk of trying to explain it to her, but that's us speaking with 20/20 hindsight of how it all turned out. He would have been making a difficult judgment call back when this all started.

That's what i've been thinking for a while now. That Carlos shielded her a bit too much and it might come back and bite her in the future. I'm not by any means asking her to wield machetes or fire guns like the best. Just a bit of the more simple survival skills and a few quite basic skills. It would be hard but not entierly impossible to teach her something over the time this crisis has happened.

That's fair enough. But when that person is a weak link that's liable to get other people killed that's exactly where I feel they need to be cut loose.

Harsh but that's survival.

Especially since Clem's younger than her. If she (Clem) was another Lee (older adult protecting child) I'd be more inclined to feel inclined to go out of the way to help Sarah as it is...

I would hazard a guess that a lot of dislike for the character is that she's 'weak'.   Many of the previous posts here say as much.I'd also hazard a guess that many don't actually know many children in rl.   But to make a story like this work you have to have 'weak' characters - by that I mean characters with what people deem as failings not in the exposition.  I was so angry at Carver for making Carlos hit her, so, so angry, like blood boiling angry.  You don't need to punish the weak to bring order, that is where I think Carver was 'weak'.  He couldn't deal with the fact that not everyone is like him - Clem even says as much to him and he tries to dismiss it by saying 'you're more like me than you realise'.  Maybe so, but with one small difference, Clem has the intelligence to recognise the spectrum of humanity she's come in contact with and deal accordingly.  What makes Clem a survivor is not bully boy strength its resilience and aptitude.

I really hate when people say crap like this.

I know several children. But if I was in a zombie Apocalypse you know the first person I'm dropping? The child that's not mine. Especially if that child is like Sarah. Children often are hardheaded, loud and prone to stupidity. (which is only fair considering their brains aren't even fully developed.)

(And yeah I know Clem's not related to Lee but first it's the beginning of the zombie Apocalypse so everything hasn't gone completely to s*** and I felt that was a redemption mission on Lee's part. Clem has no need to go on a redemption mission let alone for someone older than her especially when she's having a hard enough time keeping herself safe. It also helps that Clem saved his life.)

Also dragging around loads is not something to me that's going to increase Clem's survival rate. I have to agree with that...what's that chick's name? The one who shot the jerkwad in the balls :P That group she's in is gonna get her killed. She and Kenny need to bounce.

I know the feeling, I am heading straight for my Uncle's Cold War Era, Bunker hidden in the foothills of the Rockies.(And people said he was insane building that thing, and wasting years of time and money)

You guys can all get eaten, and i will outlast the apocalypse in a bunker designed to survive the detonation of a nuclear device.

It wouldn't be so bad but that group Clem's with is pathetic. They keep looking at her you'd think Clem was the leader of a group of children.

I probably wouldn't live through a zombie apocalypse. I mean...there wouldn't be pizza or slowly cooked steaks. I can't live in a world without pizza and steaks. I can't.

There are only two decent people in the group, Becca and Alvin. Luke is too shady, Carlos was a idiot, Nick and Serah are close to Ben tier and Pete was a wannabe Lee. I miss the old group. Sure Larry was an ass and Lily was a ****** but at least their reasoning where solid and they where competent along with Carley.

What bugs met he most is TellTale keeps giving us dialog for Clem to outright say she wants to leave with Kenny but nooooooooooooooooo, her and Ken just keep getting dragged into this groups own **** and I'm tired of it. I don't like the group TellTale, plz let us leave with Kenny?

Just mentioning no pizza is depressing enough! Actually living without it? Just let me die instead

I like Luke but he is shady as hell. And if the snapshot is anything to go by he keeps vanishing.

XD I guess Clem wants to see them crash and burn first.
