I don't recall Lady Gaga ever climbing ontop of a speeding bus with no safety gear or doing anything this crazy, one of the greatest bands ever! the Plasmatics. Eventually though Wendy went off on her own and was grammy nominated

Depends on your preferred genre. I was more into Cyndi Lauper and Blondie for "different" at the time. Music I could game/code to after school. These days I tend to look overseas for music, since the local stuff all sounds about the same.
