How close in design is the new engine toolset to the old DA one?

Do you still use head morphs attached to bodies?

Is there a new cutscene creator?

Is there a dialogue editor similar to the DA and NWN ones with built in trees?

Is terrain free formed like the old DA toolset?

I expect a flood of BioWare people coming into this thread to answer all of these important questions.  :)

I will be surprised if we get to the point of getting a new toolset or being able to mod to be honest. I don't think it is a priority for BioWare but I'd still like to know if some of the tools they use are the same or similar with the new engine.

I don't think we'll get any type of toolset to be honest...

To my understanding, the various tools they use for Frostbite 3 are actually licensed from OTHER companies so they can't exactly give those out...

Which was also a problem with the DA toolset.  In any case I'd be curious how they work with the faces and if they are head morphs or if there is another system in play.

This is what I'd also heard. So it seems very unlikely there will be a toolset for Inquisition.

I really doubt we'll be getting any kind of toolset. I think the real question is how many things are truly hard coded and how much, if any, game data can creative modders get at to mess around with. Based on frostbite 2 games if we get even the most basic of mods it will be a victory.

I'm curious, will there still be a debug console in game that we can use to try to work around some of the glitches that arise?

No toolset, no purchase. Seriously, they are hoping to complete with Skyrim and The Witcher? Those have toolsets. I know they probably own their own engines, but surely EA or whoever owns what they need. It shouldn't be that hard. I have the feeling the crying over DA2 would not have been as loud if they gave us a toolset.

You would be lucky just to get a toolset.

Not necessarily.

True, EA owns the Frostbite engine via DICE (which is why all of their non sports game are being pushed for Frostbite 3 to lower costs -smart move), but the actual tools they use to interact with the engine itself might not actually be owned by either DICE or another EA company.]

I've had fun playing around with mods for TES and DA in the past. In my ideal future world, I'd love to mod Inquisition too. I would also love to own a stretch Hummer with a hot tub. The truth is this is a dead issue already. Everything we know about EA says they have no interest in supporting modders. Frostbite has never supported modding either - quite the opposite as it was originally designed for competitive multiplayer shooters, where user modification potentially means unfair competitive advantage. Maybe some really cool, really smart people will be able to do something like what we've seen with ME3 Explorer. Who knows. But if you think you can convince EA to include mod tools by threatening not to buy... you're wasting your breath.

As sad as it is, I really don't think there's a snowballs chance in H#!! that we will get a toolset for our use.
