I'm really happy that a majority of interesting titles is going to be released for multiple platforms.
Same here, was very pleased about that.

The first thing I would do is swapping out the HDD for an SSD.
I know an equivalent size SSD costs almost as much as the console itself but it is worth it for me.
My 256GB Samsung SSD cuts my Gran Turismo 5's load time by half. I would go nuts without it.

I would order it from Amazon. No sales tax for me.

Look at you throwing around preferences as some sort of truth.
It's a fact, not a preference.
PC simply offers far more gaming options, that is indisputable.
A fact is that PC has the most powerful hardware.
A preference is that you think it's the best gaming platform.
but this thread should probably actually be about Sony and the PS4 rather than people already counting the X1 out of the running or the PC gaming master race acting superior to everybody else.
As an exclusive console gamer, what can a console do which a PC can't do better? I get the whole "ease of use" angle, since Playstation/Xbox are just plug in and play. But I'm not seeing what advantage they offer over a PC. Exclusives aren't an issue of hardware as much a gimmick to get people to buy a specific console. Graphics has always favored the PC, controllers can also be used in place of mouse and keyboard, and you can even find ways of playing from the comfort of a couch, depending on your set up.
Consoles this gen are not even plug and play anymore, my PC boots up way faster than my PS3 and loads games faster. It is much more of a hassle to load up my PS3. I do like a lot of PS3 exclusives though.

I love my XBox. I want to stay with XBox. Why did Sony have to create a superior gaming machine?
I mean hardware the machines are very similar. I don't get how the Microsoft execs thought this startegy would be good though. I think it was Eurogamer I saw this quote "Microsoft are offering solutions to problems consumers don't know they have". Thought thatt summed it up well.

I don't understand all this "loyalty" crap, If something is superior you should go for it if you can. Be adaptive. It's like my cousin, he stubbornly ignores all the warnings for the X1 and just. Claims this "But everyone will still pay an extra £50 for the Xbox exclusives so doesn't really matter".

Yeah, I was kinda thinking that in the back of my mind at first, but now I'm thinking MS is trying to get out of the console market. Why else would a company show such a blatant disregard for their users, unless they wanted to get out of the business? Just my own theory, but there it is.Captain Crash wrote...

And after reading this article, and a few others, I'm looking the other direction. Crack open a cold one for me, Sony, I'm coming home!

Of course Microsoft wants to maximize Windows sales by killing off the Xbox. Never saw that coming

I think above all Microsoft wants control and to appease the publishers, so they can secure exclusive content. While not definitive proof, Battlefield map packs used to be timed exclusives for Playstation products, but now they XBox timed exclusives.
