I support mages too. Support em from a tree with a rope round their necks I say. My sis in law, Linny was her name. She gets a fine job as a charlady at Redcliffe castle. After years a strugglin on the farm. The bother and her and the kids av some income. Lie ain't so hard as twas it was afor.

Then the mages and demons come about and kill em all. We never saw Linny again but only heard she'd been buried with the rest of the people all ripped up there.

After that we hear about the ole village where I was born some kind of battle there they say Templars and mages that had escaped, wrecked the place, the old town hall burnt ta the ground. My old home burned.

Then we heard the other day that mage has gone and blown up the chantry in that city kirkwall killin our holy mother and a lot of others.

Yes indeed if i had it my way they'd not only lock em all away which is too kind for em. they outta hang em all. I'll tell ya one thing, if one of them ever comes around these parts the town milita has agreed to kill 1st and worry about what else helps after.

One could say the same thing for all of those mage haters....

I firmly believe that they're far more mage supporters than they're of Templars :) I just have that gut feeling. It would be nice if Bioware did a survey to actually see which faction receives the most hits.

And this belief has merit?

As in is there a point to it?

Aside from just personal perference should there be some sort of moral justification going along with it?

Such as all Templar supporters are blind uncaring zealots? Etc while the Mage supporters as pure as the driven snow?

Maybe on the BSN, there are more mage supporters. (Which I think is mostly because a lot of people don't look at things in the world itself, but look at Thedas with our views)  But in the Dragon Age world it self?  I'm going to lean to a Templar/neutral support.

I have never seen Mage supporters except for a few gleefully support wholesale genocide or condemning a entire population for the actions of a few. Both groups have their nutjobs IMO.

Eh...I suppose can agree to that although i would agrue it wouldn't be whom most point the finger act.

Such as Lambert or Meridith.

Kerras seems to be...actually gleefully in preforming the duties that need to be done, killing some one shouldn't be a pleasant thing.

Mage or no, you are doing it to protect the outside world because that being threatens it either with action or word and while killing them may be nessary it shouldn't be enjoyable.

Mage haters?  I was talkin to old Brutus tother day at the inn.  We all agreed twas a bad lot in life to be a mage.  Why his sisters kid was one and had to be taken away as a youngin.  Tears all around.  We both agreed though that they can't be trusted on their own.  They come into our village looking for help and they'll find nutthin but trouble they will.

Yet all you do is blame your own failures on magic. One could make the argument that maybe you should stop trying to find a scapegoat for your troubles.

Beerfish presented a situation where mages destroyed two villages. How are the mages in this situation scapegoats rather than criminals?

<_< those guys made me out to be a monster for cleansing the circle.

Honestly while yes it was regretable having to purify it, it couldn't be helped.

I forget to pick up the litany... <_<

The problem will never be solved as long as you don't trust a person on the basis of him/her being something. This is the very basis of discrimination and/or hate: being unwilling to even give a chance to people because they are different. Loghain killed far more people than Uldred did, yet you won't see people insulting generals or advocating closing them away in a tower until they are useful.

Because in Thedas there have been far more than two villages destroyed by armies.
Anecdotical evidence doesn't prove anything but the willingness of the speaker to pin something on someone.

Uldred would have probably killed just as many people, if not more, than Loghain, if he was outside of the tower.  Since he was trapped inside however, his destruction was confined to only being his fellow mages.

Those armies also required thousands of ordinary people.  Whereas, a mage only has to sneeze to destroy one.

He wouldn't have for a simple reason: he was not as powerful as Loghain. Take the Baroness as an example: far more powerful than Uldred; yet she still caused less vi Tim than Loghain did. I'm not advocating for no control; but for a fair law.

The baroness was also trapped in the fade and could only torment those spirits there with her...it wasn't until the warden and the awakened darkspawn showed up and released her from it, and if I recall correctly, once she was out, she went on some rambling about getting more people to control or something.  Not sure though.  Been awhile since I've been able to trudge through Awakenings.

The Baroness ruled over a hovel for a little bit and you compare that to a general fighting both a blight and civil war?

Obviously the circumstances are entirely diffrent.

Why not compare Loghain idk to Cory?

You know one of the magisters that spilt an ocean of blood to cross into the fade.

The baroness also caused a fair bit of land to be uninhabitable for a long period of time from what we see of it.

You mean a general that caused a civil war and ignored the Blight? Caused my friend. Anyway we still do not know what is Corypheus and I'd like to be enlightened by you about the great similarities between Coripheus and Loghain....
I find far more between a Magister and Loghain, if you want to stretch it and, even in that case we are talking about people with far more power than a simple Mage.
