I've mostly played it on the Xbox 360 (only playing Mass Effect 2 on it because it was my first exposure to the series), but the recent news about the Xbox One and the Playstation 4 have seriously started giving me pause to consider getting the series for a different console.
I'm specifically asking about the Playstation 4, if just because I feel really awkward trying to play shooters on the PC with just a keyboard and mouse (otherwise, this wouldn't be an issue and I'd be getting it for the PC).
Does the Playstation 3 version handle well? Any major bugs that were never patched out?
I am taking this consideration very seriously, because I love the Mass Effect series and I love it enough I'm willing to start over on a brand new console just so I don't have to play it on a toxic one.
Mass Effect on the Playstation 3, how is it?

I have the trilogy on PS3 and it seems to run just fine. No major bugs that I can recall.

In my experience Mass Effect 1 and 2 run well on the PS3, it would be nice if the framerate was less dodgy during the first Earth level in Mass Effect 3 but it's not gamebreaking and the rest of the game is much more in line with ME1 and ME2. Digital Foundry on YouTube do comparisons of the three games on each platform, if you want to see how it plays on the PS3.
When it comes to bugs I can't think of any PS3 specific bugs, just the ones that exist on all versions like Ashley's Marksman bug and a glitch involving Aria in the Omega DLC.

I habe one tip for you though from personal experience:
The ME3 SP seems to run more smoothly if you are NOT connected to the PSN.

Are you talking about the possibility of future imports to MENext on the PS4 (which may not be possible from a PS3 save anyway)? If so, fair enough, but if not, nothing wrong with hanging on to your 360 surely, even if you choose to get a PS4?

the only really annoying problem i've had is during kasumi: lost memories. Shep sometimes glitch hops on top of something and I can't move. but other than that it's fine.

ME1 runs very well, practically like have it run high settings.

A friend who has the ME: Trilogy on PS3 said that she has to run it without auto-save on because it has caused some very bizarre glitches. (Including being unable to defeat Saren.)
Personally, I've played 2 & 3 on PS3 without any trouble, so it may simply be an issue with the ME:T version.

I've played ME1 on PS3 and I find the graphics better than the xbox360. I'm currently doing ME2 on the PS3 and noted the same thing. Once ME2 is done - on to ME3.

Hmm just a few random freezes on ME1 that I've noticed, but that's usually after I've been playing it for a few hours. Usually get a lot of warning as the game starts getting really choppy. ME2 maybe it's just me, but I get some of the strangest bugs, Shepard teleport climbing onto something and being unable to get off, clipped dialogue, and the random never ending load screen. ME3 it's slow in some places and will cause my PS3 to completely freeze for random reasons, but that's about it.

Don't know about the PS3 and how saves would be transferred to the PS4. However, I have often read that you can adapt a corded Xbox controller to use on a PC just need some software. I have an old logictech gamepad which has programmable buttons and can be used at the same time as a keyboard (laptop). Not to be rude but isn;t this common knowledge?
Gonna get a PS4. Not much doubt.

It's runs just very well. I prefer playing the ME Trilogy on the PS3 to playing it on the 360 and there arn't a lot of multi platform games that I can say that about. Having said that load times are an issue, load times on the PS3 version are notably longer then the 360 one, it's especially noticeable when travelling between sections on the Citadel and different levels of the Normandy.
Edit:
Are we talking about ME1, ME2, ME3 or ME in general, because the coment above refers to ME3 ( and to a lesser extent ME2 ). As far as I can tell the PS3 version of ME1 is better than the 360 one although in all fairness I have not touched ME1 on 360 since 2010 and before that Ialmost never ever played it so its hard for me to remember specific details beyond the story and the games faults.
